Great service amazing food (: My boyfriend and I will be back for more!
Attended for a birthday dinner. Upon being seated our server brought over complimentary champagne. From appetizers to dessert - the food was outstanding! The cocktails and cappuccinos also excellent. Will definitely return and recommend!!
Always love visiting The Guild- favourite restaurant in the city!
Booking thru OpenTable was very easy. We were running late because we were looking for parking as we not familiar with Calgary streets and some of them are 1-way only, was trying to call the restaurant but not answering so I was worried that they will cancel our reservation. Luckily, the receptionist was nice and accomodating. I guess because it was not so busy at that time, still lots of table available but if it's full maybe we won't be able to dine if we were half an hour late. The service was great, they greeted us when we arrived, welcoming and pleasant greeting, our server was outstanding and friendly. The food was good, tasty and presented well. They welcomed by pet, gave him a bowl of water. They're pet-friendly resto, it would be nice if they also give a small treat for the pet ;). I was just expecting the vibe usually on Stephen Walk Avenue was lively, but not at this time of pandemic, it was so different. But overall, our dining experience was great!
Food was amazing! The kitchen accommodated my hate of tomatoes nicely. Service was very friendly!
Party of three that met to celebrate a colleague's passing of an exam. Sat on the patio. Food was amazing, drinks were well priced and overall have nothing negative to say. I have eaten at The Guild a few times (both inside/outside) and each time has been perfect.
Exceptional helpful people, super friendly and very accommodating. Excellent evening thank you :)
The food was amazing. We had the tomahawk for four people with a few extra sides and some appetizers. It was the perfect amount of food for us.
A great vibe on the patio on a Saturday afternoon. As always with the Guild, the service is thoughtful and attentive.
Eating out is an experience and the staff always ensure we have a great one.
Thanks we enjoyed ourselves
We were greeted at the entrance desk promptly and seated on the patio. The server quickly came over and we were served menus and water promptly. We split a beet salad, which was excellent. The tenderloin steaks were done to our liking. We ordered 3 sides; which we split. All were excellent, but a bit too much food. We will return.
My wife and I visited for a steak dinner on our honeymoon. We had reservations for 7pm but waited outside at the host desk for several minutes before finally being greeted and led to our table. The host, however neglected to tell us the menu is online and so we sat and chatted until the waiter came to take our orders only to learn we hadn’t seen the menu yet.
The waiter himself was unsure, didn’t know the menu well, And was otherwise not skilled at his job. We cut him some slack assuming he was new.
We each order the strip loin steak with mash. Steak and mash where amazing! We couldn’t express how perfect the steak was. Unfortunately there wasn’t much else on the plate besides a rather small roasted tomato. We each wanted something more such as mixed veg to round out the meal. For dessert we shared a carrot cake with a small portion of sour cream ice cream. The ice cream was good but the cake may as well have been from the grocery store. Hardly worth $9.
Overall amazing steak, good ambiance but too expensive for what you get and very poor service. Would not recommend.
Went there for the Summer Feast and the meal was great! Food was delicious and service was amazing. Would definitely come back again! The Pan-Seared Pickerel was my favorite of the night!!
Overall the experience was nice. Would not recommend the peach salad as all who tried it where not pleased. The salmon platter on the other hand was fairly adequate. The main courses were fine as well as the desert. Nothing earth shattering. Service was great, everyone was very polite and delightful. The experience was fine, we would simply not return due to the food.
Love the Guild! Amazing food, ambiance (patio rocks!) amd the service is fantastic!
We went for the summer feast three course menu. It was absolutely amazing!
Great location, very hip & trendy. Excellent food. Delightful servers.
The Guild service staff were outstanding, each and every one of them! The beer was cold, the wine took a bit of time to secure, but it was great in the end. Food was what you'd expect - ample, full of flavour, salty and just fine for an outdoor café.
We tried the summer feast menu, the appetizer was outstanding and pretty good dessert. I had the burger for main course which was tasty but not too special. We were seated outside, since we went for lunch, and maybe due to COVID the in door tables were not open. We had a group of 6 and were able to social distance with all the other tables.
Great food, awesome service and it's even better if you sit outside on a warm summer evening.
My family is visiting and my husband and I wanted to take them for a great meal. We’ve been here in the past and had great experiences and some amazing meals, so thought this would be a great place to treat them to dinner.
I understand with covid things are not quite as they used to be, but the whole experience from ambiance, to service and even the meal was not anywhere close to up to par with what we have come to expect from a steak house such as the guild.
The servers seemed sloppy and unprofessional. We ordered 2 appies and some drinks to start, the drinks took forever and were nothing special for the price. We ordered the steak tartare and it came out looking like cat food...we asked the server about the grey color of the meat and he said it was probably oxidation. When we stirred in the egg yolk the inside of the meat was grey as well...usually tartare is served fresh and a bright red color, I can understand the outside being exposed to air could change color a bit but this meat was grey throughout. The calamari was mediocre, something I would expect from a dive bar. We ordered a tomahawk med rear which we were informed would take 45 mins, so we ordered a salad to have while we waited...30 mins later-no salad, so we asked if it was coming...the waiter had misunderstood us and punched it in and we received it right after. We also added some bernaise sauce at this time to come out with our steaks. The tomahawk arrived without the bernaise so they said it would be right out, by the time it arrived the steaks were half eaten and going cold. The steak was not cooked well, charred black on the outside and very rare on the inside. No way it had been properly cooking for 45 mins.
We had to wave down a server every time we wanted to order a new drink even with multiple empty glasses on the table.
It was no where near the memorable meal we had wished to share with my family. Very disappointed in our experience and how downhill this place has gone.
Food was delicious. Social distancing was accomplished on the patio.
Food wasn’t very hot but was tasty. The service was slow, we didn’t see our waitress for long periods of time. On a safety note, the patio umbrellas fell over several times while we were there, luckily no one was hurt but standing them back up without securing them isn’t a fix. The bases are clearly not heavy enough to keep them upright when there is wind, so get some heavier bases before they seriously hurt someone!!
I had so much help and good advice from the waiter in regards of what to eat and drink. It was so helpful and everybody was so lovely about me having a pet on the patio and I will definitely be back with more friends. I highly recommend this place for pet owners who would like a classy dinner and also reasonably affordable.
Amazing! Great food and great service. Can’t go wrong!
Very nice ambiance on our outside patio table. Good service and the food was awesome as well. Everyone in our party was happy.
Super cool cocktail that came out on the smoked wood chips! That was a fun treat!
Tartare was great and the phyllo cheesecake was incredible. We also tried the alberta on a plate menu and we loved the caprese salad appetizer.
I know this is an extremely difficult environment to be viable.
However you should expand your happy hour drink and food menu.
Perhaps end and 7:00 and start again at 9:00-11:00?
We sat on the patio for the first time at The Guild. It was a gorgeous evening and we enjoyed a great catch up with friends. The service was very good and the food was delicious.
Great patio, food and staff.
Everything was delicious
Great food, happy hour sitting on the patio really makes it feel like summer !
Server was great, made a good wine recommendation as well. Half priced wine on Tuesdays is hard to beat. Food was very tasty and cooked just right. Fried Mac and cheese starter was very good, as well as the rest of our meal. Would recommend and will be returning
Amazing food and amazing service. I wished I had discovered this place sooner.
Very tasty food and great service. Loved the atmosphere
The food was outstanding!
Great spot for lunch on Stephen's Avenue and a good spot to watch the crowd.
We chose the guild for our first anniversary because it was a beautiful sunny day and it have a lively and beautiful patio. We booked 2 weeks in advance to be sure we could get a spot on the patio. The drinks during happy hour were amazing but we were surprised that the food wasn’t really to par with our expectations. We ordered pizza and pasta and they looked amazing but tasted fairly average. Our waitress was nice but seemed very rushed and never asked us how we were or made small talk with us. We did love the energy of the patio with the music and the street being closed to traffic.
All the steaks were extremely overcooked. Been here before and it was good. But they resent what was supposed to be medium rare filet mignon and rib eye out as well done. And they redid the same thing 4 times. I don’t know what chef was cooking but he should be looked at and potentially fired. Service was good though.
Great service, fun place to people watch on stephen Ave.
