Terrible. Chef could not cook medium rare prime rib. Then could not cook medium rare steak. Huge chunk of chicken fat/grissel in beet salad. Will not be back.
The Guild had a very nice atmosphere. It was more than just a casual restaurant, it definitely had a swanky feel to it. The service was very good, and the waitress we had was very attentive. The food was amazing as well. Started with the calamari which was outstanding and I had the tomato penne which was also very good. It was a $6 additional charge for chicken in the pasta which was a bit much to me, but overall it was a very delicious and a delightful experience. I would go back again.
Sub par service and average food!! Two different happy hour menus.
I had my Birthday party in the Guild.
We liked the service, ambiance and food.
The main food was very delicious, especially Newfoundland cod and slow cooked pork.
I recommend this place.
Easily some of the most delicious drink creations the city has to offer!
The food was very salty and just ok. The service was good but we were all disappointed with our meals
Outstanding burger and perfectly cooked fries. Fantastic caesar drink with bacon. Excellent service.
Great ambience, nice outdoor dining, and beautiful vibrant interior- a feast for the eyes. Service is very good!
'Salad' that came with the burger was literally a bowl of lettuce. Nice spot, would only get drinks next time if I went considering the price and average meal.
Terrible... We arrived and booked with the intentions of a birthday dinner...
Th waiter took 15 min to acknowledge us, and then took drink orders, no menus yet.... 20 mim later the drinks came, and we had to ask for menus 35 min no menus! Then when we asked for dinner menus, he brought us snack menus and said the kitchen just closed! We left... went to Saltlik.... Did I mention Guild was dead.... maybe 6 tables
very slow service , took for ever to get drinks and refills and were out of the type of beer and the bottle of wine we ordered. The calamari were so over breaded and the breading wasn't cooked through, so there was raw dough in the middle.
My beef sandwich was swimming in an aioli masking all the flavour from the beef, the bun burnt to a crisp on one side, and the side salad was literally a small bowl of lettuce...that's it. Not worth the price.
First time at the guild and was not disappointed! Everyone left full and happy!
Food was an A+. We ordered the 28oz porterhouse to split and it was absolutely perfect medium-rare, so tender and juicy. There are so creative and delicious cocktails on the bar menu and the dinner menu has a little something for everyone. The ambience is fun and rustic, with the whole restaurant smelling like a wood burning fireplace and rich leather. The restaurant is lively but not overly loud, allowing for good conversation without having to yell. I would absolutely recommend the Guild.
Lovely atmosphere, very chic and modern feel. Food was reasonably priced for what you got, and had a wide drink selection. Service was friendly and personable.
Food was amazing, although maybe a little overpriced. But it was delicious so I was willing to overlook that. All in all 10/10 would recommend and I will be going back!
Pork Belly was chewy and seemingly over cooked. Porterhouse steak was full of fat and was very chewy as well.
Disappointed with the portion sizes. I ordered the cod and it was maybe 1/3 (2x2 if that) a size of a typical filet & was not even thick. Their octopus salad had one tentacle and the rest was a pile of beans for $15+.
Great food and great service, only issue is washroom is down two or three levels.
Its just the long wait for the main menu, our server was was waiting for us to finish the appies before serving the main course. Normally once the appies were served after 15 mins, the main dish is ready to serve. She did not follow up or ask in time interval.
I like the Guild but we were all extremely dissappointed in the Hot Mess Cobb Salad. The lettuce pieces were huge, the pickles were terrible, the salad was lacking in taste and the shredded chicken wasn't good. We used to go there for that salad and loved it. Not sure why is has changed but we will not be ordering it again and will go elsewhere if we want a salad.
On another note, we had the Baked Mac and Cheese appie and it was delicious as always:)
I’ve eaten here many times and always pleased, but this time the hostess staff seating us were very rude seating us. My favorite items were removed from the lunch menu and only available on dinner menu (ie the brisket). My steak was under cooked and went back to the kitchen for further cooking. Waiter was too busy to give us any attention despite the restaurant being half full. Waiter did not comprehend gluten-free options. Something with management appears to have changed.
I've been to The Guild a few times over the past year and have had a good experience until last Saturday night. The Steak in the Steak and Frites was tough going for the both of us. Ate what we could... The service, which is usually pretty good, was underwhelming. Not really interested in serving us it seemed. Mentioned the service to the Maître d and got a shoulder shrug.
Won't be back for a while.
It's a shame that such a great location and a nice decor of this restaurant don't meet customers' expectations when it comes about food and served meals. The menue options are pretty good but many items were not available when we were there for a lunch. The food was OK but nothing special. Calgary needs to improve its dining standards as we seemed to settle for mediocre dishes at astronomic price level. We left a tip but felt quite reluctant doing so (which was an obvious sign we won't be coming back anytime soon).
We went on Fathers Day, no mention of any specials as stated in the email or the half price wine also stated in the email...on a side note there was a musty smell not sure if it was the plants or the cow head but for me it definitely affected my dining experience
We enjoyed the food, excellent taste and presentation. We did not enjoy the loud music which took away from the ambiance and entire dining experience . It was electronic club music. May not go back just because of this. More thought into the music choice especially if you want to attract preshow patrons.
My experience at the Guild was sensational, I went with my family to celebrate my graduate and their last day in canada. Everything was on point. Thank you so much Guild and staff members!
We had to order wine 3 different times as the list was not up to date and they did not have stock of what we kept ordering
We went for lunch, like the location and the patio on a sunny day. The service was fast and decent.
and ordered the sausage. The food came relatively fast, taste pretty good.
However, one of the sausage was a bit undercoocked. We were in the rush so didn’t even bother to bring it up. I just didn’t finish it then left
Fantastic cocktails and food, highly recommended for those with groups that like variety, perfect for families with differing tastes. Loved the brisket and the korean kimchi poutine and ribs were amazing too. Highly recommended to check out if in the area of Stephen Ave or Downtown YYC
Would not recommend this restaurant despite the comfortable patio and beautiful interior. Service is very poor. Our server Sydney was absent for most of dinner and “floated” around and was not attentive the entire evening. She didn’t seem busy with other tables. She lacked any enthusiasm. She looked like she didn’t want to serve us. She did the minimum- take our orders. She hesitated when we asked for cocktail recommendations. She failed to bring us steak knives, condiments or even refill our water. We waited for her attention but service was provided by another server and the bus boy. She did not thank us after dinner. The bus boy provided more service and was friendly.
Amazing patio to spend the evening. Great service and delicious food.
Very very good
Food was very good! Service was fantastic.
I do not recommend the Mai Tai, only downside of the evening.
Restaurant environment is great!
Food and service were amazing. Shared the Tomahawk meal and Crown Royal bread pudding among three.
Last time was excellent but this time I ordered the pork belly and it was the wrong choice.
The beet salad was nice. The prawns that accompanied it were stringy.
I’m so happy that we can meet up for lunch today and enjoy the dining experience
Was fanatic and service was great
Food took an hour to come and it was not even busy at all
This was our first visit to The Guild. Overall we had a very nice evening there. We found the service to be quite slow for what didn't appear to be a very busy night: the patio was busy but inside the restaurant where we were seated was not very busy. The food was excellent, although my husband's entree seemed a bit smaller than a normal entree size; our dessert (bread pudding) seemed to be bigger than his entree - the lamb steak, but all in all we enjoyed it and would recommend it to our friends.
