This place never disappoints! The wait staff is extremely friendly and the food is always great. We try to eat at this restaurant every time we come back to town. You get a lot of food for the price you pay. The only thing I’m sad about is not being able to eat more food, there are so many good looking items on the menu.
Restaurant interior appeared shabby. Few patrons there Sunday at 5:30 pm. Food mediocre other than the artichoke soup.
We went to The Hog’s breath inn for our wedding anniversary just last week and had an amazing time! The ambiance of the restaurant as well as the beautiful walls and decor! I usually don’t write reviews but I would highly recommend this place. The food was so so so so good!y wife and I agree, it was probably the best salmon we have ever had. We also had the creme brûlée and it was 10/10 as well. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could! Thank you again. All of the people working there were great too!
Wonderful food and excellent service.
There were 12 at our table and our server never missed a beat!
It had been a long time since I had been to Hog's Breath and the food was just as good as I remember. Fun spot and great atmosphere.
We were in the area. I had always wanted to go
It was a very nice setting. It was fun to go in the bar and see all the Clint Eastwood memorabilia. Our server was excellent.
I was disappointed in the food. We found it really only so-so. This is the reason for the rating. For the amount charged I expected much tastier food. We would not return.
Very nice setting. If you’re there early enough, and it’s not too cold, definitely sit outside. Service was good, food was good, though a bit pricey. Around 7 pm definitely fills up and quickly.
We were there to celebrate my Birthday. My husband and I started off with a Dirty Harry Margarita, then had a cesar salad, and the fillet mignon. The drink was very tasty and the food was delicious. Our server brought me a complementary slice of cheesecake for my birthday. It was large enough to share. We were able to eat outside in the garden and had great service
It was a wonderful Birthday Dinner
Great atmosphere for laid back casual food
Just phenomenal as always! Outstanding food and service!
I booked this table well in advance. When we got to the restaurant the hostess didn't seem to even take note that we had a reservation. This was for my 20th anniversary and they sat us on a small corner right by the kitchen door. So the whole time we had this door flying open and waiters constantly passing us as we wait for even refill of water. Disappointed. My dish was not the best chicken piccata I've ever had but the most I've ever paid. No salad or soup when your paying almost 30 for entree not right.
Went here to celebrate our anniversary. It was a very cool place. We were seated next to the fireplace. Loved the Dirty Harry margaritas! Food was great! Loved the ambiance.
Very nice dining experience as always. The Hogs Breath never disappoints. The food and service were excellent as always. But the margaritas sure had a lot of ice in them. Overall though, very enjoyable.
Food and service just ok… restaurant is in need of a deep cleaning….servers looked sloppy, aprons/shirts/vests?, all spotted and dirty… overall impression was of an old, tired venue
Service? A surley waiter was the one who spoke English. Most others did not. My wife’s meal was returned. BBQ’d Ribs. Way over cook to be tough and instead of BBQ sauce, ketchup was used. Will not go again. Too many other restaurants to choose from. Went there because 10 years ago we went and it was wonderful. Now? Not so much
Great Carmel & Clint Eastwood dining experience. Highly recommended for your Carmel visit. Lots of warm fireplaces and plenty of Eastwood memorabilia.
1) Rude staff. I know it's Dirty Harry's restaurant, but customers need to be treated like the cops, not the perps.
2) Watered down drinks. I ordered an old fashioned and the color of the drink was clear. Unless there's a clear bourbon or whiskey that I'm not aware of, it was highly watered down. The lack of kick confirmed it. The staff member gave me attitude when I asked for a remake.
It was a great evening.
Price for the food is a definite one. I would give it a zero if it were possible.
Service, food and ambience as expected, we were very happy with our experience.
I love to complement restaurants who made it through the pandemic! We loved the ambiance and everyone who worked there was friendly.
The food and presentation is worst than cafeteria food.. bland, tasteless. Fries arrived cold with the fish and chips, chicken piccata had no color, or flavor, most likely steamed, veggies are standard cafeteria steamed ..
For the price you would expect better..
Pass on this establishment…. We live in Carmel, will not be back..
Charming. Lots of outdoor/open-air seating. Great menu options.
So disappointed. Our server was excellent but the food was mediocre at best. Very disappointing.
The Hog’s Breath Inn needs a MAJOR revamp. It’s pretty tired and the facility is poorly cared for. It looks seedy. The food very mediocre…The wedge salad was ok, the calamari was previously frozen, and the ribs were dry and flavorless. The service was great though…staff was very good. They should get jobs in restaurants that care about the quality of food they serve and clean the facility….
Our experiences (4 people) was amazing. We arrived a few minutes late due to the lack parking but the hostess was very understanding and moved our reservation time to accommodate this issue.
This was my husband and my first experience at the restaurant but our friends who recommended we all dine there had been quite sometime ago. (When Clint Eastwood owned the restaurant)
The ambiance was great! All the rustic fireplaces and patio lights created a relaxed atmosphere. Our waiter, Sergio, was amazing! He was one of the reasons our experience was such a positive one.
The food & drinks were great! I thoroughly enjoyed my Shrimp Pad Thai and everyone else completely enjoyed their choice of entrees. We passed on the dessert but two of us enjoyed an after dinner dessert martini that was really tasty!
I would highly recommend this restaurant to any one who is in the Carmel area. Reservations are suggested and give yourself plenty of time to find parking and allow for the walk you’ll have make to the restaurant.
*Free public parking lot on 3rd street in between Junipero & Torres.
We fell for the hype of the place but were both disappointed with our meals. I wouldn't recommend it and will not plan to revisit in the future. There are plenty of other restaurants in Carmel at which you can find great ambiance. #totaldisappointment
The staff is awesome.. Food is so delicious... Chicken Marsala was so flavorable... Love sitting outside in the patio.. Such a great setting. I highly recommend this place.
My bottle of Budweiser was not cold enough and my glass was not cold enough.
The food was delicious!! I have never seen a staff more attentive and always asking if we needed anything or how was the food. We were also so impressed that the entire staff working hard and working so well together as a team! Eating in the courtyard made for a nice quiet meal, off the noisy streets. Can't wait to go back next time we are in Carmel.
Excellent service, great food and drinks!! We LOVE this place and we’ll definitely be back!
Excellent food. I would definitely eat here again. Staff was very welcoming and we were served in a timely matter.
Filet Mignon and rib Eye steaks were cooked to perfection. Sooo good!
This place is living off the prior Clint Eastwood ownership. Eastwood memorabilia is everywhere and I’m fine with that as I’m a huge Clint fan. The food however was bad. Filet steak was very fatty and tasteless. Red wine sauce was congealed and out of a bottle. Potatoes au gratin were greasy.
When I made the reservation online there was an opportunity to select if it was a special occasion. I selected Anniversary. At no point during our dinner was our wedding anniversary acknowledged. It was our 30th. The hostess who greeted us was not very friendly. In the women’s bathroom one of the two stalls had no lock on the door.
The food however was excellent! Our steaks were tender and cooked the way we asked for. Probably will not return again.
Food was not very goo my boyfriend had steak that was full of grizzle and my pork chop was tough. Service was fair. After complaining they did take some money off our bill but overall it was not a pleasant experience
Horrible service! Rude hostess from Middle East or wherever. I changed res twice around my new college daughter move in and the hostess acted like she was so important. Seated us in corner, super rude, and waiter came by once…another guy came by with water only once after I had to ask a waitress where our waiter was after 15 mins of no service after seated!! Hostess said you can tell waiter if you want fireplace lit. No one ever did it! Great food but service horrible and I love this place, but will never return!
We came for an anniversary and we had a wonderful experience. We alwill be back and are anxious to bring our family and friends.
Excellent service , great ambiance went for my wife’s birthday, had a little trouble finding parking but it was well worth it
Family member’s birthday. Great table near the fireplace. Food was average for the price. Great ambiance.
