This was the fifth? time I've eaten at this iconic location. The food is very good, the staff is extremely helpful. We eventually got a seat inside by the fire, which was very nice. Dings: they initially tried to seat us outside even though I didn't have a jacket, but changed us right away. I think they served me chicken marsala instead of piccata, but that was OK. The overhead music was a bit too loud for my taste, and the Clint Eastwood memorabilia are a little overdone...
Great Carmel atmosphere and delicious food. Chowder, Ceasar salad, onion rings and sand dabs were great. We learned sand dabs are local fare.
Perfect in every way.
The only suggestion would to serve your cheese cake with Graham cracker crust per your menu description, or update your menu.
Love the crab cakes with Castroville Artichoke soup.
Ribs were very disappointing. Fries were cold but they did replace with a new fresh/hot batch.
No need to go back for sure. Nothing stands out about the food for sure.
Great dog friendly restaurant.
Great atmosphere sat outside with the fireplaces good service good food
Great service and amazing food! We really enjoyed ourselves.
Atmosphere here is so unique with the fireplaces and heaters. We love coming here and will definitely come back!
We sat outside. The place was not crowded so we got lucky and secured a seat next to a fireplace. The warmth of the fire upped the already fantastic ambiance. The food was very tasty and the portions were good. My only complaint was that our server suddenly disappeared right after the bill was paid. We still had some wine to drink and we had to go hunting for someone to fill our water glasses. When we asked for our server we were told he had already gone home for the night!
My husband and I came for our honeymoon and we loved the relaxed feel of this place! We would definitely would return to try more dishes.
We had an excellent meal and a great time at The Hog's Breath.
Food was very good but very slow coming out of the kitchen. We thought they might have been short staffed in the kitchen, which is a common problem for restaurants these days.
Dog friendly and wonderful service. We had an amazing time at dinner and were seated close to one, of many, outdoor fireplace. Food was good and drinks plentiful. Will definitely come back soon.
Food and service was great. To bad Mr. Eastwood wasn’t there
Will return on our next visit to Monterey
Had a memorable dinner here for my cousins 60th on a Thursday evening. Everything was perfect from the service, ambience, food! The waiter, I forgot his name, was personable, patient and attentive. We brought my cousin's pup and he devoured a cut up cheeseburger and peacefully slept at our feet. I have been here several times in the last 11 years and have never been disappointed. Can't wait to go back again!
They got our steaks reversed on medium well and medium
Then they took along time to redo
And the medium well was well done and dry
This place never disappoints! The wait staff is extremely friendly and the food is always great. We try to eat at this restaurant every time we come back to town. You get a lot of food for the price you pay. The only thing I’m sad about is not being able to eat more food, there are so many good looking items on the menu.
Restaurant interior appeared shabby. Few patrons there Sunday at 5:30 pm. Food mediocre other than the artichoke soup.
We went to The Hog’s breath inn for our wedding anniversary just last week and had an amazing time! The ambiance of the restaurant as well as the beautiful walls and decor! I usually don’t write reviews but I would highly recommend this place. The food was so so so so good!y wife and I agree, it was probably the best salmon we have ever had. We also had the creme brûlée and it was 10/10 as well. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could! Thank you again. All of the people working there were great too!
Wonderful food and excellent service.
There were 12 at our table and our server never missed a beat!
It had been a long time since I had been to Hog's Breath and the food was just as good as I remember. Fun spot and great atmosphere.
We were in the area. I had always wanted to go
It was a very nice setting. It was fun to go in the bar and see all the Clint Eastwood memorabilia. Our server was excellent.
I was disappointed in the food. We found it really only so-so. This is the reason for the rating. For the amount charged I expected much tastier food. We would not return.
Very nice setting. If you’re there early enough, and it’s not too cold, definitely sit outside. Service was good, food was good, though a bit pricey. Around 7 pm definitely fills up and quickly.
We were there to celebrate my Birthday. My husband and I started off with a Dirty Harry Margarita, then had a cesar salad, and the fillet mignon. The drink was very tasty and the food was delicious. Our server brought me a complementary slice of cheesecake for my birthday. It was large enough to share. We were able to eat outside in the garden and had great service
It was a wonderful Birthday Dinner
Great atmosphere for laid back casual food
Just phenomenal as always! Outstanding food and service!
I booked this table well in advance. When we got to the restaurant the hostess didn't seem to even take note that we had a reservation. This was for my 20th anniversary and they sat us on a small corner right by the kitchen door. So the whole time we had this door flying open and waiters constantly passing us as we wait for even refill of water. Disappointed. My dish was not the best chicken piccata I've ever had but the most I've ever paid. No salad or soup when your paying almost 30 for entree not right.
Went here to celebrate our anniversary. It was a very cool place. We were seated next to the fireplace. Loved the Dirty Harry margaritas! Food was great! Loved the ambiance.
Very nice dining experience as always. The Hogs Breath never disappoints. The food and service were excellent as always. But the margaritas sure had a lot of ice in them. Overall though, very enjoyable.
Food and service just ok… restaurant is in need of a deep cleaning….servers looked sloppy, aprons/shirts/vests?, all spotted and dirty… overall impression was of an old, tired venue
Service? A surley waiter was the one who spoke English. Most others did not. My wife’s meal was returned. BBQ’d Ribs. Way over cook to be tough and instead of BBQ sauce, ketchup was used. Will not go again. Too many other restaurants to choose from. Went there because 10 years ago we went and it was wonderful. Now? Not so much
Great Carmel & Clint Eastwood dining experience. Highly recommended for your Carmel visit. Lots of warm fireplaces and plenty of Eastwood memorabilia.
1) Rude staff. I know it's Dirty Harry's restaurant, but customers need to be treated like the cops, not the perps.
2) Watered down drinks. I ordered an old fashioned and the color of the drink was clear. Unless there's a clear bourbon or whiskey that I'm not aware of, it was highly watered down. The lack of kick confirmed it. The staff member gave me attitude when I asked for a remake.
It was a great evening.
Price for the food is a definite one. I would give it a zero if it were possible.
Service, food and ambience as expected, we were very happy with our experience.
I love to complement restaurants who made it through the pandemic! We loved the ambiance and everyone who worked there was friendly.
The food and presentation is worst than cafeteria food.. bland, tasteless. Fries arrived cold with the fish and chips, chicken piccata had no color, or flavor, most likely steamed, veggies are standard cafeteria steamed ..
For the price you would expect better..
Pass on this establishment…. We live in Carmel, will not be back..
Charming. Lots of outdoor/open-air seating. Great menu options.
