First time here. Came in with a. Friend for brunch and it was fantastic. Will consider going back for dinner. Great staff
Overall, very nice atmosphere with an acceptable noise level
Had a steak sandwich which was okay - main issue was the bread was burnt so it had a overly charred flavor; fries were very good
Service was poor; waiter didn’t write down orders and as a result there were a number of errors (e.g., asked for a side of chipotle aioli twice and it never came), while also not being attentive
With that said another server would occasionally checkin and did a great job (he ended up giving us the check and also boxing food)
Delicious mimosa's and brunch! Cute spot with great service.
Delicious food, cozy ambiance and reasonably priced! Only complaint is the service- overall very slow. We came late in the night so were one of three tables. Still experienced extremely slow service. Slow to get our food, slow to get our drinks. We also ordered a Manhattan and got straight bourbon on the rocks. Despite the service still a great date night spot. We will be back.
This is one of our favorite spots in JC. Chicken was over cooked / burnt this time though. Hope it was a 1 night thing only!
Excellent experience with a large group. The organic salmon and tuna tar tar were exceptional.
The food was outstanding. The only concern was that our table was near the door and it was cold every time it was opened.
Hostess was terrific. I thought I updated the number of people in our party, but I had not clicked through to do so. Even though they were super busy she worked with us.
Also my food had way too much dry mustard (corned beef Benedict) and she took care of that right away as well. Great service from the hostess.
The brunch was fantastic and service is impeccable.
We ordered chicken fingers for kids, the chicken meat was soft but the crust was so hard and dry, my little one had a hard time to eat it and she ended up only eating a little bit. The fries were all soaked in oil and brownish. How hard is it to do good fries? The cornbeef (tasteless) in the sandwich as well as the parmesan chicken weren't good at all. My visiting in-law who is an excellent cook didn't like the food even a little bit. The only item we had that was good was goat cheese salad with steak. Everything else was not tasty at all. We will not visit Hamilton Inn again.
Service was exceptional. Very nice server. Food was not memorable and wine tasted stale..
Food was good. Not hot when arrived to the table but room temperature warm so we didn’t fuss about it. Nice place, tight fits. Staff was friendly. Accommodated us when there was a request in the notes of my reservation when they didn’t have to.
The place is very tight but has a nice ambiance. Food is very lackluster, especially for the prices. New York City prices without the New York City value.
Food was blah. The egg pizza appetizer was very bad. The crust was the best part. Gave lots of acid later in the day. The smell was odd also. Not sure if it was the bits of pork we removed or the type of cheese used - it was just all around bad. The waitress also said this was their best appetizer. Yikes.
Before ordering the egg pizza we ordered calamari only to be told it wasn’t available. Very disappointing.
I had the Inn Burger. Tasted like a regular, plain diner burger. Meat was very thin like the frozen patties you buy at the supermarket. I ordered it medium well, they gave it to me medium well. French fries were very good though.
The peach and mango bellinis are very tasty. We loved those. Much better than their mimosas. They were very weak though. We each had three. I barely felt anything.
My friend had the juevos rancheros. She didn’t say much so that means she wasn’t enthralled. She didn’t like that they gave soft tortillas versus the traditional hard shells.
We both agreed later that we wouldn’t be returning. Too many other places in JC that are much better.
At least we crossed this off our list.
Enjoyed brunch with my girlfriend!
Great food. Tad overpriced.
Went for early dinner on Valentine's day! Had such an amazing time with my boyfriend. It wasn't that busy at the time. The quality of the food was excellent. Will be coming back for brunch!
Food was very fresh and in large servings. Best calamari we've ever had. Waitress could not have been better.
If it's Sunday, you'll find us here--It's our favorite spot in JC. We actually drive here from Hackensack. The staff is tops...always friendly and accommodating. Even on our first visit a few years back, we were treated like friends. The food is delish...especially the avocado toast with pickled red onion. Draft beer list always has a few local brews. Music nice mix of Otis, Stevie, Aretha...wish I was back there right now :-)
Since it’s an old building building is drafty and cold.
Brunch at the Hamilton Inn this morning was a lovely experience. The Bloody Mary was tasty but I doubt there was much vodka in it. On an empty stomach, no effect at all. The coffee was very good, plentiful and hot. My avocado toast was good (eggs nice and runny, plenty of avocado) but the eggs would’ve been better even hotter. Nice salad with it. Would’ve loved a choice of a wheat or multigrain English muffin. Everyone else’s food seemed to be great. The chilequiles got a rave review from my friend. One negative- it was pretty cold sitting by the window. At one point the music was too loud but upon request it was immediately lowered so we could converse with our friends more easily. We were not rushed in the slightest, something we all appreciated. Overall a very nice experience. Will return.
Fantastic food. Great service. Amazing value. Will return.
We enjoyed the ambiance and the aesthetic of the restaurant. All the food was had was OK (except, pork buns were great!). We plan to come back again but order different things. The cocktail menu on OT was not what they were serving in the restaurant, so we were unable to get some of the things we had planned on.
Always a great brunch at the Hamilton
My friend and I usually love coming here for brunch. The waiter was very accommodating and friendly. The food is delicious and they have drink specials which makes it better.
For a New Years Day dining experience everything was subpar.
Ordered an aperol spritz and the waiter thought I wanted a non alcoholic beverage ... ordered the house salad and asked for fresh pepper and they never brought it. Ordered the filet Benedict and the eggs were hard boiled. Overall a bad experience especially for a holiday dining dinner. The manager was aware of all of these issues and didn’t have the decency to come and apologize. Won’t be back
food here is amazing but the service was ok. Our waiter was fantastic but it was crowded and the kitchen was backed up. It took us 2.5 hours to leave here. We had a reservation but still waited 20 minutes to be seated. We also witnessed the manager giving a couple some special treatment. Their appetizers and entree came out 10 mins apart. We ordered the same appetizer and waited another 30 mins for our entrees. The place is tiny and popular. Do not expect to come on the weekends for Brunch without a reservation. Its 45 mins to an hour wait, otherwise. If you make a reservation don't expect it to be honored. If you come here on a busy weekend expect it to take most of your early afternoon.
I went for a New Years dinner with my sister.
Of course there was a prix fixe menu for the holiday. My sister and I ordered the exact same things.
Appetizers: Crab cakes
A bit too fishy for me, but my sister loved them.
Entree: We each had the filet mignon, medium well which came along with mashed potatoes and spinach. I substituted the mashed for fries. This made me happy as my previous experience with prix fixe holiday menus do not allow substitutions (but I took a chance since there were fries as a side for another entree option).
When it finally came out both my sister and I had completely different steaks. Hers was more well done while mine was almost raw in the center. Complete inconsistency in the kitchen and shows they do not check the temperature of their steaks prior to serving them.
It was also supposed to be an 8 oz. steak, but that couldn’t be anymore than 5 oz. An 8 oz steak is pretty normal, but this wasn’t even as big as my palm and I’m a petite 5’1”. Luckily, I ate earlier in the day so I wasn’t starving.
It was well seasoned, but the fact that it was undercooked took away from the experience. Our server also took his time getting to us so I didn’t bother waiting to send it back just so it can come back charred. I didn’t want a well done steak like my sister’s.
My French fries were nothing to write home about. They were actually a bit soft, some soggy due to the spinach.
Dessert: Flourless chocolate cake with ice cream
I LOVE cake. I have only had good flourless cake once in my life so I was curious.
They served it in a small bowl atop a flat plate. Again with the inconsistencies, I had a big scoop of ice cream and some whipped cream which covered the entire top. My sister had little barely covering the top. It was basically a muffin top above a bunch of hot chocolate syrup. We barely ate it. It wasn’t even tasty.
Also, horrible wine selections. Everything was mediocre. Not with the $200 tab.
My wife and I went there for New Year's Eve and they didn't seem prepared for the crowd. There was a fairly expensive prefix menu but we were okay with that since it was New Years. Our food took a very long time to come out and was cold when it arrived, and they ran out of the dessert we ordered, which we were surprised by since we ordered it two hours in advance. Our server was apologetic about everything though and overall it was still a pretty good meal. We'll probably give them a second chance on a calmer night.
Great, great service. Brooklyn vibe. Food is solid. Ambience and service were notably great.
It was very underwhelming since we had been excited to try this place for brunch for awhile. Everything was just mediocre, service and food wise.
Good, a bit pricey for what you get.
Nothing special here honestly. Oysters were the best part of brunch. French toast was a total over sugared fat fest and the fried fish sandwhich was extra deep fried (read: dry af). The cocktails were nothing amazing. Cute neighborhood joint thats good for a quick bite and sip but not for hungry foodies
Was very disappointed in the service. Our party ordered a veggie burger, but the order had to be sent back twice because it was wrong. Then to top it all off, the server actually served a real beef burger to a person that doesn't eat meat. The venue was not busy at the time and there was just really no excuse for the careless mistakes.
Good to better for the neighborhood, not worth much of a trip, at least for food or service
Table not ready when we got there
Great food and a wonderful atmosphere. Wait staff was exceptional and personable. Was uncertain about parking, which made it a challenge. Arrived after 6PM and parked and took a chance parking on the street. Would suggest that the owners clarify parking possibilities and make it easier on patrons. Great place!
Been here countless times and the food is amazing, quality is consistent and the service is always excellent! Must haves are the French onion soup, the truffled egg pizza and the French dip sandwich!! But everything on the menu is equally delicious!
Food was tasty, drinks were good. Could have benefitted from a few more visits by the wait staff as I would have had a couple more drinks. Biggest issue for me was the eggs on the eggs Benedict were not poached correctly so my yolks were cooked through which kind of defeats the purpose of an eggs Benedict. Still tasted good so didn’t complain. Will be visiting again.
We enjoyed our meal but were disappointed that we still waited 1/2 an hour to be seated with a reservation 4 days in advance. Several other parties were seated while we waited. Not sure what this issue was but it made things awkward with our out of town guests.
