   My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at the Halyard for our second occasion there. We both had the mixed greens salad, and the broiled fluke, and it was delicious. The views from the restaurant are beautiful. The staff was very accommodating. I recommend it.

   I wanted a simple bite and a drink with a friend. I had to change the time of my RSVP. It took 3 phone calls and one text exchange to get it done. Although it was a beautiful day, they wouldn't sit anyone outside because it had rained earlier. When we didn't order a full dinner (we had appetizers), they were clearly disappointed and started taking our silverware away before the check arrived. This used to be a nice place--now it's only for the Hamptons crowd: overpriced and shockingly snooty. What a disappointment.

   When we arrived at The Halyard, I was so glad to see they had complimentary valet parking, considering their parking lot is across a busy road from the restaurant and crossing the roadway can be quite dangerous! When we checked in, the hostess led us to a wonderful table on the outside dock with a fabulous view of the water. Considering that there were plenty of other diners in the inside room ( where the acoustics were poor) I was amazed to be given the choice of this fine table. I didn’t even request it on Open Table, so was very pleasantly surprised! Now on to the food which was spectacular. One person in our party of four, said that the New England Clam Chowder was the absolute best chowder he’s ever eaten! I can say the same about my sea scallops and the delicious asparagus purée it came with. All in all, The Halyard was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a very long time. I’m definitely headed back!

   The overall experience was very negative. The staff was not able to accommodate our request to eat outside despite explicit note on the reservation that this was a special celebration dinner. They made what was a frustrating situation worse by being uncommunicative and unaccommodating of alternatives. When we were seated about an hour late, the service was slow and the food was unremarkable at best, and abysmal in other cases (greens that were so salty that they were inedible).

   Food was okay. Server was very good. They play music which is too loud creating a situation in which everyone was shouting to have a conversation with their dinner mates. We often encounter this problem, with or without the music, when young people are out for dinner who think the entire world needs to know what they think. There were young adults who were loud but the restaurant exacerbated that with the unnecessary music. In addition there was a family with two children who were running all over the restaurant as if playing tag. This happened 10-15 times. While they sometimes came to get the children, a boy about 4 continued the whole meal. The manager was aware but did nothing to discuss the inappropriate behavior with the family. Obviously the adults in the family lacked any parenting skills but management did nothing to address the situation. Would not ever go back!

   Service was impeccable. View from the deck was lovely. Lemon drop martinis were sub optimal, and waiter was most accommodating, bringing us new ones. My wife had a burger and I had New England clam chowder— both fine. Unfortunately, possibly the worst lobster roll I’ve ever eaten. Lobster was the consistency of tuna fish. Watery (was it frozen?) with very little lobster taste. Because of its watery, tasteless condition, predominant taste was tarragon. Of course, a tarragon roll shouldn’t cost $46.    The food and service were outstanding. Definitely try the swordfish and the black truffle tartine was incredible. Also absolutely beautiful view of the sunset!

    This was supposed to be a Father's Day Pig Roast. It was terrible. All the food was stone cold. And for a can of wine and a can of ginger ale I had to pay $29. Never again. The pig had been roasted days ago and was dry and tasteless.

    This is a pretty place with a beautiful water view but I don’t like that there are some outdoor tables which are difficult to secure and all the rest are inside in air conditioning. On a gorgeous, dry summer evening, I wish the windows opened and we could feel the waterfront location rather than wear a sweater in an air conditioned room, just looking at the water. The servers were lovely and tried hard but the food and drinks were just okay. As a weekend Northforker, I felt this is a spot for tourists passing through and does not have a feel of a chef-driven place with a point of view. My third time here (I keep trying to like it) and probably my last, sadly.

    I always am hoping for the room to the east- prefer the lighter feel there, but the view was spectacular, service great, and food very good. Wished there were a few other options for main courses. Last time I went there was one pasta choice. Prices for main courses quite high- A few add'l choices in $20s and $30s price range would have been nice. But great food and ambience. Extraordinary view!

    Beautiful Location on the deck on a perfect summer day. Service was prompt & attentive. Lunch menu offered enough choices, especially appetizers & small plates. Main course lunch salad w tuna confit was not interesting and meager- not worth it. Dinner menu looked better, but sadly not available.

    Our sunset dinner on Sunday night was excellent in all respects except the portion of lobster in the lobster roll main was insufficient for my wife. We will definitely be back.

    Food was very good! Prices kinda high, but what isn’t? The host was a little slow . No one at the desk when we arrived. Someone cleaned the table behind us with a spray bottle. The odor was SO Strong, it really was off putting when eating. The restaurant really needs to do something about it. Overall, would recommend the place. Could easily be 5 star if they addressed a few things.

    My wife's lobster roll was fine, our french fries were soggy from oil and my batter dipped fish was horrible. The ambience and location of the restaurant are fantastic.

    The restaurant was limited on available options due to a wedding that had happened the day prior. We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and had planned to have a nice dinner on our last night. The restaurant turned the lobby into a makeshift dinning room because they had an event the next day that they already set the dining room for which created a not great dining experience as we sat in the main entrance where everyone walked through. When you’re paying a premium for food the experience should match.

    I think this restaurant gets high ratings for the view and how chic the interior is, but the food is nothing special /doesn’t match the menu descriptions and both glasses of wines we got were so bad (which was extra unfortunate since we’re in an area known for wine). We also happened to be seated next to a loud family with screaming children running all over the place and throwing toys at the staff, which is not the restaurant’s fault but completely took away from the experience.

    After planning a brunch for Mother’s Day, I was failed to be informed that I would be paying 65 dollars PER PERSON for average breakfast foods (eggs,pancakes, croissants) . This was the biggest rip off of my life. After I told the waitress we did not sign up for the brunch and that we would like to see a menu is when I was told there is only a brunch offered today and I wasn’t going to embarrass my family and leave. Not only was it’s 65 per person, and they have the audacity to include a automatic 20% tip when your serving yourself at the buffet. The only thing the waitress did was bring out our drinks. Coffee was also NOT included in the 65 dollar per person fee you actually had to pay for it additionally. This was the most disappointing and rip off of a meal I’ve ever eaten in my life. The price would have been justified if I was eating a 5 course meal steak dinner, but it was breakfast. Very disappointed and if I knew I would’ve been paying this amount of money I would’ve went to a steakhouse. Don’t waste your money at this place.

    We live on the North Fork and have enjoyed Chef Stephan Bogardus cuisine several times. Both at the North Fork Table and at the Halyard. This Mother's Day brunch was not one of them. Started with a Bloody Mary each - tasteless. A good Bloody Mary takes work. A tasteless one does too. Just horrible. Food: Bread - ok. Poached egg/salad - ok. Shrimp - ok. Precooked chaffing dish of tepid scrambled eggs - not good. Precooked and cold sausages (more kielbasa than breakfast) were just that- precooked and cold. Lobster/cheese risotto was more a soup than a risotto. The carving table beef was ok, the horseradish sauce would have been better coming from Arbys. Desserts were paltry. All in all a pretty terrible brunch - at any price. That said, our waiter was cheerful and helpful. Definitely a one and done for Mother's Day brunches at the Halyard. Still the best sunset on the NF -

    The server was very pushy with dessert. Instead of offering the dessert menu in her opening, our initial response was no thank you. To which the server replied “at least take a look at it.” It may have not been meant to be pushy. Unfortunately, that is exactly how it came across. It’s a great place and worth another try.

    Such a wonderful experience dining at the Halyard! Our waitress was so attentive and kind, and the manager brought us champagne on the house for our engagement. So thoughtful. The food was outstanding- you must try the grilled octopus and lobster cavatelli. Couldn’t have tasted better! Thank you.

    Very disappointing. Have been several times before and enjoyed. Prices are up - welcome to summer. They ask $6 for bread and butter. No joke. Food quality has declined: two at the table had an asparagus salad to star ($19), and fluke with bearnaise ($37) for the main. The asparagus salad was tiny. Two spears of asparagus for $19. The fluke had clearly sat under a heat lamp for a while. The bearnaise had a hard crust on top. Didn’t bother with dessert. It’s a great spot (though the decor has always been cold) and that may for some make up for the mid-quality food.
