Honey Fried Chicken
smashed potato, sauteed kale, onion marmalade, truffle honey
Dinner date with my hubby! Excellent food. Never a disappointment. Service over the top Amazing. One of our most favorite spots!
Ariya was so great! She recommended the shrimp and grits and the fried chicken- as well as which Pinot Noir to get- everything was amazing! Only complaint would be the cosmopolitan- super tart! Amazing dinner otherwise 👍🏻
We enjoyed Hideout Kitchen very much. Never having been to Lamorinda before, it was nice to find a comfortable restaurant with good food.
Our server was attentive and friendly, food nicely plated and tasty.
We would be happy to come back again!
Everything was delicious as always. JB and his staff are amazing. We had the honey fried chicken and the shrimp and grits. We also devoured the mascarpone toast. We enjoy every time we eat here.
We were seated in the 'living room' at a low table, sitting in comfy arm chairs, next to an electric faux-fireplace with card games displayed on top. Played a funny song trivia game; possibly too loudly for the other dozen diners who were chatting quietly. But we're good singers, so no one complained - at least not to us.
We started with a seafood appetizer, patatas bravas and split a Lafayette salad. Drank an IPA and a Kolsch. That could have been enough. But why stop there?
Our entrees were seafood stew, fried chicken and lamb chops. All delicious. We almost got through all that. The portions are no joke.
Sadly, no room for dessert. We'll have to go back.
We had a delicious dinner last night with our friends in celebration of my husband’s birthday. Our server, Lexie, was exceptional. We were so impressed with the cocktails and food. We will definitely be back soon.
It was an off night. The Hideout is one of my favorite places. But tonight, was not that great. We just ordered our dinner and a wait person came over and asked us to leave because we overstayed our time. Apparently there is two seatings and she asked us to leave. I explained to her we just got there, and she liked confused. She came back later and said she was told the wrong table and could she order us drinks. Needless to say, our drinks never came. I had ordered the market fish special and it was way over seasoned. Same with the roasted vegetables. My partner ordered the rib eye steak and it was too fatty and came burnt. When we asked about our drinks our other wait person said the other one didn’t put the order in. It was bit of a cluster. I understand that reopening has made it challenging to get back into the groove.
I want to first start by saying the service was really great here. Unfortunately the food wasn’t as great as I hoped nor the atmosphere. Our napkins were dirty with food particles stuck on it like cheese. My ribeye wasn’t even a full ribeye but appeared to be off ends. Granted you can’t expect a 40 dollar steak to be amazing but when it’s not even a ribeye intact cut it was very disappointing.
Very good neighborhood restaurant in Lafayette. Went for dinner and was seated in lovely outdoor courtyard space. Waitress was very, very friendly and took our orders right away. We opted to share a flatbread - which took forever to come out of kitchen. Our server kept updating us - "it's on its way" but was overly optimistic - took much longer than she let on. Once it arrived, it was fine - arugula & mushroom flatbread - toppings were good, the flatbread seemed to be frozen, store-bought dough and not fresh. The entrees came out quickly after the flatbread...too quickly. Poor spacing due to the delay in the starter - but the entrees were better, and large portions. Husband got the lambchops - came with 5 lambchops, and large portion of sides - potato gratin and roasted vegetables - lambchops were under-seasoned (needed salt) but otherwise cooked perfectly. I had the seafood stew - which was well executed...spicy tomato broth and perfectly cooked seafood. We both ordered wine by the glass - small but good selection of wines and a nice, generous pour! No room for dessert - maybe next time, if we're back in Lafayette!
Check to ensure entree isn’t burnt on one side before you start eating.
Seemed a bit deceiving that one side my rib eye was perfectly cooked and side against the plate was charred beyond belief. Was a good experience and appetizers were tasty but the rib eye soured the entire experience. I could still taste burnt ash in the morning.
Chelsea, our waitress, was very attentive and was delightful. The food, as usual, was great.
Love ambiance, we sat outside in the garden area. It was my friend's birthday, so we toasted with the Vincent's sparkling wine, then enjoyed half saleds before our entrees. My friend loved the Wedge Salad, I loved the Lafayette salad. We both had the blackened salmon and asked for vegetables only, no rice pilaff. It was delicious! Then our wonderful server asked us to choose a dessert, it was on the house. The birthday girl chose the waffle churro with vanilla ice cream .. omg it was heavenly!!
Excellent food, courteous service, superb ambience. Highly recommended!
Yummy food and great outdoor patio
I want to say that the pasa gene and chicken parmigiana we had was spectacular. A lot of food in the portion so we grabbed enough to take home for lunch the nest day. Our server was extremely friendly but so was the water server. The service is top notch. The only down side was the atmosphere outside. If you make reservations and atmosphere is important to you make sure you are sitting inside (very cozy & romantic) or if outside pick a table that is not on the outer edge against the parking lot ..(your view will be the front fender of the car parked less than 2 feet away. If it’s dark maybe less of an issue.
Our server was so nice and knew the items if you had any questions.
My sisters and I finally got together and it was a fun yummy experience. We had flatbreads salad and wine. Perfect. Will definitely go again!!
Food is overpriced (though some portions are really, really big). Good atmosphere and very friendly staff.
From the moment we entered we loved everything about the place. Beautiful decor and feel. The food was amazing and our serve was awesome! Price was well worth the quality of food and the amount of food. We will definitely be returning soon!
great dinner, we enjoyed the lamb chops and the fried chicken! soooo tasty!
Outiside patio dining in May is awesome! They bring out heaters that are nice for evening chill. Our server was exceptional, not overbearing, but gave just the right amount of attention. She even offered to take a photo of us as we were celebrating an event (and did an excellent job too). Appetizers I had marscapone toast (walnuts, bit of honey) is better than desert! Carmelized brussells sprouts with apples were good, but I prefer them as "petals" and not whole. Our table had blackened salmon (good!), linguinini with clams (also good!), fried chicken served with smashed potatoes (also good!), and a seafood stew with bread (again good!), only one of us could finish the meal and our server thoughtfully asked if we wanted take out boxes and brought them right away. You use a QR code to read menus (COVID change). Excellent ambiance and attention with people quickly refillng water pitcher, glasses, and removing plates. We went early due to meeting afterward, but place filled up as got closer to 7pm. Recommend making a reservation. and heartily recommend!
Great food, great service
The owner, JB, has done an amazing job with the food and staff. 1dt rate restaurant. I would go every day if I could.
LOVED the annex room and will ask to be seated there on our next visit.
The location was nice our waiter was nice the food wasn’t good at all especially for the price will not be back
Everything was good except the bbq chicken flat bread didn’t seem hot when it came to the table.
The only thing that outshined our delicious dinner was the outstanding, friendly service from Lexie, our server. The grilled veggies that were served in place of warm kale were cooked to perfection. Loved the brussel sprout appetizer and honey chicken too. The only thing I didn't love was the the cost of the meal. Seemed a bit high for a fried chicken meal, but worth the indulgence once in a while. I'm not from the Bay area, so I'm not used to the inflated prices in the area.
Even though we were unable to get outside dining, we were seated inside with a fully opened window behind our table, so it felt like we were outside.
The hideout and Vic’s in Martinez are incredible. The food, the service, and setting is phenomenal. All a good decision to make when you’re good out to breakfast/brunch and dinner
Delicious food and a very sweet server, Lexie. I always love going to the High Out
Great food! Conscious of my allergies which was greatly appreciated. Will definitely be back!
1st time here. Very cute place. Both outdoor and indoor seating. Had the fried chicken. It was very good - crisp, fresh and tasty. Got the Magic Bar for dessert. Also delicious. Great service. Would definitely recommend this place.
The place is like a glove. The food and service is unpretentious high quality. It brings comfort.
This was our first time dining at The Hideout Kitchen & Cafe and it was wonderful! We enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere, the delicious food and excellent service. Looking forward to dining there again in the near future.
It was perfect with the reservation. Once we check in, our table was ready for us. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Can’t wait to go back again.
Service was amazing! I'd go back just to be served by Chelsea. Friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and bar. NOT a gluten free friendly restaurant. Only one entree on menu was marked GF. That was disappointing.
One of the best restaurants we've been to in many years. Food was fresh, perfectly cooked, high quality, and NOT over priced.
A totally refreshing chang to most places we've been.
Dining outside was good and although it was a cold night, heaters and the fact that the restaurant patio is set back and protected, it was perfect. Waitress and help were friendly and attentive. Dinner was tasty.
❤️ loved the fried chicken!
Both the service and food were amazing!!! A really great experience!
Service was excellent and the food is amazing! Love the outdoor seating and ambiance. My friends and I love meeting here for dinner.
