The Hamilton will showcase seasonal American cuisine, featuring takes on regional classics from around the country and the family dinner table.
The Hamilton Bar & Grill is a lovely space and the server was friendly, but the service was crazy slow even though the restaurant was half empty and we had reservations! It took 10 minutes after being seated to flag down someone to give us the cocktail menu and 22 minutes before just our drink order was taken. When the server returned with our drinks (a good 10+ minutes later), she insisted on only taking our appetizer order. One person with the grain salad the the two people with tomato soup enjoyed those dishes, but the French Dip, pot roast, and other dishes were described as very disappointing. Also, it was noisy enough (half full) that we couldn't hear the person directly across the table from us. Overall, very disappointing.
2 seater tables so deep we felt like we were miles apart. Most recent menu is less inventive than in the past and meals were just ok. Cocktails were not chilled enough.
Service was awful - waiter thought he was making a speech and did not acknowledge us at all - his main objective was trying to build a huge tab. We ordered our food at 5:35 and it arrived at the table at 6:30.
Happy that i invited another couple and my wife and they enjoyed the entrees they otdered
3rd experience at Hamilton... decent place but over priced considering the quality of product delivered. Will likely spend my $ elsewhere
The food was delicious, the wait staff AWESOME and very knowledgeable. It was my daughter's first Mother's Day and she was very excited.
I love the interior of this restaurant. The seating is comfortable and you are easily able to have conversations. The menu was limited but everything came out as ordered and very tasty. It was a nice evening out.
The last time I was at Hamilton was about two years ago. I seem to remember it being much better back then! Our server was nice but super awkward and not well trained. The dinner menu is odd - lots of sandwiches and lunch type items on the menu. My husband ordered the burger which seemed fine and came with good fries. My kids ordered lasagna which looked pretty good. I ordered Chicken Paprikash which arrived to the table cold and not very tasty. I guess it's more of a happy hour place and not the greatest for food.
Was super loud and the menu was very small. We have been there many times and always enjoyed the food. This time was disappointing with few appetizer choices and few main meal choices.
Very noisy atmosphere and could not here each other’s conversations without raising voices and leaning into to listen. Food was average but not to the quality that was expected for the price. Service was good but because of noise levels very hard to understand server. I would not recommend this restaurant mostly due to noise levels.
We had the worst service we have ever had. We were seated an hour and twenty minutes before our food arrived.
Every aspect of the dinner was excellent. Service was great, I felt like I was the only customer. The decor, the building lovely.
Not busy for a Saturday night..several light bulbs out throughout the restaurant..sat us at dark booth before we asked to be moved..the food and drinks were overpriced..the soup was good but the pot roast had too much sauce..disappointing because i want to see downtown allentown thrive.
The evening started out a bit off as our drinks were very slow to arrive. Then two of them were made incorrectly. That SNAFU took awhile to be fixed. They didn't bring bread until we asked for it . The food was good but we had some issues with it not being warm enough.
Our waitress seemed to have some difficulty paying attention to details.
Easter. Great atmosphere, food and service.
Easter dinner. Food was cold
been there 8-15 times over 2 years. It started slow but gained momemntum Really enjoyed the venue and the drinks. . Since it changed hands went down hill quickly. Menu sparse to say the least. Wasn't loud (Friday 7:00ish). Ten people max in the dinning room. Janele the waitress was the bright spot.Seemed to really enjoy working with people.
Note to new owners NEEDS WORK
So bummed with my dinner here. The bright spot: The service was good - friendly and pretty quick. I've had dinner here several times and after tonight won't be back. The popovers used to be fresh, warm and soft but tonight were crunchy and overdone. My husband ordered the NY strip, rare. It came out medium rare to medium and was incredibly bland. Just overcooked and under seasoned. I got the scallop dish, which was also under seasoned. The flavors were there, just needed something more. The cauliflower rice was dry and bland and honestly unrecognizable from any cauliflower rice I've had before. There were 4, maybe 5 medium sized scallops and 4 small slices of sweet potato. Paid $34 and left hungry. For that price with the size of the dish it should have been impeccable but it really fell flat.
Then there's the drink menu. I used to love the drink menu here, there was a decent variety of herbal-ly drinks, fruity drinks and then the bourbon drinks. There was a total of 6 drinks featured on the menu. A Manhattan, an old fashioned, an Autumn version of both of those, and 2 other Autumn drinks. It's April! The beer menu was also outdated.
I felt too bad to complain to the server, because he did his job well, but we paid over $100 for dinner and left disappointed. I'm sad this place changed ownership and hope the new owners get it together, but I won't go back to find out
The Hamilton wasn’t “The Hamilton” it used to be. Since merging with the other restaurant and having their management change it isn’t the same. They took some great stuff off the menu, and didn’t even have a menu listing their whiskeys.
menu has gone far down hill. It used to be a favorite, but I don't think that Ill be going back. Servers were friendly but not very knowledgable
Loved the fact you don't have 40 items to choose from. Excellent bread before dinner, ambiance, service and cuisine.
Chicken was dry, crab cakes have a weird flavor to them.
Great food, nice room, nice atmosphere. Lively, but we could still talk and hear each other without yelling.
I have dines at HK several times and have always enjoyed good food and service.
Over priced food for small quantify of high markup food
The Hamilton Kitchen recently changed ownership and we can’t help but think that affected our experience. The menu has been scaled down tremendously and some of the items left are very eclectic. The tropical entrees ranged from a New York strip to a chicken sandwich. Although our food tasted good, the experience didn’t leave us with anything as a WOW. We will give it another try again soon though!
Salad lacked enough dressing and the scallops lacked flavor, on the plus side the drinks were good.
Clearly in the midst of ownership changes. Food was not of the same caliber, evident by the replacement of the turnover with a “Red Lobster-Like” biscuit. Hoping this is temporary as they transition.
We really enjoyed our meal. Both the salmon and the pork chop entrees were nicely prepared and the presentation was very good.
Our server did a nice job overall though she did not provide the Specials of the Day. The lasagna was very yummy. The scallops very good, but way overpriced. Server said she would bring us bread, but she brought some type of egg-cheese popover, nothing like bread. She indicated they were out of several things, and said same to adjacent table, though different items, so maybe this was all because of the Ownership changeover, so maybe still working out issues.
The Hamilton Kitchen & Bar was quite full at lunch time. The waiter was very attentive and the food was good.
the service is awful the servers have an attitude the menu under the new ownership is inexcusable would never go there again
Service was excellent. Ambiance was lovely. Beautiful interior design with a relaxed environment. Appetizer (chili cheese fries) was amazing. Dinner was average. Pasta special was on the expensive side. Sold out of IPA beer on the menu.
Very disappointed always had great service food was just all right. Very limited menu. No sangria . Maybe because recently sold. Would not rush back.
Excellent food and service. Portions are large and well worth the price.
Gave it a 1 because u couldn’t give a zero. Had no beer, vodka, wine or half of the food in the menu. If you knew in advance that items were short/non-existent, why did you make us come all the way into Allentown for literally nothing. We walked out without eating and needless to say, drinking. Very poor customer consideration.
Good good and a friendly staff. The Sushi app was fantastic.
My husband and I had a nice time at The Hamilton. We had plans to see the symphony after dinner so we gave ourselves just under 2 hours to eat dinner and walk to the concert. Drinks took a long time to come from the bar. They were worth it in the end (the lavendar mule was particularly delicious!). Our appetizer of sriracha bourbon wings were amazing! The dish was flavorful and made my husband and I excited for our dinners. But then the wait for dinner was long. Really long. Almost 35-40 minutes long. About 30 minutes before the concert was due to start, we got our entrees of an andouille sausage, bell pepper, and caramelized onions flatbread pizza and smoked brisket tacos. The pizza was good, although the ratio between the toppings was slightly off in my opinion (not enough pepper and sausage). My husband had the tacos and they were extremely dry. If not for the pickled cabbage and the sauce, it would've been hard to eat.
Overall, I think The Hamilton is a good place to go if you have plenty of time to spend on dinner. I would not recommend it before any other committment or form of entertainment.
I’m angry that they didn’t check me as seated for open table.
They also did not have the menu ingredient because they were sold and did not order any supplies. The Manager was not accommodating.....Steer clear
Always enjoy the Hamilton Kitchen. It was very busy and our server was a bit overwhelmed, but otherwise pleasant and attentive. We ordered sandwiches and apps, where were great. Our 9 year old appreciated his taco request to have the toppings on the side so he could pick what he liked. Only negative was no chocolate milk, but actually that might not be a bad thing! Pricey, but we feel its worth it for good food and nice atmosphere.
