   Poor service, pstronising waitress. Not made to feel comfortable when food choices were unavailable.

   The Hillside Inn is a lovely place for a meal with friends and family. The menu is well constructed and the service was attentive and friendly. The large inglenook open fireplace adds warmth and a glow to the bar area.

   Average chain pub food. Vegetarian roast was ok, but potatoes were not crispy and clearly mass produced.

   I am a regular visitor but food really wasn’t great today Both my lattes were like warm and my pate wasn’t great no chutney and my friends steak sandwich was undercooked and cold . Customer service was brilliant steak recooked and taken off the bill. Overall very disappointing today

   Second time I’ve used Open Table to book The Hillside Inn , to find out they don’t have our booking. Fortunately they have found us table but how do they put that correct? It makes you feel you haven’t booked until they can see the booking on my phone.

   I was pleased that I could get a small meal . Most pubs do not offer this and as an elderly customer I usually end up leaving food on my plate. Well done.

   Unfriendly greeting. Table not ready for booked time and had to keep chasing whether table was ready - waiting 20 mins eventually. Then took further hour for starters to be served and further hour waiting for main course. Roast beef was ok but looked as if it had been thrown on the plate and quality of potatoes, vegetables poor. Yorkshire puddings were flat and only slightly warm. If the restaurant cannot cope with busy periods on busy days they shouldn't book so many people in. It was quite clear they couldn't cope. At least our waiter was polite, friendly and helpful.

    We often eat at the Hillside Inn. The food is reasonable and service is always excellent. On this occasion I booked through Open Table and although I received confirmation of the booking, the restaurant was full and had not received my booking. The staff were very helpful and fortunately managed to find us a table. Moral - book direct which I normally do.
