The Harmony Inn
The restaurant can be dark but if you like that kind of atmosphere then you would like it.
We had a reservation and when we arrived we were told it would be an hour, we waited well over an hour. When we were seated we were told they were out of all the dishes we wanted! This was never mentioned prior! This is a German restaurant and there were no German dishes left. Very disappointing. We have been here plenty of times and this was horrible. Especially on Mother’s Day.
My family and I love The Harmony Inn. We frequent lunch and dinner at least monthly. Unfortunately Mother's day was not entirely delightful here. We were patient and understanding but we did wait over an hour to be sat even though we had a reservation. The music was a bit loud but it was fine if you weren't in the bar area. Once we finally we seated- everything was wonderful. Still a positive experience even though there were obvious issues with the reservation situation.
Yes, it was Mothers day, the place was busy. It was only 5:00, they were out of the three best things on the menu. We just ordered hamburgers and chili. The chili hardly had any 'stuff' in it and tasted like watered down ketchup. The burgers came out and neither one had the correct toppings. On the second try, mine was okay but my wife's went back for try number three. Once correct, the burger was tasty. I ordered dessert which took over 20 minutes to receive.
We came here for Mother’s Day .. had a reservation for 4:15 was sat i time. Out waitress took 15 mins to come to our table then another 20 to get our order. After another 15 mins she came back and told us things were ordered were all gone, along with other numerous food items when we ordered. Our food took a long time to come and some was great others not so much. My sons Mac and cheese was very cold, my burger was dried out and when I asked for extra bbq sauce they charged me for it. I typically love this place but it has really been terrible lately. It was busy but at the time we got there it wasn’t over packed and still bad service. Very disappointed with it all.
We are very sorry for your experience on Mother's Day. There is no excuse for the poor service and lack of food. We would like you to give us another chance if you would be willing to. A manager will be reaching out!
Normally the Harmony Inn is great & we go there quite a bit, however it was a horrible experience on Mother’s Day. They were out of everything we wanted, even the wine we requested. It was a bit ridiculous and poor planning on their part I would say.... however we will continue to go back because normally they are very good & have good food & drinks!!
Mother’s Day brunch was lovely and very nice selection
It was nice and the food was good. The inn itself has a lot of character. we were wishing we were outside with all the bar people instead of inside having dinner because the outside people really looked like they were having a lot of fun.
Too loud.food was average.over priced . Will not go back
Very yummy, highly recommend. It is a bit loud. Crazy busy, make reservations, but delish!
Our appetizers and dinners were very good. Our waiter was very entertaining! Only issues were that we had a 6:30 reservation and did not get seated until 7:00. That was ok as we sat in the bar and watched the Kentucky Derby. I had also asked for a table in a corner out of the way of traffic when doing the online reservation. The table was in the corner but right next to the kitchen door with constant traffic. Oh well, we still had great food and a great time. Will definitely go back. There are a lot of interesting dinners that we need to try!
We were staying at an RV park about 10 miles away but looking for something other than country cooking. The Harmony Inn was a superb experience from the server, to the atmosphere to the fabulous food. We had the Best of the Wurst and not a single bite was left over! Highly recommend the Harmony Inn for an amazing dining experience!
Food was very good. Service was a little slow but ok for Saturday
Everything was terrific from the staff, the food, and even though it was chilly in the dining room, well worth it. Food is delicious and the beer selection is awesome!!!
Harmony Inn is a great place to eat. The historical atmosphere is worth the trip. Prices are reasonable, good variety of menu items, great staff attitude. This is where I take out of town guests. The only thing I'd change is I'd rather have a regular glass for my drink, and not a pint canning jar. But that is a trifle.
Service was slow but otherwise everything good
Food was good (once we received it all - plates were brought out with several missing items). Service was very subpar. Out of the five tables in our immediate area, we overheard issues/complaints at every table. Won’t be returning.
Food was outstanding Service was great and knowledgeable of menu
Our meal was enjoyable. There was a live band which was good but did make our conversation more difficult. The blueberry strudel was very good so save room for a dessert to share. I had weinersnitchel and was surprised the the veal was deep fried as were the potato pancakes. I always get the German potato salad.
But, service was incredibly slow....we were there for over 2 hours for lunch....appeared to be short-staffed and not ready for folks to sit outside on such a nice day. The ice cream with our desserts was significantly melted which suggested they had been sitting.....while we like the food, had yesterday been our first experience there it is unlikely we would decide to go back. No apologies were offered for the extremely slow service.
We usually enjoy our visit to Harmony Inn but Saturday’s visit was a disappointment. Food was average at best and our waitress was less than attentive. My sons Wiener schnitzel was dried out and the gravy didn’t taste good. My Reuben was small and served without dressing. My husbands dinner was more puff pasty than filling. We had to ask for our side salads which were not served with our meals. Overall we left annoyed and hungry.
Really good food. Table was ready when our reservation was due. Two thumbs up!
Really good food & atmosphere and we love the beer selection!
Great food and service. I like the take on German food, there’s something for everyone. Now that my parents have moved out to Harmony we’ll be stopping in a lot more frequently!
Incredible. No other words could describe. Beautiful place. Delicious, authentic German food, great service. We ordered apps, meals, drinks, and dessert. Everything exceeded our expectations. Can’t wait to go back.
First of all, we ate from the dinner menu so we can't comment on the rest of their menu ( sandwiches etc). The staff was friendly and attentive. We were not satisfied with the food. We have eaten at a number of German restaurants in the Pittsburgh area but found the quality of their German entrees not up to the standard we are used to. Also, the food came out way to fast - we were just getting started on our appetizers when our soup came out and just finishing our soup ( with both the app and soup dishes still on the table) when they brought the main course - very, very rushed. We eat out a lot and the cost of the food did not match the quality.
Everyone was outstanding! Cool place. Excited to come in nice weather & sit outside.
We went to The Harmony Inn with two other couples on Saturday evening. I'm glad we secured a reservation through OpenTable because it was very busy. The reason it's so busy is because the food is great. Unfortunately when the food is great at a restaurant lots of people want to eat there which makes it rather crowded and loud. It's totally worth it though. We'll be back.
Food was very good, but our waitress rushed us to order. She was all about moving us through the meal and had no time to talk to us. Her demeanor detracted from the experience.
Our server was Amy. Very delightful and attentive. We could not ask for anything better from a server. My knock is two items. One, the parking lot is a muddy mess with potholes. Simple gravel would fix this. I parked a block away to avoid walking in the mud. The other item is that there were three young girls at the front door area. The three of them stared at the seating chart over and over. Even after checking in a bit early two of them separately asked me if I had a reservation and what my name was. Then, back to the magic computer screen. But, the food was good and Amy was great. Remember, first impressions are so important.
What a great find in little Harmony, Pa.! Good, authentic spaetzel, weinerschnizel, sandwiches, sausages, the pretzel appetizer is very good. It’s comfort food, fresh ingredients, well presented, with a good beer menu (i am not a beer drinker) and a so so wine list, but good cocktails, and a friendly bar atmosphere. We ate upstairs, so quieter, but downstairs dining room is not noisy. Love the architecture of this old home! The stairs, floors furniture, doorways, windows, fireplaces, so cool. Service was very good. This is a casual place with a local vibe, great food and drink, no pretense and friendly people. I was there in chilly weather, so sat inside both times, ( it was beautiful on a snowy night) but there is an outdoor eating area which i am sure is great in the warm weather, want to try that out. Will definitely return.
