The Hollows is a locally owned/operated restaurant located in the Riversdale neighbourhood of Saskatoon in the historic Golden Dragon building. We are two young chefs dedicated to serving contemporary food focused on natural and seasonal products.
Our food is made with the best ingredients we can find in our area: cultivated plants grown from heirloom seeds, wild-harvested leaves and mushrooms, flowers, sap and roots, local fish — sustainably raised, pastured meat, poultry and eggs from small farmers.
Our dishes change and evolve with the seasons. We brine, cure and smoke — as cooks have been doing for thousands of years — but we also embrace modern cooking techniques. We’ve been cooking in Vancouver, San Francisco, Amsterdam and Spain; and we feel it is time to bring what we have learned to Saskatchewan, which is for us a land of opportunity.

Best food. Fine dining hidden in an old Chinese decor from the past. One of the top 3 meals I’ve had and we travel. Loved it. Fresh herbs from the garden. Presentation superb. We all had the tasting menu with the wine paring each time we went
Food and cocktails were delicious and service was fantastic. Restaurant was quite loud so a bit difficult to visit with people at our table. Great if you like a very energetic atmosphere! Overall we would come back!
Great food and ambience
One of the best meals I have ever had- especially with a table for 8
The experience was absolutely outstanding!! Love the food at The Hollows!!!
Food is overpriced for the quality. Cocktails are great.
We had the 5 course tasting menu with the wine pairings - was an excellent experience.
Great hidden gem with a very unique menu. Our server was incredible - we left the decisions to her and she did not disappoint.
Delicious food and amazing cocktails. The Hollows was perfect for our book club get together!
A wonderful farm to table experience guided by an expert server. We revelled in the traditional 50's small town restaurant interior. Amazing find, that would never be possible in Calgary (where we live and are avid food people) because AB has had the money and attitude to replace everything with a gutting method of redo. The table beside us were snooty boors as I think was referenced in a previous review I read but their attitudes made me laugh. We recieved the same great service as all even if we appeared old and overdressed, so there! 😎
It’s a run down building but maintaining the original decor is kind of charming. The brunch menu has lots of options: all of the food was tasty overall. The portion size varies widely and some of us were hungry after eating which was disappointing-others couldn’t finish. The pannekoeken wasn’t a Dutch baby style pancake as anticipated, it was a thin crepe, and the potato pancake was a very thick single block that was nonetheless tasty too but the accompanying kale lentil stuff was a bit bitter. Large parties are levied a 20% tip rather than the usual 18%. We’d try it again!
Fabulous evening. We did the tasting menu and it was amazing
Went for a birthday brunch and service was excellent. Loved our meals and would definitely come back
The sitting area was small and cozy. We sat during a food rush I guess. Service was good. Server was attentive. Waters were never empty. The food took a bit but once it came the plating, portion the taste and quality was amazing!!! The menu was a little bit intimidating but once everything came out we were super pleased.
It was an amazing evening at The Hollows. We were looking for something different and exciting in Saskatoon and this is definitely it. It looks like the old Golden Dragon but the food is something else!
We started with the dandelion fritters on a spicy aioli, and a house sour cocktail. Then had a tasting flight of wine and split the pea ravioli and mushroom gnocchi. Both were inventive and full of flavour. We finished with the sampler dessert platter. The haskap jam and sea buckthorn curd with meringue was a highlight.
Every about this restaurant was fun and thoughtful and and a joy to experience. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a great evening in Saskatoon.
Overall, a fun dining experience. There were flies in the restaurant and we saw the bartender swat one during our meal - while unavoidable, it is not ideal. The food was good but not great although my fellow diners enjoyed theirs more than I enjoyed my gnocchi. The music was a little loud. The server brought the wrong bottle of wine but changed it without fuss when it was pointed out. Red wine was slightly too warm but that was taken care of with an ice bucket.
The Hollows put on a great Fathers' Day brunch, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We had the bannock and jam before our meal, and the saskatoon berry jam was divine. When the server came to clear that away before our meals arrived, she not only left the jam for us, but even refilled it so we'd have more of it to enjoy with our meal!
It was a little busy, but I would expect that on Fathers' Day. We would definitely go back for brunch or for dinner!
Very interesting place. The food was very god, and the service was wonderful. A little warm, as it seems there is no A/C (but I prefer that to many restaurants that crank up the A/C and make you chilly!) Unfortunately there was a group of 8 across from us who seemed to think that they both owned the restaurant and that they were all hard of hearing. No indoor voices here; these people shouted and laughed so loudly I could barely hear my wife. This was a special night for us, and these boors ruined it. Advice to the manager (and to all managers): please take control of these situations and remind patrons there are others who were also looking forward to dining. Don't make the customer have to do that, as such conflict sours the night for everyone.
Thank you for dining with us, we are glad you enjoyed the food and service. The air conditioner was offered to you but I believe you were warned that it is a little noisy and declined having it turned on. It is an old building and we do our best with it. We would have happily moved you away from the group celebrating a special occasion to a quieter table in another room however unless guests are swearing or inappropriate it is not our policy to ask them to be quiet. Thanks for your feedback!
First of all, we went there to eat. And we were not disappointed! Delicious food, elegantly presented, and served in a timely fashion. For local history buffs, the location added to the experience. A wonderful way to celebrate an anniversary.
It was such an interesting and calm atmosphere - a lot of thought and care has gone into everything there. It feels like a place for community and they work hard at sustainability as well - very cool.
I love this restaurant. This time, though, the fries were white and floppy... Not cooked enough.
Local. Sustainable (both food and space). Imaginative. Unpretentious.
Hollows is one of our favourite restaurants in Saskatoon! Our servers are always excellent, the atmosphere is cozy and they have amazing cocktails and oysters!
3 of us had the tasting menu and tried some of the specialty cocktails and all of it was so delicious! The quirky atmosphere added to the experience. I recommend this spot for an unexpected treat.
As usual Hollows was wonderful. Great servers and food. I didn’t love the sweetness of the duck breast but was still a nice meal overall
Everything was excellent!
Finally a place where you can appreciate the food, the time between each dish to talk.
Unique place off the beaten track. Enjoyed the service and menu.
Absolutely amazing food, drinks and service. A wonderful dining experience. The old Chinese restaurant ambiance didn’t really match what we expected; we were a little confused about whether we were in the right location at first. However, it soon grew on us, and now we think it’s quaint. Frankly, they could probably provide their food and service anywhere they wanted to, and we would still come to eat there; they are that good.
The food and drinks were amazing and the service was great! We will definitely be back.
The Valentine's Prix Fixe meal was stunning and masterful. Each dish had surprises and creativity, the journey through the evening was well planned, the wine pairings added so much to the dishes, and the server was informed, engaged and delightful. Outstanding from beginning to send!
Incredible experience. Enthusiastic server. Six course meal for Valentine’s was to die for. Highly recommend.
Although the food was very good and the service was excellent the Hollows is way over priced. It makes a good experience that you would like to do again not a frequent place you would visit.
Amazing detail to flavor and local ingredients.
Love it every time.
This was our second visit to The Hollows. We were as impressed with this meal as our first! Creative, delicious, fun!
Excellent presentation and great Flavors
Amazing!! Great service friendly staff lots of unique choices and awesome atmosphere.
Highly recommend doing the tasting menu & wine pairings.
Also really enjoyed The Winter Sour from cocktail menu. Great server and attention to detail. I would absolutely recommend going, and I will be back soon!!
New Year’s Eve. Delicious
Love the hollows! It’s my go to for a special night out.
