Ambience. Service. Food. Decor. Service.
All - impeccable. Would definitely come back!
My friend and I went to the guild for lunch and had an awesome experience! Our waitress was fun and energetic, and the food was AMAZING!
Food was great as always. Our server Jeremy was incredible. On point the entire lunch.
Great service as usual. Food specials were interesting and looked delicious but stuck with their burger for lunch which was great.
Came here for our anniversary date night and we will definitely be returning. The food was AMAZING, the service was GREAT and the restaurant was pretty unique!
Possibly the nicest restaurant space in Calgary, it's in what was once the ladies clothing section of The Bay store. Lots of nice period features and very relaxed atmosphere for a business lunch setting.
Good food, good service! We will definitely be back.
Guess it’s our 5th to eat at this restaurant- first time to tried their happy hour.
The food was so amazing.
Almost 2 hours to get food for 2 people, unacceptable for a downtown lunch restaurant
Burger is beautiful. However, the aaa roast beef rib eye was not good and they serve it cold !
Great location. The tables are spaced nicely. Food was good and prompt.
Service and food were very good. I just found the dinning a little smoky as they were grilling quite a bit in the open kitchen but I am definitely going back.
Best Burger ever
Great! Waited a month to get our anniversary in and they really made it feel great !
The Guild in the Hudson's Bay Building in downtown Calgary is one happening place on a Saturday night! The Carved Lamb Steak and Char Grilled Steak Frites were very good - and the service AMAZING! I swear we had five people looking out for us - and in a good way! Attentive but not annoying. Three of us shared the Crown Royal Whisky Bread Pudding with Saskatoon berries, custard ice cream, and whisky caramel which was HUGE - and to die for!
Greeting staff were polite & prompt.
Server was knowledgably , efficient.
Food was great!
Brunch was delicious. Our waiter was very nice and helpful when we asked questions about the menu. Loved the atmosphere! Definitely would go again!
Not impressed with the octopus salad, canned beans with some flavour, octopus was good but too small for the price. Seating area by the window too cold
Portions seemed to be skimpier than usual. Steak Salad had three smallish chunks of meat and a scattering of salad. Pizzas were sparsely covered with ingredients. Wine was 1/2 price so maybe that's why....
Good meal but the service was a bit slow. Very nice ambiance in the place
We went of a business meal on a Monday evening and the restaurant had only 2 other tables. Our waiter seemed not very knowledgable about the menu or the types of gin they carried. It took a long time for the food to come and it was just ok. I had the octopus and it had quite a smoky flavor which over powered the actual dish. I was quite excited to try this popular place out but I likely would only be back for their wine and cocktails.
We went to the Guild on a Sunday evening for a special occasion and unfortunately were disappointed on many levels. It all started with our waiter suggesting we should consider the most expensive menu itema and then after ordering our drinks it took at least 20 minutes to get them. It turns out our waiter was also the bartender and was obviously rushed off his feet and the hostess was also brought down to help. While the restaurant wasn't very busy the lack of service staff was apparent.
It took another 40-45 minutes to get our meals and while 2 meals were good, both beef meals were at best luke warm albeit the plates were quite warm so I have to speculate they had been left on the warming deck for quite some time before being delivered. When I advised the waiter the meal was not warm he responded quickly and indicated the manager would come and speak to me. While this did not happen we were comped for the two meals and our waiter came over several times to apologize.
Possibly we just hit a off day at the Quild and hopefully this is not reflective of a norm.
The food was good for an upper dining experience but not so much geared for a night out with a family especially a family with kids. As a vegetarian, I thought the options were limited but I was still pleased with the Caprese salad and Margherita pizza I ordered. The atmosphere had an elegant feel, however, the decor gave it more of that rustic, butcher vibe with raw meat hanging in the front area and the animal decor. The staff were kind and engaged with the customers so overall it was a good experience. I would recommend to friends who are not vegetarian if they were looking for a bit higher quality food and also looking to spend a bit more.
The lamb steak was delightful. Our group had an amazing time. Thank you!
We shared the 32oz steak, Waldorf salad and bread pudding. Everything was amazing and we will decently be back to try more menu items.
Overall experience was 7/10. I ordered the cod, it was kind of bland, and it was quite small so it wasn't very filling. However, I enjoyed the appies we ordered (Wood grilled squid & deep fried mac & cheese). It's a nice place, pretty chilled and the service was great. I'd recommend trying this place at least once.
Disappointed with food. Looked forward to visit but will not return
As always, really good food and a nice menu. Service was great, noise level is up there even for lunch. Will go back often.
I thought the atmosphere/vibe was expertly curated. The intent is to impart a 'secret society' vibe and I think they absolutely accomplished that, starting with the exterior of the restaurant, right down to the food choices.
That said, I've had similar dishes cooked better elsewhere. For the price, I expect dishes to be 5 out of 5 and I'd say the meals we enjoyed were more along 3.5-4 out of 5. We had the maple glazed brisket and dry aged chuck burger. The carrot cake we had for dessert was honestly better than the entrees.
I would still eat here again but with the understanding that I'm paying more for the atmosphere than the food.
Food was amazing, service bit slow, seemed to be short on servers.
Lunch was booked for 12pm, had anticipated 90min should be more than enough time, ended up taking 2 hours.
Server had asked if I wanted a drink while I waited for the rest of the party, I asked to give me a minute, then she’s no where to be seen for the next 10 (until the rest of the part arrived), at which point she asked if I wanted a drink again or wait...
Table beside us whom had arrived later & ordered 10min before us paid their bill before we even received our food.
Loved the food we had the BC salmon and the brisket.
It was do relaxing on the unique patio area. Very pretty with the arches and lights. Second time we have been there this month !
Very good service and great suggestions
Have also been for happy hour after work and that was equally enjoyable
Would highly recommend the Guild.
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening, when there was an issue, Mark Deniro fixed it
Interesting flavour combinations for foodies. Overpriced for food volume.
We had the summer feast for dinner. Out food was very good. The waitstaff all friendly and helpful.
I will be back and be telling friends.
To celebrate my birthday we choose The Guild for lunch, as our plans to visit the mountains for the day fell through due to the poor air quality. This was our first time and we loved it and will defenetly be back. We chose our eats from the Summer Feast menu and all was very tasty with a clean/fresh taste.
Service was great: friendly fun professional attentive, and to think that our waitress had just finished her training! She’s a good addition to the team that’s for sure.
See you soon!
We have been to this restaurant on a number of occasions, however this time was completely disappointing. ALL of the meals were outright awful (except the squid appetizer, which was 'ok'). Burnt pizza and octopus (not charred, burnt). Spaghetti/ meatballs- the tomato sauce tasted like tomato paste and little else. It was the same as the sauce on the clams - completely over powered with an unappealing flavour.
Really good food as usual, choices are good. Easy to get in on Open Table.
We treated ourselves to dinner on Aug 12th for our 12th Wedding Anniversary . We were surprised with a bottle of Champagne and treated with top notch service the entire meal. Our server Kerling was delightful as was the manager on duty that night.
Our cocktails were delicious and the steak was beyond perfect ! We will be back again.
server rolled her eyes and had a cold, and forgot to bring 1 tiem we had ordered
