Great atmosphere. They present a great meal and have a great attention to the customers.
For almost 50 years this has been one of the best place for our grand events. Also one of the best wine list in the USA.
Amazing place. You don’t get a dining experience like that very often.
We had a wonderful dining experience and can’t wait to go back.
Absolutely loved this place the first visit so we rebooked for the Beef Wellington!!! It was amazing. Staff was great food was lovely!
We had a wonderful time and everything was delicious!
This was our second time dining at the Hobbit. Both experiences were wonderful!
Great dinning with a cozy ambiance and super tasty menu. The wines suggested were also great. Overall not too cheap but worth the money for a special occasion !
Wonderful dining experience. Excellent food and service. Great special occasion restaurant.
Incredible 4 hour experience. It is designed that way and creates a very special evening.
The entire evening was incredible. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, the food was delectable and the house was very charming. You really felt like you were transported to an evening at a royal estate. My favorite part was the hors d’oeuvre hour in the wine cellar.
This restaurant has a unique character and we had an exceptional experience. The service was impeccable. All of the dishes they served were wonderful but we especially enjoyed the appetizers, especially the beef tartar. The Hobbit has an excellent array of wines to choose from. The prix fixe price is $92 but with wine, tax and gratuity the total cost as closer to $200 per person. Definitely recommend for a special occasion or splurge night.
After much anticipation, I finally experience The Hobbit. The restaurant is unique and cozy. Prepare to spend 3-4 hours minimum. The service was wonderful. The food was beautiful to look at and eat. My only negative comment would be that if you are a pescatarian prepare to pay an additional up charge for your entree. Which would not have been bad if the fish was wild caught. When you make your reservation, they ask about any dietary restrictions. All
in all, the night was fun. You aren’t waiting for long stretches for the next course and the amount of food is filling. I would recommend.
Good food, and I loved the wine cellar / appetizers, so good and champagne was so good I had to buy one to take home. The steak was a little small, but there was so much food, I was full anyways. I am glad I experienced this dinner, but If you don’t want a 4 hour dinner experience, this is not for you. We didn’t leave until 10:45/11 pm and it started at 7. Love it though, but it wasn’t my husbands cup of tea.
We came to the Hobbit for our 41st anniversary-as we have many years in the past. It is a lovely experience. Our favorite part is the appetizers in the basement wine cellar. Delicious champagne. Wonderful variety and amazing appetizers. Could spend the entire evening just nibbling and tasting. You then move upstairs to the 5-6 course menu. This night was their spring menu. Most of the food in this part of the evening is good but falls a bit short after the food downstairs. Scallops with homemade fettuccine was very good. Duck stuffed quail was odd and heavy but okay. Pear salad was okay. Salmon and steak were both good to very good. Dessert was fine. Service is very good and the wine pairings were mostly good. We do love coming and hope to return soon. Thanks for a nice evening.
Wow how do you describe a wonderful experience, there probably are not enough superlatives to explain The Hobbit. It’s totally different from any restaurant I have been to it’s very warm and inviting environment. The people are very friendly and gracious you feel comfortable right away. The food is excellent cooked and presented expertly by the chef. A nice touch is you get to visit the chef and talk with him.
The nice thing is there are not people going in and out like a regular restaurant. the guests are there with you for the whole experience.
The concept it totally unique, wonderful and intimate.
Great experience and pairings. Great atmosphere and service
A wonderful night. Amazing food! Impeccable service! An overall fabulous evening
Absolutely fantastic. Attended a pharmaceutical function the first time, loved it so much and decided to return with the wife to celebrate our 13th anniversary. Memorable cocktails, epic wine cellar experience and excellent dinner menu including the wine pairings. Can’t wait to return.
Quality, upscale dining, but with a snooty set of diners. Also during the ‘intermission’ we had the opportunity to explore the kitchen and speak to the chef, who was not at all friendly. I did not much enjoy the rigid atmosphere, nor the amount of space between courses. Also during the intermission a few lcustomers decided to smoke cigars on the patio. The smell tracked indoors to the main dining room and was awful.
Everyone was really great! Great, friendly and accommodating service. I would definitely recommend you guys to everyone I know.
Amazing food and service !! We enjoyed wine pairing , special bottle selection from their cellar and cocktails at the bar
The Hobbit is a fun night out. It’s a bit pricey, so we just go for special occasions, but otherwise it’s great. The atmosphere is a bit quiet and reserved, so if you have a loud group I wouldn’t recommend it.
It was an AMAZING experience. Food was perfect sized so never felt overly full. Incredible wine selection
The entire evening from beginning to end was exquisite. The staff, the food, the wine, the ambience all leave you wanting for another evening spent at “The Hobbit”.
Beautiful as always! Love this restaurant! Great food, fun dining experience! An OC must do!
They never disappoint, excellent from start to finish. We love it with the wine pairing
The ambiance was perfect, the wine pairing was excellent, the food preparation was well done although not particularly innovative, for the price it was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone. It would have been more fun with a group of 4 or more due to the setup.
Another perfect dining experience! Will be back for sure.
It’s a lovely restaurant with excellent food and service. Just be aware that it is an experience rather than a normal restaurant where you order, eat and then leave. Plan on spending several hours there. The menu is prefix and served in leisurely courses. No jumping ahead or rushing courses. The entree wasn’t served until almost ten o’clock. It was a very long but nonetheless nice evening.
The Hobbit did not disappoint. The food was excellent and the cocktails at the beginning hour was superb. It is a dining experience as it is not a quick dinner but well worth the time and money.
This is one of the most unique dining experiences I have ever had. The food was amazing & the service fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant to all. It’s hard to get a reservation, but well worth the wait. The only suggestions I have would be for them to offer a wine pairing selection to go with the courses at an additional cost. Also, maybe add a communal table for those guests who want to interact more with other diners.
Highly recommended. Make sure you arrive in time to have a drink in the upstairs bar. The food was excellent as was the staff. We'll be back.
I enjoyed it very much although I had been long ago and the upstairs room had a bar open during intermission. This made the intermission a memorable part of the night. I had bragged about how great the experience was and the bar at intermission was a big part... This time the bar was closed... why is there an intermission if there is no particular memory for your client? I left a little bummed for that reason.
Fancy meal, you start with champagne and apps in the wine cellar where you can pick a bottle of wine to eat with your meal, or do a pre-selected wine tasting, or just have non-alcoholic drinks like water. Then you begin your dining experience, very fancy food and looks pretty.
Great place! Will definitely go back. Excellent food and wine
Wonderful experience. This was our third time at this restaurant.
It was amazing. Quite the experience, ambience is sophisticated and at the same time gives a homey feeling. Staff is knowledgeable and eager to explain the history of the establishment. Definitely will be coming back. Loved every minute. Also thankfully towards customer service, I feel they made a real effort... called weeks in advance to check on allergies and to accommodate spectacularly
This used to be a house. So upstairs there's still a full tub bathroom and two rooms that they use; one for the bar and one as a lounge area. The lounge area has a little balcony you can walk on to. It's tiny but cute. The room with the bar is dimly lit. The drinks are strong and delicious. Once they are ready they call you to the cellar. Wine bottles line the walls. The lowest priced is $50 then goes up, to way up, from there. There are apps through out. Everything I tasted was yummy. And they keep your champagne glasses filled, as you eat, check out the wines and mingle. Then they let you know dinner is ready and bring you back upstairs to where you first entered. There are two dinning room areas. I loved that we were in the larger one with the fireplace. The decor is lovely and again dimly lit. The scallops and shrimp were so delicious. The salad was good. The beef Wellington was the main dish our night. It was delicious. $95 for everything, minus the bar at the beginning that's extra. If you pick wine with dinner that's extra. I feel for the unlimited hor derves and unlimited champagne pours, depending how you drink - coupled with the decor and each course being delicious this is an ok price. I personally would love to go back.
