Friends in town
Great wine flights. Everything is bigger in Texas! The tapas were amazing. Have the bruschetta, you won’t be sorry.
Sat outside. Very nice and relaxing. Wines flights are a fun way to try new wines. Wait staff was very knowledgeable.
Amazing. My girl friends loved it. We had many options on the menu and we each loved what we were served. Our waitress was so sweet, personable. Efficient and helpful too. Loved that valet parking was available. Still talking about the Mimosas.
We went because of the "Brunch menu" on their Opentable site, only to find out that it's a Sunday-only brunch menu, and the daily brunch menu is quite short. When we explained this to our waitress, her response was actually rude. We only stayed because we were in a hurry, and the manager apologized and was very nice. Once we did order, the food was passable, but far from good or memorable. Too bad.
My family and I had a delightful meal and evening at The Grove. The menu is an eclectic mix of unique items. You can choose from soups, salads, pastas, pizza, sandwiches, small plates, and full entrees. Because there were 6 of us and all wanted something different, we ended up tasting many things on the menu. Many of the items are very nice for sharing. Everything we tried was excellent. We shared 3 varieties of bruschetta, Reed's Salad, Avocado Gazpacho, Tomato Shrimp Bisque, Petite Meatballs, Hummus Trio, Cheese Board, Kale salad, Cappellini with Summer Vegetables, plus a Steakhouse Burger. For me, the entree I ordered was my favorite - Coriander Crusted Alaskan Halibut with rice, spinach, and eggplant in a light green curry sauce. The fish was expertly cooked, and the flavors of the dish mingled perfectly. No flavor overpowered another one. The Grove is also a wine bar so their wine list is immense. They also serve wine flights so you can taste a small amount of several different wines. They had 4 local beers on tap, as well as many bottled beers. The dining room has a casually elegant vibe with an appropriate noise level - not too loud and not too quiet. There is a very nice outdoor patio area, as well. Our server Jeff provided outstanding service. He was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and paced the meal beautifully. There was a slight delay in receiving a couple of our items due to a back-up in the kitchen so he rewarded our wait with a free dessert for the table to share. It was a perfect meal in evening in every way. We hope to go back soon and have no problem recommending The Grove to anyone. You will not be disappointed!
Went to The Grove for happy hour and could not have loved it more!!!
This is definitely a trendy restaurant. If you want a restaurant that feels like you are in a big metropolitan area, this is the one for you. Lacks the Austin flair and personality but a good solid restaurant with a good wine menu. My husband I liked the flights of wine and the bruschetta.
Dining at The Grove is always a treat. Wine selection is fantastic (even found an Italian Chianti from a castle we visited last year) and food is always a hit. Highly recommend the bruschetta but don’t forget about the Brussel sprouts!
Very courteous and friendly waitstaff. Our food was delicious and for a reasonable price. I had the corn beef hash and unlike what you get at other restaurants it was not greasy. Fresh sautéed veggies and a light touch on the hollandaise. Perfect!
Food was delicious and well priced for the quality! Will definitely go back next time we are in town.
Excellent food and ambiance. We will be back many times.
Our waiter was awesome and the food was so good.
We celebrated a Bride here! We enjoyed the selection of wine and pasta options! They were also very accommodating of special food requests!
We had a very pleasant Sunday brunch here. Sat outside on the patio, where we had a nice view of the creek. Service was fabulous, food was delicious (I had the crab eggs benedict--to die for!), and there was no wait! I made reservations, just in case, but they weren't needed.
The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the bathroom smelled like an outhouse. Two of the stalls were marked "out of order", so I can only imagine what was sitting in those toilets. It was really disgusting.
We have visited other locations of TheGrove and found that they are constantly tasty. The beet salad was outstanding, as well as the fish dish. Of course the wine selection was terrific! We will continue to take our friends there and enjoy.
Very good food and reasonably priced. Nice selection of wine and not over priced.
My wife and I really enjoyed the Grove Wine Bar! Great outdoor dining.
Delicious food, great menu, and we loved the ambiance.
I actually went back for another meal and was only in town for four days!
Wonderful outdoor seating and nice vibe inside as well. The brushetta was amazing. You pick three types for one order. I shared this as an appetizer and then had the large reed salad.
The original brushetta-tomatoes, basil, mozzarella, etc was terrific. We also loved the pear one. The apple and fig was our least favorite, but still good. But definitely order the first two mentioned. There are many choices.
Food was delicious as always.
It was nice. Great wine flight, service, and ambiance.
La comida fue espectacular igual que el servicio!
Amazing food and service
We really enjoyed our night. The food was delicious (we ordered a lot) and our server was amazing. We will definitely be returning.
We ate at The Grove because of its proximity to another event, but we’ll go back for the delicious food and friendly service. We ordered appetizers and wine, lingered over both, and never felt rushed. The patio is great on a warm evening.
We live in the neighborhood and consider it a good place to see friends.
Nice modern feel to restaurant. Server was courteous in the beginning of the meal but became moodier as the meal progressed. Food and prices were ok but nothing special. I would probably try a different place next time.
A great place to start our first evening in Austin. We were arriving fairly late on a Sunday night and were worried about finding somewhere decent to eat. The Grove solved that - we made an Open Table booking for 9pm and, while the place was fairly quiet when we arrived, we were far from alone. Warmly greeted and very well looked after, we chose a selection of four “small plates” (warning - they’re not small!). Brussels were particularly good, but as were the pork tacos, meatballs and shrimp. Very definitely recommended.
Great atmosphere, wine, and food selection. Music was a bit loud but only a problem when trying to hear the more soft spoken of the group. One of favorite places, hands down.
It was a great experience. We called to let them know we were running late and they were flexible with our reservation. They had a great wine selection and lots of gluten free options. The servers were fun, attentive a knowledgable in not only food and wine, but also in the local area happenings. All in all it was a great experience and we will definitely be going back.
We are huge fans of the Grove in Cedar Park which has a much more sparsely designed dining room and a huge outside area. The downtown Grove is crowded and very noisy which resulted in a less than pleasant experience. I read other reviews that discuss the small tables, cramped accommodations and high noise levels and the restaurant needs to seriously consider how to alleviate those issues. As usual the food was great and the service was great so I give it five stars for that but the anbuence is poor due to crowding and noise.
So surprised that brunch was so good! Lots of vegetarian options which was nice!
We had a group together who all live in another city but were all here at the same time. We celebrated that two of them got recognition in their careers. It was nice to have a booth that fit us nicely. Everyone liked their food.
Mussels excellent. Bruschetta very good. Wine on expensive side. Pineapple upside down cake not so hot - preparation/presentation.
Great place to enjoy a nice dinner. I love their wine flights menu.
From the moment I walked through the door, I didn't receive a friendly vibe. No one was rude, but definitely not personable. That goes for the hostess, and our server. Our server took our drink orders, brought our drinks and immediately took our food orders and then we didn't see her again until the end of our meal. Every item we ordered came out room temperature instead of hot, like I would expect from chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy... when our server finally came back to take our plates she never asked how our food was or if we would like to order more food or another drink. She just came back with the check. I had very high expectations going into the grove being it was my first time and I was recommended by the owner. The food tasted wonderful even though it wasn't at the right temperature, and that's something I can get passed. But the service I receive makes all the difference. I would gladly try eating at the grove again if they hired new staff, or retrain the staff they have currently. All in all, I give it a 3 out of 5.
Attentive but non-intrusive service from Samuel. FRESH decaf for my husband and bottomless black coffee for me. My crab cakes benedict were spot on. My husband’s ‘crsipy’ bacon was a little limp. Plates were delivered by someone other than Samuel, when he checked on us he took care of the problem even though we told him it wasn’t necessary. All in all the food was good and service was excellent.
The Grove bills itself as a wine bar but does not have a sommelier on staff. Additionally, the waited did not appear to be knowledgeable at all about the wines. Lastly, the cheeseboard only had 3 cheeses with a variety of other items surrounding them in an attempt to mask the low quality of the cheeses. The main courses were better than expected, however. Overall, the Grove is too expensive for what they are offering.
My only complaint is the 4-top tables. For a full table of 4 people, it's a very close fit. If 2 people are a little on the tall side and sitting next to one another - knees are bumping.
Also, there is barely room for multiple plates if there are 4 people there. And if al 4 people want to order a flight of wine - it's just a huge hassle.
Other than that - you guys are always on point in every area! Food is fantastic and the service is wonderful. Please keep it up!
The food was decent but really needed to be served a LOT hotter. This would have made the world of difference. Wine flights are fun and the wines there are decent. The lighting was AWFUL and apparently even though we asked to turn it down it was going to be too dark. This was ridiculous. The service was good. Our server was attentive...almost overly..felt a tad rushed. WOuld not go back for a date, but would stop in for a bite if I was in the hood.
