The Hook & Line
Inside the Hook & Line, you'll discover a quirky, rustic interior and cosy booths. In homage to Plymouth's naval roots, we've created the city's first speciality Rum Bar. Steve's area of expertise, the bar, is the heart of The Hook & Line - with a carefully selected wine list, Perrier Jouët champagne, cocktails that are on point and our very own, signature ale, the Hook, Line & Sinker.

Absolutely outstanding. We went for a pre theatre anniversary meal here and sat outside on a beautiful sunny early evening. We were given a free glass of bubbly in celebration of our anniversary which was really lovely. The waitress was very friendly and informative. We had a great meal; the fish mixed grill was superb. The owner came over for a chat a little later. What a lovely guy. We wish him and the whole team all the success in the world. We live a fair distance away but will be back next time we’re in Plymouth.
First visit to Hook and Line, lovely food and great service
The Hook and Line is a perfect seafood restaurant, with fresh produce, that is landed on the doorstep, expertly cooked. As well as a good wine list, their cocktails are outstanding and there is also an excellent rum bar. The service is efficient and friendly. I would highly recommend.
Fabulous seafood restaurant. Loved the set sail prawns. An amazing selection of rums from across the world. The staff and service were brilliant
Great place with a great concept. Had to wait a little more than expected for our meals. However we were compensated with Rum. Freindly staff great atmosphere. Only thing I can say negative about the food, was that the octopus was slightly on the tough side.
This restaurant was fantastic took my husband and some friends from Manchester and we definitely enjoyed it. Till my husband went and told the chief they did a fantastic job. We definitely go back . Our number one restaurant in Plymouth now . Please keep up the good work .
Food is amazing, service is just how we like it.
Our go to place in Plymouth.
Great place to eat. Whole evening was lovely
Another great meal and service, scallops were amazing and highly recommend the Lady Astor cocktails
First time for us and have already booked for our second visit. Think that’s the best review……
Whatever you choose you will enjoy, so much thought, prep and time goes into these meals. We could not recommend enough. And the rum bar to finish your night …. Just perfect! 100% recommended.
Waited an hour for our food large potion of olives and a bottle of wine helped while away the hour. Food when it arrived was tasty and plentiful albeit not very hot. Toilets were mixed and only 2 of them. So there was a queue. I followed a child and think his mum or dad should have been there ! Staff were friendly and apologetic when we said the food could have been a bit warmer. Nice cocktails. Not too noisy for such a big space with high ceiling. Will probably go again.
Best food we’ve had in ages! Delicious fresh seafood with incredible cocktails. Cracking value for money and a great range of interesting twists on classics. Can’t wait to visit again.
Excellent fish tacos and fish and seafood platter. The mussels came with a wonderful sauce. Two good cocktails for £10 before 7.00pm. Our best meal in 2021 and great value.
Fantastic food and service, we sat outside and watch the sunset, perfect spot for yummy food
Amazing food a must try! Will be back again soon.
A great selection of food on the menu, the staff were very friendly and made sure we were happy with everything we ordered. Funky decor and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit.
Absolutely stunning setting with great vibes. Food was very well priced. Service was a little slow but I think they were very understaffed so this was understandable. Only one chap serving inside and out it seemed.
Very pleasant, relaxing and lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff and excellent service. Credit to the chefs fantastic quality tasty food. Great value for money. Would recommend the restaurant without question.
Perfect setting perfect weather stunning food and fabulous service - the only thing we would say is that although the sweet potato chips were super crispy they were way too salty when eaten with the dishes with sauces/soy etc. However, it wasn’t enough to spoil our enjoyment of this fab meal ! Thanks guys 😊
The evening started well with some nice starters and drinks. However the main dishes were disappointing. We had a variety; fish and chips, the fish platter, fish burgers and tacos. The dishes lacked flavour and seasoning for all except the platter which came with dips. In addition 1 dish was forgotten and came late (but the person was offered a free drink!). Overall overpriced for the quality and flavour of the dishes. Service and ambiance was pleasant enough.
Amazing food and setting! The staff were great, we sat on the amazing long tables and watched the sunset, wouldn’t change a thing!
Staff, food and service are superb. The only problem was a dog barked once and a while.
Our meal was fantastic. The location and food were superb, the waiters were attentive and knowledgeable. Would recommend and will go again next time I am in Plymouth
This place is great! Fabulous location, quality fresh food with excellent service. Can't wait to return.
There seemed to be a number of staffing problem, it took 15 mins after being seated to even get a menu, then a further 15 mins before we were asked for our order. We then had to wait a further 45 mins for our food to arrive, one of the meals was also incorrect. The food is pleasant enough but not exceptional. Would have expected a lot more for the price.
Excellent service and delicious food. Highly recommended
Delicious food, great cocktails, friendly helpful staff, brilliant location and decor!
Great food and very good service ,,good atmosphere, very reasonably prices.
First time eating here and was blown away by the food full of delicious flavour . Service was quick and our waitress friendly and happy.
Despite staff pressures because of so called Pingdemic, the whole experience was excellent.
The owner was very active in assisting some stand in staff who were all great, having filled in at short notice.
The already high standards of food and service were maintained and our overall experience was very, very good.
Recommend the chowder and tacos.
Amazing food and staff were very efficient especially as we had been contacted to let us know that staffing levels were low due to Covid. It was our first time there but we will definitely be going back
Over priced and under staffed took over an hour between courses
Excellent food, very friendly staff offering a good service
Service good but food overpriced for what it is really
First visit to H&L, really impressed and lovely food and surroundings. Would definitely go again. 👍❤️
Food and service was great, plus the location is a real bonus.
Poor food ..not as described on menus ..had to complain at overcooked and dry food.
Excellent service, amazing food. Fantastic meal for a birthday!
