The Harbourview Grille transports guests back to the early days of The Royal, when Campbeltown was known as “the whisky capital of the world” featuring no less than 34 working distilleries along with a thriving fishing industry that had Campbeltown Harbour and The Royal Hotel bustling with businessmen, vacationers and locals alike. Great resturant, really good food. Prawn Coaktail was lovely and the Fillet Steak was cooked to perfection. Great friendly service and Rachel on reception was very helpful. Only slight disappointment for me was the Panna Cotta. And somebody really really needs to do something about the play list. Backstreet - Backstreets back and Another Level - Freak Me on a loop mixed in with a compliation of the worst of the 80's and 90's?? No. Just No. That playlist is completely inconsistent with the entire hotel and resturant. Apart from that we really enjoyed it and will be back!

Lovely Service by Rhona & Sarah and Fiona, Food was Lovely and Tasty. Nice Atmosphere and was Lovely decorated with nice Xmas Decorations.

It was a straightforward menu, but all the cooking was perfect. Crisp chips, a big tasty field mushroom, and best of all a delicious fillet steak, cooked exactly as I like it, for once: very rare/blue. Friendly helpful waitresses.

My daughter's (9) spaghetti Bolognese was very late, apparently the chef only made her just spaghetti! When it came it was HUGE and very spicy and way too much garlic, she couldn't eat it :( main meals were okay but puddings took 25 minutes to arrive. We were 1 out of 2 tables! Panacotta which should be wobbling and light was solid and heavy and far too much cream around it. Kids had meringue icecream sundaes, there was far too much cream again and too sickly.

Our visit to the Harbourside Grille renewed our faith in Scottish hospitality after a couple of bad experiences during our weekend away. Enjoyed a couple of drinks in the hotel bar before moving to the restaurant. Received a very warm welcome from the host, Pat, who did a grand job of looking after everyone in the restaurant throughout the evening.

Found the menu comprehensive and would happily have chosen quite a few dishes. Having viewed the menu online before we arrived, I'd been looking forward to the Cullen Skink and I wasn't disappointed. Lovely big plate of fresh soup, packed with chunks of smoked haddock.

We couldn't resist the haggis nachos as an extra starter to share, which again didn't disappoint.

By far the best food and service we'd experienced throughout our weekend break to Kintyre.

Don't expect fine dining or an adventurous menu. Portions are generous, so may be worth considering this when ordering. We couldn't finish our main courses, simply because we had filled up with the delicious starters. For well cooked, homely food with good friendly service, you won't go wrong here.

Good, well cooked food made from local ingredients. The duo of smoked salmon and the mussels with spicy tomato sauce were both delicious.
