About
High-top seating is located on the ground floor of the restaurant. The white marbled tables are elevated and provide a wonderful view of the fireplace.
Standard seating is located up 1 flight of stairs, on the top floor. These tables are closer to the ground and are dressed with white linens.
Seating arrangements are subject to change based on availability and private bookings.
Charming setting in an old house. My friends and I were seated on the top floor. Tables are a little close together and the bathroom on that top floor is a space-challenged. Our server was attentive and very nice. We shared the charred octopus, tuna crudo and duck salad. Everything was delicious. I would definitely go back and recommend this restaurant to others.
Had to wait about 30 min for our reservation but they comped a round of drinks for the inconvenience
Very good food.
Deviled Eggs App, Short Ribs Entree, Truffle Mac & Cheese and Nutella Smores are must-haves.
Very nice atmosphere. Great date spot.
It was romantic and perfect
The deviled eggs were superb and the scallops were very good. The dining upstairs was very cozy.
Found The House online as I live in Rochester NY and had no idea where to take my lady for Valentines day. Reviews were great and ambiance looked excellent so we took a chance and were nicely rewarded! I asked for the table near the fireplace and we got it, tucked away in the corner, secluded yet not overlooked service wise.
The food was incredible and we totally enjoyed every aspect of The House.
Very disorganized and cramped downstairs. Couldn't figure out where to seat us so we just stood there for five minutes while they debated to put us upstairs or downstairs.
Waiter was not very friendly or helpful
It was very cold in the restaurant
This former carriage house has been converted to a charming and cozy place to dine. The ground floor has a working fireplace which is quite welcoming on a cold winter day. The tall arched windows allow a lot of light in. Up the steep stairs is another, more intimate space allowing quiet conversation with your dinner partners. The food is excellent, but the portions of some dishes are a little small. Both floors have a bar, and there is a nice wine list. I highly recommend you visit.
The burger was fresh and delicious and the reisling sweet and creamy. Our waitress was lovely and knowledgeable. But the tall fellow pouring water kept doing so from over the top of the staircase with his arm inches from my face. I don’t know why he couldn’t come to the open side of the table even after mentioning this to him.
Great food and warm atmosphere though!
Very nice ambiance. Menu is limited, but what is served is good. Extremely nice and helpful service. I would eat there again and recommend it.
Wonderful cozy ambience. Great place for easy conversation. Love the history of the building.
Restaurant week brought us in. Food was amazing. Service impeccable. I will be back.
Wonderful ambiance. Staff is very helpful and attentive. Many veg/fish options if you do not eat meat/chicken.
We chose The House to celebrate our wedding anniversary. They surprised us with a glass of champagne after we were seated. The server was attentive but not overbearing which I really liked. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. We will definitely be back
Unfortunately the food was very below average. A waste of money for the price, considering so many other good restaurants in the area. We were swayed by the solid reviews, but everything we ordered was lacking flavor.
What a cozy and sweet place for a date!
The staff was very kind and efficient. Met an old friend and we were allowed to take our time and visit. Would definitely go back
I chose the restaurant because I love the homey ambiance but found that the food and service were equally good. Will definitely go back.
Cute ambiance and coziness.
On a Saturday night, the room was full but noise situation was surprisingly good. Well done on that interior sounds absorption.
Food was delicious. Overall very nice experience
Outstanding service and a great meal. My wife and I had our anniversary brunch here and we were deeply impressed.
A beautiful, intimate setting in a renovated carriage house. Charming ambiance, excellent food, attentive service. Great for cozy get-togethers. Pricey, so not for everyday dining. I would definitely return to this restaurant.
Love The House!
The deviled egg sampler is stunning!
Great cocktails!
...and truffle mac and cheese.
And it's super cozy and romantic.
Love it!
Great food and great service
Love this place! Cozy, relaxed, delicious.
Despite a very limited menu, we were both able to find something on the menu to enjoy. Especially enjoyed the ambiance and the ability to have a conversation without shouting. We ended the evening with a cheese plate that topped off the meal. Definitely would recommend
Great food, nice atmosphere and good for many different occasions.
Thought it would be cozy little spot, food don’t blow us out of the water. I would skip if this is your one fancy dinner a month!
Wonderful service and atmosphere. Delicious food other than the lobster salad which the red onion over powered the flavor.
The atmosphere was really good but the food was mediocre at best, especially for the price. They made a few mistakes with our order and tried to up charge us for things that luckily we caught - and they removed
I wrote the restaurant an email to their website. I’m awaiting a response. I am a hospitality consultant and burger connoisseur. I will not write a review as the burger was poor.
Pleasant atmosphere! Perfectly cozy for the holidays.
Lovely little spot that is intimate with very good food and an outstanding staff who are knowledgeable about the menu and willing to make recommendations.
Beautiful setting, wonderful food makes for a lovely evening.
special brunch with dear women friends from out of town. They are foodies and well traveled so challenging where to take them. The House surpassed expectations and completely wooed our friends. Love this place
The House is rarely disappointing in any season, but it is especially cozy during the winter. With its tri-level seating options (upper dining area with large arched casement window, ground level bar area with high top tables and inviting fireplace, and cellar level with intimate dining amongst the wine racks), there are always options to feel secluded even on the busiest nights. Perfect for a romantic dinner or a private discussion. Plus the food is luxurious, succulent and decadent, without being overpowering. I highly recommend the PomPepper Martini (you will want more than one) and the braised short ribs to keep you nice and toasty during a cold winter night. Not recommended for kids or a family night, but absolutely perfect for a small party of close friends or an intimate dinner for two.
The House in Gramercy Park is a very special, comfortable, delicious, charming place for brunch or dinner. The staff is friendly, the food is excellent, and the space provides a great escape from the busy NYC pace just outside the door.
A special treat to visit The House. I began my meal with the shaved fennel and celery salad, it was refreshing and tasty. The deeply roasted chicken with deep brown crispy skin was moist and hearty atop the turnip purée.
Finished off with the chocolate mousse cake which was a perfect portion to complete the meal. My companions were equally pleased. The brownie sundae was immense and impressive.
The entire staff was charming providing prompt unobtrusive service throughout our meal.
All this within a charming unique setting.
I took my girlfriend there for her birthday. It was a great intimate setting, with delicious food and well-made cocktails. While the service was adequate, bordering on good, unfortunately the staff seemed to forget about us quite a bit as we waited for long periods for service. However when service did arrive, they were very apologetic and attentive which was appreciated. Would definitely go back again.
Great food, lovely service, charming atmosphere.
