Loved it. It was my first time here although I've been to tensure Potting Shed a few times. The staff at the Herbalist were fab anday the food amazing.
Must say we were disappointed with The Herblist . The service was ok. The chairs were really uncomfortable and hurt our legs. Was the same menu as The Potting Shed . I picked the same meal as The potting Shed but when delivered to the table I thought it was a mistake and they had given me a starter. Left very hungry . Hands up to The Potting Shed with their meals as was far bigger and much more satisfying . Won't be going again.
The restaurant was way too late, couldn’t even hear the waiters. The food was average and the service was not good. No one checked on us to see how our meal was, took way too long to get the attention of anyone to get a drink and we sat there with plates on our table for a good 20 minutes after finishing our food while the waiters avoided looking at us
The Service and food choice was first class, the room was warm and well presented, the manager came over and chatted.
overall; this was a very good experiace and i would recommend to everyone and definately eat there myself again.
A great dining experience, will definitely be returning. Variety of menu choices, flavoursome food and first class service from friendly and knowledgeable staff who went the extra mile to make our evening enjoyable and memorable.
Had dinner Saturday night with friends, food, setting and service all spot on!
Food and service very good but noise level very noisey couldnt hear each other
We thoroughly enjoyed our food and the service was superb..
We visited The Herbalist as a party of 12 and were very impressed with the service, choice of food and value for money. The drinks and orders were taken quickly and efficiently and we all enjoyed a pleasant afternoon. I would highly recommend.
great lunch. all very good. better portion sizes was worried due to visiting Potting bShed and The Farm House...as never full when i leave there! Id prefer to travel to here even though local to Potting Shed
I really do like this place, as the food is good and the restaurant was it really nice, however the level of service went from being good to not brothering to come see if we wanted any more drinks or if we wanted the bill. In the end I had to ask for the bill and go to the counter to ask if I could pay by card, really I didn't expect this as it wasn't Nandos.
Had an amazing three course meal and birthday boogie in the downstairs club stayed there all night great club chart and house music played all night, I was offered a great deal, a booth for six people and a free bottle of prosecco for thirty pounds
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Herbalist. My partner is vegetarian but on a vegan diet and we both enjoyed the range of options available for all courses. It was our anniversary and we were surprised with a shared anniversary platter, hand written, a lovely touch! The meals are a bit more expensive than we would normally choose, but it was a special occasion, so we didn't mind. We are not local to Maidstone, but happy to travel to such a lovely place. We will definitely come back and will recommend the Herbalist to our friends!
What a huge, well presented dining space. The Herbalist attracts a, given the prices, affluent youngster. The restaurant has a wealth of menu options. The descriptions are some of the best I’ve seen on any menu. Food including less subtle dishes such as pizzas (cooked in their open, wood pizza oven) and burgers. It does have a range of finer dining options for the seafood, steak and vegetable lover. The experience can be described more as American dining. Don’t expect it to be intimate, but social and jocular. Great for groups.
Service is good, perceptive and caring. Food is served promptly and prepared to a good standard.
Amazing food and service. We were not rushed and the staff were amazing-especially Peter. It was a surprise birthday lunch so they let me bring a cake and balloons down before with no fuss at all. Could not recommend enough, even people from out of the area said they would be back!
Our waiter made us feel so rushed .. Huffed and puffed a lot . To noisey to hear my friends conversation .
Expensive for the quality. Not much choice on the menu. The apple crumble dessert was not hot but the dish on which it was served would burn fingers.
Overall we had a lovely meal there however I requested emergency service discount off our meal which wasn’t honoured. I was told it couldn’t be used on a Saturday but I don’t feel that was acceptable.
I would appreciate some clarification on this please.
I have been to the Herbalist a couple of times and it has always been nice. Unfortunately found the service a bit lacking on this occasion. The restaurant was empty but service was slow and took a while to get our bill especially. I wanted to swap one of my breakfast items (black pudding) for something else (avocado) but was not allowed to. That said the staff were friendly.
It was a really lovely night! It was so busy( as it was New Year’s Eve ) but the two staff members that served us were really nice and we have no complaints. Lovely drinks and pizzas . We look forward to coming again x
Excellent service and excellent food for a table of 15 for Sunday lunch. Would highly recommend.
Staff went out of their way to make sure we had a lovely lunch. The blonde guy (sorry - can’t remember his name!) even went to the shop to get squirty cream for our hot chocolate. Many thanks!!
We were impressed with the food! It was very noisy but the time of the year being Christmas we accepted it!
Lovely meal, good food, attentive service and nice to stay on for a drink at the bar.
We booked for 5 of us on the Friday before Christmas at 5.30pm, there was two tables finishing and a table of two left in the restaurant so not when they were manically busy. After we were finally seated and given menus we had to go and ask for a wine list and to order drinks, after half an hour of no one coming over we went to see if we could order some food. A harassed member of staff briskly took our food offer and said he'd chase up our drinks order which had clearly been forgotten.
The food arrived in a timely manner and was really good, everyone enjoyed all aspects of the food, nicely presented, well seasoned. the menu was interesting and varied. Later during the meal we had a new waiter serving us who was an absolute pleasure, really helpful and advised some excellent cocktails for us to try. If it hadn't been for this gentleman then it would have completely ruined the evening. I would try this restaurant again and just hope that the two really unhelpful members of staff were not working
Food was excellent and staff were attentive and cheerful. Would go back anytime.
Excellent service. Lovely interior and atmosphere. Food came out quickly and was piping hot and delicious. Kids pack excellent. Kept both children entertained. Good choice of wine and beer.
Fantastic service and food have been here 4 times now love it
Took approx 20 mins just to get a soft drink. Starters came out before our drinks. Staff were understandably rushed due to it being close to Christmas but were rude when serving food and when serving desert referred to it as “chocolate brownie or whatever”. Food tasted good and was hot but unfortunately the wait time and the service meant we did not enjoy the meal fully.
Go for the pancakes 🥞
Lovely ambience, great service
Shame we were rudely turfed off our table at 8:20 having reserved the table for 6:30pm and SPECIFICALLY asking on booking if that would happen, as i wondered if that might be the case, and would not have booked our annual Xmas do with you of that had been the case. I was told a note had been put on the system and we would be able to have the table for longer. On the night we were then told we’d have to eat our pudding in the ridiculously crowded and raucous bar... needless to say we cancelled pudding. This is a management issue and a shame because tbh the other aspects of the evening were good. We probably won’t come back as a result and as a group of 9 professional women from all across Kent the story will spread!
The Herbalist is a lovely place. A really good addition to Maidstone. Restaurant and bar area are lovely and it has a relaxing ambience.
Food was really nice and reasonably priced.
Very noisy couldn’t hear any conversation from my friends due to noise ! Expensive Xmas turkey dinner didn’t live up to its description on menu . Have eaten here a few times and standard was much higher previously than the other night .... disappointed
I had the best night on wedseday for my 50th bday celebrations .. the food was amazing and great value for money.. generous portions and friendly staff.. very impressed.. thankyou
what a let down for our work Christmas meal, half of what we ordered wasn’t even available and one of our guests who is heavily pregnant when ordering her food was criticised by the waitress for what she was ordering! So rude, definitely will not be returning
Service was good but food was very poor, I wouldn't recommend for food but atmosphere vibrant for drinking
After being seated at our table, there was a considerable wait to get a drink...!
Then we were pounced on a couple of times in quick succession to see if we were ready to order food, which we quite clearly weren’t. Then unfortunately there was a long wait to order food once we were ready to order.
Food was served in a timely manner. I had the dick breast with potato fondant and veg. Not bad, although the duck was a bit tough and the fondant was a tad undercooked. The jus that went with the dish lacked a bit of punch, but that may be because I like strong sauces..!
Overall, not bad.
Dined with friends, hair was found in one dish, but that’s just one of those things. Service was good and didn’t have to chase for anything- drinks sauces etc.
1st visit. Lovely brunch. Good value.
Must say not overly impressed with our experience, waiter did not explain that the starters we ordered would be to much to eat as we would of got away with 1 garlic flatbread, not much choice on the menu and quite overpriced and the chairs are very uncomfortable 😣 all in all not a good visit and don’t think I would visit again
