We only take a small number of reservations so that most of the restaurant is open for guests to walk in and be seated without a wait. If you find no reservations available please don't be discouraged we will likely have a table ready for you when you walk in the door. From the get-go, our goal has been to provide a casual place where Austinites and visitors could enjoy great wine and food. We hope our customers appreciate and enjoy what we do. It truly is a labor of love. A number of people, both current and former employees, have helped make The Grove what it is today. A restaurant can never rest on its laurels, especially in a place like Austin that has so many great dining options. We’re always trying to stay on top of our game and make things even better, and we never lose sight of the initial idea that wine and food are for everyone to enjoy. Cheers - Beth, Matt and Reed

We had a group together who all live in another city but were all here at the same time. We celebrated that two of them got recognition in their careers. It was nice to have a booth that fit us nicely. Everyone liked their food.

Mussels excellent. Bruschetta very good. Wine on expensive side. Pineapple upside down cake not so hot - preparation/presentation.

From the moment I walked through the door, I didn't receive a friendly vibe. No one was rude, but definitely not personable. That goes for the hostess, and our server. Our server took our drink orders, brought our drinks and immediately took our food orders and then we didn't see her again until the end of our meal. Every item we ordered came out room temperature instead of hot, like I would expect from chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy... when our server finally came back to take our plates she never asked how our food was or if we would like to order more food or another drink. She just came back with the check. I had very high expectations going into the grove being it was my first time and I was recommended by the owner. The food tasted wonderful even though it wasn't at the right temperature, and that's something I can get passed. But the service I receive makes all the difference. I would gladly try eating at the grove again if they hired new staff, or retrain the staff they have currently. All in all, I give it a 3 out of 5.

Attentive but non-intrusive service from Samuel. FRESH decaf for my husband and bottomless black coffee for me. My crab cakes benedict were spot on. My husband’s ‘crsipy’ bacon was a little limp. Plates were delivered by someone other than Samuel, when he checked on us he took care of the problem even though we told him it wasn’t necessary. All in all the food was good and service was excellent.

The Grove bills itself as a wine bar but does not have a sommelier on staff. Additionally, the waited did not appear to be knowledgeable at all about the wines. Lastly, the cheeseboard only had 3 cheeses with a variety of other items surrounding them in an attempt to mask the low quality of the cheeses. The main courses were better than expected, however. Overall, the Grove is too expensive for what they are offering.

My only complaint is the 4-top tables. For a full table of 4 people, it's a very close fit. If 2 people are a little on the tall side and sitting next to one another - knees are bumping.
Also, there is barely room for multiple plates if there are 4 people there. And if al 4 people want to order a flight of wine - it's just a huge hassle.

Other than that - you guys are always on point in every area! Food is fantastic and the service is wonderful. Please keep it up!

The food was decent but really needed to be served a LOT hotter. This would have made the world of difference. Wine flights are fun and the wines there are decent. The lighting was AWFUL and apparently even though we asked to turn it down it was going to be too dark. This was ridiculous. The service was good. Our server was attentive...almost overly..felt a tad rushed. WOuld not go back for a date, but would stop in for a bite if I was in the hood.

The restaurant was very crowded, we had reservations and only had to wait a few minutes. We told the waiter that we had theatre tickets and were in a hurry. Within 10 minutes we had wine and dinner sitting in front of us. Really tasty food. We will be sure to go back and this time take friends!

We ordered no salt margaritas, but were served with salt. The food wasn't that good.

Overall good experience. Temperature seemed a bit cool and ambience is kind of industrial. Food and drinks were very good.

I went as a business outing. The food was good but not outstanding. I had the Popeye and Olive Oil pizza. It was fine but not as flavorful as I would like. The appetizers were ordered by others, The cheese plate was very good. Very good selection of wines. This is not a fine dining establishment but a nice place to grab a decent meal. If you looking for a great eating experience I would not suggest this place but if you are looking for a good casual dining environment, Grove will work.

I took my friend out for a birthday dinner here on Monday (1/29/18) and our reservation was at 9:15pm and we arrived a tad bit late at 9:20pm (Downtown Parking). We were welcomed and seated right away it was a Monday night so they weren't incredibly busy. Because they restaurant closed at 10pm, I thought for sure that we were going to get sub-par service and that who comes in 40 minutes before closing look but the service was great and the food was even better. I highly recommend the grove to anyone looking for a good downtown Italian meal and an extensive wine list. Will for sure be back!

The evening was absolutely great. The only weird thing was that an alarm system went off during the meal and it took about 5 minutes to disarm. We were not asked to leave and were not really told what happened. None of the employees seemed too bothered. It was quite loud.
When it was over, everything went back to normal and we continue to have a great experience.
