About The Grove Wine Bar and Kitchen Downtown

We only take a small number of reservations so that most of the restaurant is open for guests to walk in and be seated without a wait. If you find no reservations available please don't be discouraged we will likely have a table ready for you when you walk in the door. From the get-go, our goal has been to provide a casual place where Austinites and visitors could enjoy great wine and food. We hope our customers appreciate and enjoy what we do. It truly is a labor of love. A number of people, both current and former employees, have helped make The Grove what it is today. A restaurant can never rest on its laurels, especially in a place like Austin that has so many great dining options. We’re always trying to stay on top of our game and make things even better, and we never lose sight of the initial idea that wine and food are for everyone to enjoy. Cheers - Beth, Matt and Reed

We were visiting Austin for the first time and wanted to eat at The Grove. My wife had the short ribs and she loved them. I wanted to create my own pizza but I was concerned about the rater who claimed to have received a burnt pizza. I asked if the pizza could be made soft and chewy. I was assured that was not a problem. It was a perfect pizza! We shared a key lime pie that was nicely tart. Our wine that evening was a lovely right bank Bordeaux. It was a wonderful evening. We would return if we find ourselves in Austin in the future.

First time visitors to Austin. Love the atmosphere, but the food wasn't great. I got the pizza and all i could taste was burnt. Good to try something new. But probably won't be back.

Two bartenders " living the dream" and an NFL game made this visit a fun time for us. The Pinot Nero was great, as was the bruschetta along with several tapas.
Would return

My friends and I had a wonderful dining experience. Our server was very knowledgeable and recommended the perfect wine to our group. The service was prompt and we never felt rushed to finish our meal. The decor and ambience were ideal and our food was fabulous. We especially enjoyed the bruschetta appetizer choices. I would wholeheartedly recommend The Grove Wine Bar for any special occasion. Thank you for making our girls’ weekend so special.

LOVE sitting on the patio for brunch on the weekends! I live downtown and The Grove is one of my go-to's for brunch! Love the atmosphere, the food is exceptional every time, and the mimosas are poured generously! ;)

Service was excellent! The wine list is extensive and excellent. I had the tomato shrimp bisque soup, ceviche, and an Asian chicken salad. It was all good.

Everything was great! Our server, Jeff, took great care of us and the food was so good. The crispy oysters were my favorite and the bruschetta was a close second. I also love the menu and the outline for diet restrictions. I will definitely be back.

The food was great!! If you are getting a side salad it's enough to feed two!! My colleague thoroughly enjoyed their fried brussell sprouts. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked great as well. You can't go wrong picking this establishment to dine.

This is not the place brunch. While the service itself was fine, the food was mediocre at best. There are plenty of great brunch places in Austin so no need to waste your time here. I might return for dinner however will not bother to come back for brunch.

Superb dinner with our friend before a fun night out on 6th. A GREAT place to start your evening. I have always loved the Bee Caves location, and this one has it's own charm without deviating from the brand.

The bruschetta was delicious. Both of the people I was with really enjoyed their meals (the pork and the halibut). I got the steak salad and while the dressing was delicious, the steak was bland and not very good (and this was after a second attempt with the first being inedible). Other than that the food was really good. Service was okay at best. The server kept forgetting things and very rarely checked in. Would I try it again? Maybe. Would I go out of my way for it? Definitely not

I loved everything about the grove except for the service. When I say service I meant the waiter not the staff as a whole. We asked him to describe the flight that we wanted and all he said was "it's going to be a medium white wines." Well if you drink wine at all you would know that this answer is very poor especially if you're going to work at a wine bar. We asked for opinions about dishes and he had no opinion and responded with "it's really what you're in the mood for..." He checked on us maybe twice the entire time we were there. We got fed up and ended up getting our checks instead of getting another glass of wine like we wanted. I will return but I will ask for another waiter if I happen to sit in his section again.

We shared the spicy ginger noodles and Cuban sandwich and a bottle of wine all at a very reasonable price! Portions were generous and I would definitely opt for a bottle of wine over a glass because of the prices. We would go back!
