    Our booking was for 8pm and we waited half an hour on the street before our table was ready. Once seated we waited a further 40minutes before our order was taken. We weren't even offered drinks during that time. The food was good but very overpriced and not generous in portion size we got one small bowl of potatoes between six of us. The staff were friendly but overworked and not enough of them. I have very fond memories of the Half Door but I will not be returning after my recent experience which was also marred by a disagreement between staff when we went to pay about adding a portion of chips to the bill.

    We got the early bird menu which was great value, the evening menu is quite pricey. The food was amazing, presentation flavours and service top notch.

    Duck was scrumptious! The mini bread was warm and fresh! The shrimp appetizer was rich and flavorful. The servers and chefs are friendly and knowledgeable. The chefs made the best duck I’ve ever eaten!

    We had booked a table for 8pm and we were seated promptly, however after that things went seriously downhill. By 8.25 no one had come near us to even offer us as much as a glass of water. After twenty five minutes of being ignored we decided to leave. The waiting staff seemed young and inexperienced with no one directing matters. We have been to this restaurant many times before and enjoyed it. This was a most disappointing experience .

    Superb food but the portion sizes were very small considering the prices being charged. The steak was very thin, the helping of hake was very small and the risotto serving was more the size of an appetiser. The vegetable servings were minuscule. All in all, it was a real pity considering the exceptional quality of the cooking and the food.
