It was absolutely excellent. We had foodies in from London and we were all VERY impressed. the service , food ambiance all perfect. You really need to try this unique dining experience.
Good date night spot or intimate Dinner with friends.
Wonderful Unique Restaurant in a wonderful part of town. I've eaten here twice and the food and presentation were excellent. The ambiance and service are tops. It's a bit expensive, like many places in NY, but a good experience all around.
Tasty meal beautifully presented, excellent cocktails, perfect service - altogether a completely delightful brunch in a lovely setting
My new hang out with girls place . Love it. Great drinks , wine , cocktail hour and food never disappoints
The restaurant was pretty much empty, the service was ok. There was a table that got the check but it was a while before came back to charge it, the lady’s were getting ready to go downstairs to pay the bill.
I've always wanted to visit The House and Summer Restaurant Week seemed like a great time to do so. Who wouldn't want to dine in such a beautiful historical building? Since we were a bigger party, we made an early reservation. We were immediately brought upstairs and given the prime table in front of the crescent window. Our excellent waiter brought menus and answered our questions regarding cocktails. The grilled pineapple, cucumber martini and the marketplace mojito all were great recommendations. We then chose our dinners. The avocado toast was lush, delicious avocado with a hint of garlic. The mussels were fresh and the broth had chorizo which gave a robust flavor. The scallops were grilled perfectly. My dessert was passable, but more my own fault. I should have gotten sorbet instead of the flourless chocolate cake. The coconut gelato that was served with it was delicious. Overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely be back for another meal at The House.
Fun and interesting spot. Very good food. Service was attentive and excellent.
Went for lunch, not always the best culinary showing for any restaurant. Had above average meal, kind server and staff, fine ambiance; the grey is harsh.
Regardless, I’ll have many more meetings and social occasions here. Bravo! One of the neighborhoods finest.
Ambience was below average, seemed like an old house my grandmother would go to in upstate New York. It smelled like an old house too. The food also was below average. At that price point and those ratings, I’d have expected much more. Service however, was attentive and excellent. Would not go back.
The ambiance and service was very nice, it’s a good date spot. However, the food was a bit cheap for the price. Avocado toast for an appetizer seems like an uninspired option for what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The menu was specifically for restaurant week, and felt very basic for what a restaurant of this level has to offer.
We live in the neighborhood, always walked by this place, but had never been. We decided to try it for restaurant week with low expectations and were very pleasantly surprised. From cocktails through dessert everything was good and the service was excellent. Very good atmosphere. Hope to return soon.
A friend and I were both celebrating our birthdays. The staff were very nice, the food was delicious (it was still Restaurant Week) and the restaurant itself was lovely. We were seated upstairs by a big window. There was no rush and we would definitely return another time. We checked out Happy Hour before leaving and would come back for that. I live in the neighborhood and hadn't been back here for years, but I certainly won't wait that long next time.
A nice find in the neighborhood for a special dinner.
This is one of our favorite spots. The food is always great The drinks are amazing. You can’t beat their Happy Hour deal. Love their bartender- she’s the best!
Great little cozy place, lots of ambiance, great service!
Came here for a birthday. Service was perfect & food was amazing! Such a cute place.
Excellent staff. Lea was our waitress for the evening and did an excellent job of helping us make this client dinner a memorable experience.
We had a great meal, As always. We couldn't be happier.
This place is fantastic from the ambiance, location, service and food quality. We will definitely be going back when we are in NYC
The carriage house is lovely. Also appreciated the happy hour, m-f until 7. Yummy, fun, economical.
A great new find!
Menu selection was average, food was okay. Nothing spectacular. Good place for a date, but if you are going for serious tasting food, it is just okay.
This is a great space. the food is excellent and the service attentive and friendly. The deviled eggs are incredible.
Ambience is good, but the burger was very undercooked. Quite pricey too for the quality of food.
A Perfect Place for a delicious meal- we were running 15 minutes late due to rain & Mother's Day traffic- spoke to Leslie who said not to worry. The wait staff was attentive! Great coffee and food- I want to try a flat bread next time!
All I can say is absolutely wonderful. The staff , the attention to the simplest touches and truly caring to “WOW” my wife and l. I am so happy that I choose this gem for my wife birthday because it did give her and I a sensational experience .
Our server, Vincent I believe was super knowledgeable, polite and savvy on wine. Well done all
Have always liked this restaurant. My (first) date and I had a great time. Perhaps if things go right, we’ll comeback for an anniversary dinner! I think she’s a definite keeper!
Accommodating service and solid menu.
Excellent food and service !
Host was super and all staff extremely attentive. Food was solid. Nice ambience.
Union Square is always bustling with crowds especially at lunchtime. There are many restaurants in the area some are very good. However if you want to have that same quality of food and enjoy a quiet lunch with a friend or client. This is the place!
We had less than nice service and the food was really not great. Things that “came with” the fixed price Easter brunch never appeared. Our daughter’s french toast was super dry as if it was truly toast with none of the egg. My husband and son had lobster egg Benedict. The lobster in each dish was icy cold and the eggs were lukewarm. The dishes were not very flavorful. I had the dullest vegetable frittata I’ve ever eaten. My Bloody Mary tasted like pure seafood cocktail sauce: We found very little to like about the meal! We will not return.
Once dinner was served, waiter disappeared. Never offered coffee, dessert, etc.
Delicious meal, wine, and gelato. We enjoyed the flatbread, braised beef and risotto, small side of truffle mac and cheese, and the gelato trio. Every item was spectacular - the gelato was by far the best I've tasted. So good. Would definitely go again.
Fantastic place. Charming excellent service and the food is excellent
The ambience, food, and service at this place is very special. My only complaint is the mark-up on the wine list, which is a factor of 6-7 times retail, rather than the more common factor of 2-3. The Rodano Chianti, for example, is on the menu for $70, but can be purchased in a store for $12-14.
Lunching at The House was a total pleasure. The food, service and ambiance were all what I hoped for.
Would recommend it without reservation.
An excellent find. The service was exceptional. All the food was fresh, hot and highly inventive. The table shared some deviled eggs and one of our patrons dropped one in her water; without missing a beat, the server had a replacement one made and brought it over without our daring to ask; that is service! Entrees were excellent; chicken, mac n cheese, a sublime steak and the burgers. Desserts were uniformly excellent. Highly recommend as this is a quiet gem in a beautifully restored house.
