The Heartline Cafe Ratings and Reviews
We have been eating here for close to 18 years and this visit was a huge disappointment. On a Saturday evening the restaurant was almost empty which should have been a tip off that we weren't going to have a good experience. Service was just fine but the food was really terrible. Rack of lamb over cooked, mashed potatoes tasted like they were a week old, vegetables barely cooked and the entire plate lukewarm at best. My fellow diners means fared the same. The food should have all been sent back but we were too tired after the days activities and just went home unsatisfied. We will not return which is very sad. It used to be a highlight of our visits to Sedona.
Food was the worst we had in Sedona. Service was bad. The ambiance we were looking for was not there as we were not even greeted when we got there. Votive candle was finished and not replaced. No candle lighted. The fish of the day was not fresh snd lobster cake had almost no lobster taste. Imagine paying for a worthless prime rib. We will not recommend this restaurant to any of our friends
Celebrating Christmas dinner at this restaurant was a bit dissapoibting. The set menu left much to be desired. The soup course was served not as hot as it should have been. The salad was just ok, nothing special. The main course for vegetarians was stated as a vegetable linguine which I felt should have been stated on the menu as being a spiral cut sweet potato not pasta. Upon complaint a plate of pasta was quickly supplied as a substitute. Therefore service gets a higher mark. On the meat dish which my husband ordered, the mashed potatoes were not served hot.
Christmas special menu was the only items available. This was acceptable to us since we were visiting from out of town and did not know if restaurants would be over crowded. It was a welcome to surprise to arrive to an empty dining room. Service, food were good. Having a nice quiet dining room was appreciated.
We had visited Heartline 15 years ago and were anxious to return again. We were a bit nervous that no one else was in the restaurant. But the staff and food once again exceeded our expectations. The trout is totally delicious. Thank you Heartline for a marvelous dining experience once again.
Vegan/gluten free options are very limited. Lot of loud kitchen noises from equipment and plates being shuffled. I was led to believe this was a premium restaurant, if they are, they have a lot of catch up work to do. Food quality and variety was just so-so. Nothing to brag about.
I felt a couple of restaurants across the street were better in service, ambiance, quality of food with a GF/Vegan friendly menu.
In some aspects, Oreganos which is nearby outshined this restaurant.
We went on Thanksgiving night but Heartline did not have a table available for us despite making a reservation 1 month prior to the date. The Thanksgiving menu was not posted clearly on the website so we did not know there were no other menus available. The hostess was rude and did not seem to care that we were going to leave or even that we were even there waiting. I will not go back here again. There are so many other restaurants in Sedona that serve healthy meals with much better service and for half the price.
Came for Thanksgiving - a pre fixe menu, we had reservations. Place was not full. Sat for over 25 minutes after we asked the waitress for the wine list. That was the only time we ever saw her. Couple next to us had been served wine but received no food the entire time we were there. As we were leaving told the woman who appeared to be the manager what the issue was - maybe just the hostess, she made no offer to solve the problem. Better places to go.
We tried this restaurant after receiving a gift certificate while on vacation in Sedona. Everything from the appetizers to the main courses were all excellent, and the service was fantastic! I would highly recommend this restaurant.
I do have to say it was a little difficult to see, as they definitely need more lighting outside...it is a hidden gem in Sedona!
Food was excellent, wine was a generous pour. There was a small child in restaurant that we were seated by. (Should have set new diners away). We got up and changed tables ourselves, and then all was fine.
Grilled lamb chops heavenly and pecan crusted rainbow trout fabulous. We were very happy with our meals.
We have been to the Sedona area over the last 30 years. The Heartline was always our go to place. Very disappointed this trip. We asked for the steak rare, it was well done. When you are dining with another, to send it back does not work. The drink I ordered was very weak, I'm wondering if there was any vodka at all. We knew there was an issue when the waitperson asked us to pay in cash, with a discount offered. Very disappointed.
What a disaster of a Mother's Day brunch. With the large amount of people inside the restaurant, the location of the buffet line and the table arraignment, I'm surprised Sedona Fire Department didn't come in and shut the place down for over occupancy and egress issues. Parking was a debacle, watched 2 vehicles almost get hit while they were backing onto 89A when there was no parking, the girl serving at the buffet table had no idea what she was doing, they ran out of plates and adult beverages, and the quiche was inedible...way too salty. Couple next to us comment that his hypertension rose significantly after one bite due to the salt. The entire meal was nothing more than an over priced Denny's breakfast.....$18 for eggs, bacon, inedible quiche, cold sliced ham, but all the donuts and cookies you can eat....most expensive donut my 9 year old ever ate.
Do yourself and your mother a favor next year and just take her out to McDonalds. Better quality food and 1/4 the price.
This is a very difficult review for me to write as this has been one of my favorite, go-to restaurants for several years, however, my last two experiences were way below par. This year it was particularly unsatisfactory. My husband ordered rack of lamb rare and the first time it was brought it was more than well done, the second time it was just well done and the third time it was medium. The strange thing was the lady at the table next to ours had a beautiful portion and it was rare. For some reason the kitchen just couldn't get this order right. The menu has lost it's oomph and overall it was just disappointing. I will say that the waitress (who appeared to be the only server) tried very hard and was really pleasant and helpful. She was as frustrated as we were!
Rainy night and we were about the only ones in the restaurant. The food was very good, flavorful and well prepared and presented with a number of things to choose from. Our service was very friendly and knowledgeable but our appetizer order overlooked and not delivered as a result we received an complementary desert with is was very good and very original.
We have been to the Heartline Cafe three time in the past 10 years. We go their for special occasions. This visit was pleasant and we primed to be happy, someone would have to try pretty hard to mess up this night. My wife had the pecan crusted rainbow trout and I had the pastachio chicken. We shared a bottle of a Malbec Argentinian wine. My wife always is first to never have the same entree twice except when we go to Heartline Cafe. She has never ordered anything but the pecan crusted rainbow trout. I am forced to experiment so she can have her fish and try other items on the menu.
Minor complaint; we were about finished with our salad when our bottle of wine showed up. We had to grab one of the employees and make an inquiry then the bottle of wine was promptly brought to the table already uncorked. We poured the first glass of wine. We are not much for formalities but the table next to us had a much different wine experience.
We had a great time!
Not very attentive at first after being seated, but that soon changed and service was very friendly and good. Clean, cozy, and a very nice ambiance especially for dinner conversation.
We're vegetarian and there weren't but a couple of 'foodie' selections in that department although I'm sure they would be happy to tweak any of the recipes. Without a bigger selection we will probably return only occasionally. We also thought it would be nice to have a sparkling wine or procesco offered by the glass and more other wine varieties by the glass as well on their drink menu. A very nice selection of wines though. Between the 2 of us we ordered a hummus plate (generous size) to share and each had the grilled veggies in a light wasabi sauce over rice. Perfect sized portion for moderate eaters and very tasty. After a glass of Cartena Padrillo Malbec Reserve 2014 we were very satisfied and skipped dessert....this time. We came here on a recommendation and would recommend it as well.
Haven't dined here in about 8-9 years. W e'd heard all sorts of comments lately about the dining experience here. We had an evening dinner here recently and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Service was great, food cooked to order and delicious. Prices weren't too bad also. Definitely recommend the Heartline Cafe!
Christmas day dinner was good. Nothing noteworthy, though the butternut squash pear soup was very tasty. Service was friendly. Wines plentiful and reasonably priced given Sedona. By the way, bartender was lovely, sharp and our mixed drink specials were terrific.
We visited on Xmas evening, so had a prix fixe menu to choose from. The soup and salad options were lovely (though my husband was NOT a fan of the soup and sadly there were no other choices), as were the cocktails & wine, however the entree left something to be desired. We both had the prime rib and our cuts were mostly fat and the meat itself was quite tough. The service we received was only OK in my opinion, but I did see another server taking better care of her tables, so sadly that was just the luck of the draw receiving the not-as-attentive or -friendly server. Overall, I would say it was a decent experience, but doesn't have me wanting to run back for another visit. That said, I would give it another try not on a holiday, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
