The Hamilton Kitchen & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Went there for anniversary dinner. The bar was busy with a small crowd and a single musician singing and playing guitar. There was a busy private party going on behind closed doors. A few other tables in different areas also had guests. We had the main dining room to ourselves and it was fantastic!
With all that going on, service and food quality was as if we were the only folks there. We had salmon and a ny strip, both were the best we had in a long time. The strip is now at the top of my list for local fare. Same with the salmon for my wife. I had ice cream with crumbled choc xhip cookies mixed in (memories of Hedgehog's Ginnie's Christmas Cookie ice cream!) And my life partner had the chocolate tort. We were in a good place with amount of food and mix of flavors peaking right at desert.
Atmosphere was what we liked: kinda dark and romantic. Our waitress had everything perfectly timed and was great at checking on us even as she helped with the party in the other room. She even worked with the manager to perfect and polish the vacant table place settings. It appeared the entire staff was meticulous and happy. I love restaurants that work like a well oiled machine AND the folks have fun at the same time.
We enjoyed the atmosphere more than the food. Our food was good, but pricy for the quality/quantity. The duck confit popover was good, but not exquisite. It was over cooked. Menu selection is nice, but limited. I enjoyed our dinner, but my expectations were definitely higher.
This is my 5th or 6th time visiting Hamilton and I have always loved this place, but tonight was awful. Let’s start with the waitress, Gabrielle. No personality whatsoever. Hardly ever checked on us. She was lucky she got the tip she got because I would have left her nothing, but my husband wasn’t going to do that. My 2 favorite things at this restaurant are the drinks and the popovers. My drink the blueberry smash was not as good as the blackberry smash that I have had in the past. The popovers were cold. The meat flatbread was horrible. Got the wedge salad and was way too salty. The only thing that was good was the entree which was the fried chicken. Normally a manager comes and asks how was everything, but she skipped us otherwise I would have given her an ear full. We left and went to the Bayou in Bethlehem for dessert and got better service and food there. FYI the Bayou is even farther from where we leave, but service and food was worth the extra drive. Hamilton is off my list for awhile.
We ate our Thanksgiving meal at the Hamilton Kitchen. It was our first time there and our expectations were greatly exceeded. The food was incredible and our server was delightful and attentive. We will definitely be returning to check out the regular menu!
Very close tables in the bar area. Ordered a ribeye for $40 (most expensive on menu). It was small, dry, and lacked seasoning. Came with a very small side of veggies. My date and I laughed about how it came out on such a huge plate and the food covered a quarter of it. My friend's pasta was good, which is why I'm giving 3 stars.
Good food but this last visit on a Saturday evening before a show, the noise levels were simply ridiculous and the service was spotty. It felt like they were understaffed and we spent a considerable amount of time waiting for our server at various points through the mea.
I was surprised how poor the service was. Perhaps it was just our waitress but it took almost 30 minutes to get our drinks - they came out just before dinner - and we were told the bar was just slammed. Keep in mind there were 3 bartenders and MAYBE 30 people in the bar area with another 15-20 through the dining area. The food was blah all around and then it took our waitress over 20 minutes to bring our check back with my CC - plenty of time for my wife and daughters to use the facilities, return, put their jackets on, and proceed to ask when she would finally come back. We weren’t in a hurry (thankfully) but dinner without apps or dessert typically shouldn’t take an hour and a half.
We had brunch on a Saturday late morning. The restaurant was pretty busy. The staff was very friendly, quick & efficient. The food was very good and came out quickly. It is not cheap yet certainly not the most expensive place I’ve been either but the food is well worth it. I can’t wait to go back again!
Went here for Disney Character event for 4-year-old grandson and 40th birthday for daughter. The staff was extremely accommodating to everyone's needs - old and young. Recommendations by server were wonderful; and the rest of the staff was very accommodating to needs. Even though there were a lot of young children there, the staff was on top of it. Overall, it was a wonderful Saturday brunch experience.
We went to a late dinner (about 10:30pm) and there were very few people in the restaurant. The bar was fairly busy but the music was really loud - too loud to carry on a conversation within the dining area. We had appetizers and a main entree. The appetizers were very tasty and the portions were quite large. My family ordered the burger and felt that they lacked flavor. I had a pasta dish and it was extremely heavy, literally swimming in butter. The service was decent, not exceptional. The timing of the meals was good. Overall, I think the appetizers could be smaller and more attention to smart flavoring.
While I left a comment in my reservation that we would like to be seated near the singer, we were seated all the way back in the corner of the view of the singer. On the bright side, the food is excellent; and the restaurant is very upscale. Amazing that this type of restaurant is in Allentown and at 7th and Hamilton Streets. The waitress was very nice. I would definitely go back to this restaurant. Erin Kelly, who sang there, has a great voice; and it was so nice to hear live music.
This was a great restaurant to visit. The food was awesome . I had a crispy skin salmon with leeks and mushroom which was tasty , my fiancé had grits with spicy shrimp , that was delicious as well. We both had a glass of rosé which was delicious and acceptably priced. I think the most exciting part of my visit was the unexpected CPR I was able to use on a guest that was in the restaurant bathroom on the floor. Apparently, passed out from some type of issue. But, the staff was supportive and I had the opportunity to spring into action .
Our first visit to The Hamilton Kitchen and Bar certainly will not be our last. We were a little early for our reservation and were seated very quickly at a corner booth/table which was perfect for carrying in a conversation. The charcuterie and cheese selections were wonderful and the Carrot were delicious. We had a very enjoyable evening.
This was our first visit to The Hamilton. All staff and service were friendly and welcoming. We decided to enjoy cocktails at the large bar before being seated at our table. Cocktails were good but be sure to request your brand of choice. We moved into the dining room and enjoyed a large table in the center. The booths looked quite cozy which may have been nice. Service was paced well. Our dinners were delicious. My wife had the gnocchi and I had the scallops. Wish there had been one more scallop on the entrée. We concluded with a very tasty apple tart. Definitely will be back again, maybe for some casual fare next time.
All-around great meal and great atmosphere. Very impressive whiskey and bourbon selection that our group didn’t know about, but was pleasantly surprised. Nice wine list and an creative dinner menu with something for everyone. Spread out in Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Scranton, our group tries to go to dinner somewhere in the Allentown/ Bethlehem area every few months to catch up and The Hamilton has moved to the top of our lists!
Had date night with my husband. We both ordered steak and fries. After a couple bites of the steak it just kept getting saltier! Our waitress noticed we only took a couple bites of our steak and asked if anything was wrong. I told her the steak was extremely salty and we just couldn't eat it. She apologized and said we wouldn't be charged for our meals since we only took a couple bites. Then the manager came over and spoke to us and apologized to us and offered us dessert on her which we ordered and was great! The check comes and we were charged for our meals which we never ate! I will not be back and I would never recommend this place to anyone!
Our frst time -before PPL concert. Although packed inside & out, numerous staff assisted tables which were bustling with laughter & conversation.
We were seated promptly & served drinks with rolls. Our waitress, Leah, was exceptionally friendly, organized, & attentive. She explained the rolls were made with duck fat. We applaud an attempt for something different although we weren't fans of them.
My husband loved entire meal of caesar salad, papperdelle w/ bolognaise. .. ordered garlic bread for dipping. There were ample portions of all with plenty to take home.
I had dark fried chicken (which appeared overcooked & greasy), kohlrabi slaw with an odd flavor I couldn't quite place & yet another bisquit. My dinner did not impress me.
THK did a fine job of getting our dinners completed, giving us plenty of time to get to the concert. We plan on coming back to Allentown's modern, beautiful restaurant in the near future to give some other menu items a try.
