The Hoffman House
The Hoffman House is located at the corner of the historic Stockade district in Kingston NY, and once served as fortification and a lookout. Today the Hoffman House serves a continental fare, featuring steaks, fresh seafood, pasta specialties and homemade artisan desserts. The Hoffman House is a great restaurant in a fun, historical building. The food was excellent, the service was prompt and we had a great time. We're adding this one into our list of "regular" spots!
Enjoyed our dinner. We were seated in a booth across from the fireplace. A nice fire created a romantic atmosphere. The service was excellent even though it was very busy. Full house. Our dinner was timely and delicious. A great value in a pre revolution stone house
Always an excellent meal!
Oooooold house with little to no ambiance. Worried about a fire… the place would go up like a dry woodpile. Food was so-so. What can you say about a supposed “colonial” restaurant that offers “quesadillas du jour”?
Look forward to dining here whenever we attend Rhinebeck NY Sheep and Wool Festival. Wonderful staff, ambience, and of course food! Thank you for another great meal!
Super lunch at Hoffman House. My veggie omelette was fluffy & delicious. The others really liked their grilled lamb and Chicken Marsala sandwiches. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. We sat outside in the garden area - truly a lovely afternoon.
We sat outside; we had steamed clams, a chicken dish and a pasta dish. Food and cocktails were both great.
Old-fashioned style dining in the spirit of Colonial America, reasonable prices and freshly made food. Casual dress is appropriate. Every time we eat here we forget how good it is because we feel so relaxed and at home. Highly recommended,
We were a party of 4. Sat outside. The service was very good. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was tasty
We performed a Noonday Concert at Old Dutch Church - then came back to Hoffman House with friends, to relax and enjoy. We are only dining in outdoor places right now, but the covered patio at HH lets us forget the social health reasons, and just creates a lovely and restorative venue. Many good for choices, drinks. You will see us again soon!
We set outside on the patio. The overall food quality was excellent in particulare the sliced steak with garlic and also the chicken picata. Service is wonderful and one can tell right away it is operated by a family with experience and care
Would have like white table cloth to make it feel a little more special .. beautiful old building so much history
Nice ambience. Service was a bit slow, but wasn’t a concern for us. Fish and chips is worth going back for! Very nice staff.
I’ve been going here for years. Had a fantastic wedding reception luncheon here, in the past. Most recently went for Mother’s Day brunch. Everything was, as usual, exceptional. A change in restaurant ownership and all the Covid restrictions have not affected their high level of dining excellence in the least.
Very friendly staff and excellent food. Quaint setting
In a word: Superb. Wide selection of traditional fare cooked well. Great colonial ambience. Fair prices. Try roast beef on Saturdays if they are still doing it, post covid.
Nice outdoor seating area that is well-decorated and spacious. Food was really good (got the waldorf chicken and chicken parm) and portions are large. Good wine selection. Service was great.
Great. Food, drinks, service. My family loves it there. Beautiful day we sat outside and the owner came out to greet us
We sat at the bar and grabbed wings and a chicken sandwich. What a gem of a find. The food was delicious. The bartender personable and my daughter has lived in Kingston for a while but has never before been here. We lived it and decided this is certainly a do-over... perhaps a order and take home place too for great comfort food. I’m from Buffalo but I love my wings naked with sauce and blue cheese on the side. The wings were crispy, the celery and carrots were fresh, the wing sauce on the side was authentic. 👍
This was our first time to The Hoffman House. It was wonderful all around: service, food, presentation, and ambience.
Everything was great. We will go back soon.
We were very happy with our entire experience. The food was amazing at a reasonable price, the staff was very friendly and professional and the quaint old building has a lot of charm.
Very good food. The service was very attentive looking forward to going back when we can sit outside on the patio area, if available
It was for my bday,
The waitress was fabulous, she joked with us and had a good time
The waiting period for our drinks was forever she took our orders and we had our salads before our drinks even came out.
Dinner was great and dessert also.
Great tavern atmosphere! Highly recommend this place
We love this place. My husband and I have found this quaint restaurant several years ago. We make the 2 hr trip from Long Island a couple of times a year. New owners since last year and the food is still excellent and ambiance great. Bartender Dario friendly and welcoming. Only problem this last visit was our waiter was not attentive, forgot my appetizer and did not describe the duck with the correct sauce. It was still delicious but not what he said and he denied saying it. We will definitely be back...still a great place and excellent value.
Overall a good night considering it was Valentines Day. Our server was great, although we heard others having trouble. The Prime Rib was okay and lobster tails a bit small ( 3-4 oz). While not a deal breaker, I was surprised to see a 2.50 charge for ice with my drink. Apps, salad and dessert were great.
The food was amazing and everything was perfect. The French onion soup is to die for.
Friendly staff, excellent food and great ambiance!
The food was delicious. The staff was courteous and kind. The restaurant was spotless. The ambience was relaxing. We live 2 hours away from the restaurant and we were in town for a ski weekend. We’re planning our next trip and we plan on dining at this restaurant every time!
Large portions. Had the special, seafood risotto and wife had another special , pork chop (1" thick and moist) with cherries and apples over a gouda mashed. The veggies were an extra order.. Excellent. Large pours on the martinis also! Historic location. Win win
Excellent Food and Value ! Love it .
I feel i was back 200 years ago with the amazing history ......................
Plus the drinks were food channel quality
Very old house...drafty and freezing cold. The service was slow and spotty. I know these are difficult times for restaurants but there were 3-4 servers for no more than 10 tables.
Old houses are old houses but there were so many cracks near the windows that it was unbelievably cold, drafty and uncomfortable. Food was ok... not bad but not great.
