Lovely venue- more restaurant than pub, we went for lunch with our baby and dog. The staff were very accommodating, and the food (and beers!) was fantastic.
Good food and good service
Atmosphere and food were lovely, and the staff was friendly (especially at the bar, where I was allowed to try some beers). Unfortunately our waitress knocked over our bottle of wine and never brought a new bottle over or gave us a discount which would have been fair.
The Horseshoe is one of three great pubs in Hampstead (the other two are the Holly Bush and the Duke of Hamilton). There is a great selection of beers, a really nice atmosphere on a hot evening with the big windows left open. I had a perfectly cooked steak (on the rare side of medium rare). It was well-rested and perfectly seasoned. The side of fries was a bowlful salty and crispy deliciousness. We had started of chicken wings (superb), padron peppers (we were probably going overboard on the salt) and smoked mackerel pate. All good.
Lively pub. Good service. Good location. Good experience.
Horse shoe has fabalous ambience and excellent ,welcoming staff.. Brunch was awesome.. I had vegan and my husband had beef roast. He told me it was by far best roast he had till date.. I liked Pimms and my husband enjoyed his beer
This is a fantastic place in the heart of Hampstead. Fantastic food and great drinks, including seasonal microbrews
Probably the nicest, friendliest and most knowledgeable staff you served by in a pub! I have never been anything but pleased with my meal at The Horseshoe, especially the roast on Sunday's; every element of which has been cooked perfectly and is delicious. Highly recommend!
Lovely lunch and very welcoming to dogs.
We always love the horseshoe. Delicious food, great wines, lots of beers to choose from, friendly service, and lovely atmosphere. Dog and pram friendly too.
We would eat there again and invite friends because it's an excellent local restaurant, the food, drinks and service is great.
Relaxed brew-pub in Hampstead, one of our go-to spots for a drink and a bite. Plus it doesn't have the historical significance of some other nearby spots to rest its hat on, so that only means they don't rest on anything and its easier to get a table.
Bright, large windows and friendly, comfortable vibe. Great place to bring your dog after a walk in the part. Enjoy the wide selection of beers and tasty food.
Nice food. Sometimes the service is quite slow but the staff are friendly and welcoming.
We've been to the Horseshoe before for brunch on Saturday so wanted to come back and trial the Sunday roast.
Luckily had booked otherwise would have been impossible to get a table!
Unfortunately, service was REALLY slow. We were waiting 20 minutes to be seated and then a further 20 minutes for our order to be taken. Food took well over 45 minutes to come... so lucky that we weren't in a rush! That said, food was great. If you want a tip, get in earlier for roasts (12.30pm) rather than leaving it to 2/3pm when we were there. It was REALLY busy!
Understand that Sundays are generally a busier service for them and they have a lot of people in for food. However, they really need to look at the amount of servers (at a headcount, I could only see 3 servers including the guy who was running bookings for at least 60 covers, if not more).
Limited starters and rather dull for the price; padrone peppers for example, nothing else on plate, just too many peppers! Main course, excellent and generous roast beef, but... very dry yorkshire puds and ok veg. Wine over-priced for its quality. For dessert we ordered ice cream with stewed blackberries - each portion included precisely three half berries - so 1.5 blackberries per portion! Vey loud and buzzy atmosphere as one might expect from a pub...
Great pub both for food and drinks. Amazing selection of craft beers and really nice menu.
We had a very frustrating time today. We arrived at 1pm having booked in advance. We are regular customers at this pub, but today there seemed to be a new team. We ordered food and drinks, and were brought some of the drinks ordered ; we then waited for more than three quarters of an hour. When we noticed that other people were being served and not us we inquired. We were told that our orders had been forgotten and that we wouldn’t be charged for our drinks. There was no attempt at fixing the problem.
Food at The Horseshoe was really good as always and the service was fine as well, with not too many interruptions to enquire how we like. The noise level and music was awful this time. I know it is a gastro pub but the music was synthetic with a really loud base and that ruins the atmosphere.
Excellent all round, as always
The pancakes I had for brunch on Saturday was raw and too sweet
Never a disappointment.
A group of us dined for a birthday dinner but the dining tables were slightly away from the pub main floor which made it ideal for us to be able to enjoy the atmosphere, food and chats without the noise.
Food was delicious! Service was great from one waiting staff but another seemed perpetually lost.
We were delayed arriving at the restaurant and staff made our friends waiting at the table (on time for the reservation) feel very unwelcome and rushed, and were rude - despite guests on other tables arriving late. The food was cold and staff did not bring what was ordered. We will not be returning.
No one from service came to ask how the food was.
Excellent food, setting, ambience and staff. I would definitely recommend and will be back myself
Roasts were served promptly once orders were taken. Portions good.. Flavours not bad but fairly average. The veg was nice although the celeriac was nowhere to be seen (we weren't told it was missing). The potatoes seemed like they were cooked and refrigerated prior to reheating and serving (texture didn't seem fresh). Gravy was fairly bland and you will need to ask for more. Overall, roast wasn't bad but for the price.. I'll not return. Especially when drinks that are so expensive (large cocacola £4.80ish) was mainly ice as we're the bloody Mary's. Service was OK but average. If you would like to go, I'd recommend you book in advanc
Food was amazing and 2 of the 3 staff who served us were friendly polite and professional. However the chikdren’s Menu was confusing, it listed pizza, drink and cucumber/carrot sticks for £5. The salad sticks were never given so had to ask for them to which the rude waitress said they were complimentary therefore implying it was at their discretion whether we received them or not. The bill included a price for the chikdren’s meal despite being listed on the menu for included within £5. The friendly waitress explained that it’s not actually included. She did then say she’d take this off the bill. In conclusion - fantastic food, mostly great staff but double check what’s included and double check your bill as it seems acceptable to mislead customers ... I would return however i’d Be very cautious.
Terrible service - over half of what we ordered and to be received ordered because it was forgotten
Lots of confusion amongst staff
We ate late-ish on the Saturday after Christmas. The Horseshoe was offering its Brunch menu so the choices were a bit limited but we all enjoyed our burgers and the chips were excellent. The visiting cask-ale was more interesting than other times we've been in. Nice service and atmosphere for a chat with friends.
Excellent Sunday roasts and ample portions. Medium-rare beef tender, tasty and cooked perfectly for our taste - and good roast potatoes, yorkshire pud and veg... Let down slightly, however, by miniscule portion of mackerel in the starter chosen by two of us, and of the only three desert options one not being available! Wines all rather over-priced. The Shiraz (£25.00) was very 'thin' , and whilst the Malbec was much better, expensive at £30. Friendly and helpful waiting staff and warm welcome upon entering was appreciated.
Very disappointing that our portion of steak was 1/4 of the steak portion size served at the table next to us -we should have complained there but we were too tired and hungry to make an issue .. the steak was even split into two.. it’s a shame as otherwise this place is great
Fantastic food, charming staff. Had a great time. Would recommend for large groups. Roast beef superb!
The dinning area at the back is nice and cosy (I knew already the front / pub area), the service was really nice and thoughtful, the food was creative and of good quality, and on top of it the place is coupled with Camden brewery! (The wine list was really interesting though and the one we chose was excellent, so no need to be a beer lover exclusively to come to dine here!
We have really enjoyed the last two dinners - even though it is a limited menu.
We found a piece of plastic in the food and told the staff. But it was so casually treated and not a matter of surprise. Clearly the hygiene standards are very low and it’s a matter of grave concern
Going there for the second time in a month. Great atmosphere, great food, great location and great people. Isn't this enough? ;-)
Five stars in all aspects - what more can I say? Highly recommended!
Last Sunday was my 1st time visiting this place. A friend recommended it and I must say, it was a beautiful idea! The food was very good, the atmosphere was just great, very cosy and friendly. I do recommend this place to everyone and will certainly go again this month!
