About The Hobbit
The Hobbit offers a 7 course prix-fixe menu Wed-Sun with one seating per evening. Cost per person is $88 (plus tax, tip & beverage). Dress Code will be enforced. Our food is "Contemporary Continental" a reference to its encompassing many world cuisines. We begin the evening in our wine cellar where you are handed a flute of Hobbit Champagne. Hors d'oeuvres are placed throughout the cellar, sommelier Amy Cody & wait staff are there to help you select wines for dinner with over 1000 labels to choose from!Guests are then invited upstairs - you will be served a shellfish or fish first course then a fowl or light meat, followed by a salad course. After you enjoy "intermission" (visit the kitchen to speak with the chefs, take a walk, and relax on the patios)then guests return to their refreshed table for a flavorful sorbet palate-cleanser. The main entrée is served complete with accompanying vegetables. Dessert arrives next, along with a list of after dinner drinks and liqueurs.

Came for my anniversary dinner and I was not disappointed. The staff was welcoming, the atmosphere was perfect, and the food was delicious. I mentioned my cinnamon allergy on my reservation, which was accommodated and acknowledged as soon as I checked in. The hors d’oeuvres in the wine cellar were wonderful and plentiful-definitely enough to fill most people up. Each course thereafter did not disappoint. I will definitely be back when they change the menu!
A truly memorable experience! The food and hospitality are the standouts from this dining experience. We have dietary restrictions so we requested a special menu and the chef did not disappoint. In fact, they put together a menu that will now set the bar for all our future dining out. Everyone on the wait staff, was polite and attentive, making the experience overall so special!
This restaurant is amazing. The service is impeccable and the wine cellar full of amazing EXPENSIVE wine. I would definitely bring my own wine.
Come for the cocktail before the dinner begins and get yourself a Martini or an Old-Fashioned. All super good and bartenders great.

One thing, they should have heat lamps downstairs for the food in the cellar because the hot food gets cold.
Eating at The Hobbit was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. It is the perfect place for special occasions, definitely not en everyday kind of place. From start to finish, the service was impeccable. Our servers and sommelier were phenomenal and catered to our every need, even before asking most times. Book this place for your next special occasion, you won't regret it!
After 20+ dinners at the Hobbit, I can assure you that this is a culinary and dining experience not to be missed. Great for a special occasion dinner, the multi course dinner starts in the wine cellar with champagne and world class hors d'oeuvres, you then enter the prime time dining experience that lasts through multiple courses, only interrupted after several initial courses by a welcomed intermission while the table is set for the main course. I recommend either selecting a wine while in the cellar, or better yet enjoying their sommelier prepared wine pairing with selections to match each of the courses you'll be served. This dinner is such a treat. We just celebrated our 15th Hobbit wedding anniversary dinner last week, and will continue with this tradition as long as the Hobbit will be there for this great experience. We've enjoyed several dinners between these anniversary dinners, either for my business partners or for other family guests and celebrations.

Everything was fantastic. If I had one negative it would be that one of the female wait staff is less than friendly. She seemed like she hated it. But everyone's else's positive attitude compensated for her. Unfortunately she greeted us and was around a lot.
My family, friends, and I had an amazing evening dining at The Hobbit. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. The food was exquisite, and our private room made the whole experience a night to remember. We celebrated my dad's 50th birthday here, and I know it was one of his favorite's because of the excellent service and menu. Thank you so much!
We celebrated our son's return from Afghanistan and his wedding anniversary at The Hobbit this past weekend. Not only were the food and service outstanding, staff and management commemorated our son and daughter-in-law's anniversary with a special cocktail and honored him for his service to our country with two bottles of The Hobbit's own label of champagne. For several years now, The Hobbit has been my family's choice for celebrating special occasions. After this weekend, this trend became a tradition. Thank you, Hobbit!
Our third visit to the Hobbit and each visit has been uniquely warm and wonderful. Exceptional French cuisine, stellar staff/service and a truly amazing wine cellar. This is a bucket list restaurant you must visit and enjoy. It is one of our top destinations when celebrating as a couple or with friends.
Food - blah at best, nothing out of the usual, it's like eating Denny's in France. The main course, halibut, about a 2" x 1" square that's very dry.
The Horderves in a basement with wine concept is cool, but the actual execution is poor. Not really finger food friendly, no plates, 1 of the guest was walking down the stairs, waitress says " do not step down", while pouring champagne, guest heard, " take two steps down", no big deal right, just a minor spill on the already dirty concrete floor. Then we all heard the waitress talk in a very degrading voice "I told you don't step down, why did you step down?" Wow, although I don't really care about service, but you would expect a bit better in a so called high end $$$$ french restaurant where you pay for the settings and ambience instead of the food. Because the food itself was certainly not worthy.
Went there to celebrate anniversary, after a lackluster meal, they actually did something nice, brings a dessert wine from the chef, says, the chef made it especially for you, it's a gift for your anniversary. Oh wow, how nice right? Nope. They snuck it in the bill for $9 wine. Are you kidding?
There's really no point to debate with idiots, just take it off on the tips and call it a day. Although the food and service is mediocre, at least it makes a humorous story that can be shared later.
It's way over-priced for what you get. The quality of the food is fair at best. Multiple reviews have suggested to have the appetizers labeled so you know what you're eating as well as having plates for them. The owners obviously don't pay attention, no labels, no plates and most of the appetizers were not finger food friendly, i.e, chopped beef tartare, we needed plates. The service was lackluster, the employees look tired and disinterested. The duck confit was a couple of slivers of duck meat (not kidding, a couple of slivers), which I guess was a blessing since it was tasteless, anyway. My filet mignon, ordered medium rare, was served well done, and was lukewarm when served. For the money you'll spend, definitely not worth it.
We celebrated our anniversary in style at The Hobbit. This is a quiet, romantic restaurant with wine cellar in a renovated home in Orange. I can't believe it's been open for 17 years and I just found out about it. The seven-course price fixe servings were creative and scrumptious, and the service was impeccable. Make sure to visit the upstairs cocktail lounge, outdoor patio, intimate balcony -- and you're even welcome in the kitchen to chat with the chefs.
We celebrated our anniversary with friends who also celebrated their anniversary! The Hobbit staff made our night with great service, amazing food and special touches like the butter shaped like a rose Their focus on customer service and excellent cuisine made our evening a truly special occasion!
This was our first time. We enjoyed the appetizers in the cellar and the delicious champagne! I had the filet and asked for it to be well done. It was the most tender and delicious filet I've ever had! Service was very attentive. My only criticism is to limit smoking on the outdoor patio. Someone was smoking a cigar and therefore we were not able to enjoy the patio area because of it.
