Food was mediocre at best. Felt and tasted like the dishes we ordered were pre prepared. Overall didn’t meet expectations at all.
Lovely outside. Great service . Tables are far apart so we did not have to listen to conversations of fellow diners.
Good food and drinks, great atmosphere!
First time to dine at The Grove Wine Bar and food was exceptional.
Great food. Great experience.
Once we got service it was great...but we were seated in a spot right next to the door despite there being a lot of seating available. we asked the hostess if we could sit elsewhere and she got really flustered and said she had to ask someone because there were particular sections that had to be followed. and then no server ever came. We had to flag down a server who then committed to taking care of us even though it was not his section. He was awesome. But we never did have whatever server should have been taking care of show up.
The Grove out in Bee Cave is much better run so we'll likely just keep going to that one.
Great food, and a good place to eat if conversation is important. Nice ambiance and excellent customer service!
The hostess did not account for my RSVP and a table in their main dining room was not immediate available upon my arrival, which was at my reservation time (I was not late).
Fantastic meal! Will be back for sure
Very underwhelming. Were there half an hour before brunch hours cut-off and we had to request the brunch menu, and then get 'approval' from the kitchen to order. Waiter messed up both orders. Food was just okay, but definitely not worth the money.
Food was bad
Visited Austin to see daughters &boyfriend
Great place Great service Great food!! The only suggestion is that the waitress was unfamiliar with Cab Franc when I asked ... when pricing is $$$ servers should know wine list ... after all this is a wine bar!
But she was a great server otherwise and could not complain about the food !!! The pizza was BEST!
The food is excellent here. Only warning or word of caution would be to be careful when ordering small plates as portions here are very generous. But definitely a delicious meal.
We are regulars at the downtown location and visit several times a month as we live in the neighborhood. We have had service issues in the past and unfortunately this past visit was not up to par either. We always book through the open table platform and request "A quiet booth in the back of the restaurant" We indicate that this is a special occasion and our date night. This request is rarely viewed or accommodated unless we bring it to the hostesses attention which defeats the purpose of the request in the first place. This visit the young hostess stated that she did not have an open table in the back. Untrue. The last booth was vacant and just needed clearing. Easy. We would have waited had she made the effort. Instead we were seated in a booth near the front of the establishment next to a party of 15 very loud young diners. Awful! No light in the booth to read the menu. We had to request a candle to see because they could find a bulb for the light. The waitress seemed disinterested in our request. Manager or bartender (?) brought a candle. The food was fine, however the noise level was simply unbearable. We couldn't wait to leave. Staff was not astute enough to ask the large party to quiet down and we were tired of complaining. Management needs to train staff to be more tuned in to diners needs. Not just big parties. Seating request need to be acknowledge and honored. We have dined at other establishments that greet us by last name from our reservation and know exactly where and what we want. They pay attention to regulars. The Grove needs to step it up.
Love love love this place!!
My husband and I dine at two different locations as we really enjoy the food. Food is always consistent but felt our recent brunch service was lacking and food was not hot. My husband had to ask for the itemized bill as the wait person only provided the total amount from her machine. Otherwise, we have always enjoyed our dining experience.
One of our favorites in Austin. We love this place!
Great option for brunch! Was not super busy, and we were able to easily get a seat on the patio. Food and cocktail were good. Would recommend!
Great food and wine. Great service. Come into Austin for race and have eaten here 3 years in a row.
Delicious good and wonderful service.
Took my bestie here for our girls night out in Austin before we headed to the TOOL concert in San Antonio, and this spot was amazing! The Tomato Shrimp bisque was on point for the chilly day we spent roaming 6th Street, and the seared Ahi Tuna salad was superb! Would love to stop here again!
The food was really good! The overall service was not great. Waited a long time to be greeted, was not asked if we would like more to drink. Waters never got refilled just lacking good service.
We enjoyed our lunch very much. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. Very pleasant place to get together with friends.
Service was excellent. Very good wine selection. Food is good, but nothing to write home about.
A very nice place with good food and wine. Will return for sure enjoyed the rooftop and drinks were great on sixth street
We stooped by The Grove - Downtown for an early Saturday evening dinner. It was not crowded, there was a UT game in progress! lol My reviews of The Grove may seem repetitive, but what can I do about that. The service was great, attentive but not intrusive. The Grove has an outstanding wine list, varietals from all over the word, and incredibly reasonable! Its obvious that a lot of thought goes into the wine list. After an introductory cocktail, we tried one of the wine flights (a must have style of serving at any place calling itself a wine bar, right?!), Italian whites this time. We ordered a glass of one of the whites for dinner. Dinner was the fried oysters and the shrimp bisque, both of which I would put up against any place else in town. We shared the "Wine Lover's" pizza, also super good, figs, prosciutto, arugula and several mild cheeses … perfect! If you don't have The Grove - Downtown on your "go to" list of downtown restaurants, you're missing out on a 5 star experience, every time.
Have eaten here a few times & always have a great experience! Friendly service, great variety of food & good bar!
Fabulous service and food. Would recommend that you check and make sure that the partially seaparted party room is not going to be utilized during your dinner. A bridal shower/party group was in there the last 30 minutes of our dinner- they were pretty loud.
We have been here 3x now and have consistently enjoyed our meal, especially small plates with a wine flight. Had the pizza last time and look forward to going again.
Nicer restaurant than advertised. Very social loud place. Good for a party or event. Seating was comfortable.
Menu choices were excellent. Food was excellent. Service was unusually good. Very pleased with whole dinner. Will definitely go back when in Austin
Had dinner at The Grove on Saturday evening, and the food was very good. I loved the vibe--very Austin. Prices were very reasonable. There was an extensive wine list. Also, we had great service from our waiter, Marshall. I would definitely return.
The food was excellent but the highlight was our server Marshall. He was so warm and personable
The staff were very accommodating and prompt, and we enjoyed the ambiance (once we were moved out of the back room, which was awfully loud and bright). The food however left a lot to be desired. Maybe we just didn't order the right things on the menu (brussel sprouts, calamari, berry salad and chicken sliders) but everything was just so so.
My wife and I were visiting Austin on our 45th wedding anniversary and explored online for a good restaurant. We chose The Grove based on the reviews and menu. It did not disappoint. We had a marvelous experience all the way around The food, ambiance and service was excellent. We will be back on our next trip back to Austin.
Celebrated a birthday lunch as was happy with the food and service.
Food was delicious and came out fast. Everyone loved their meals and the shared apps. Creme brûlée was a great birthday dessert too!
We are regulars at the Grove downtown and visit there several times a month. Always leave a 4-5 star review, however this evening was below par. Very short staffed, which was either poor scheduling or employees not showing up. Took 20 minutes to get water and drinks. Then took over 45 minutes to be served two "small plates". (Not entrees) Manager finally caught our eye while we were waiting and came over to the table to check on us because our waiter had not. Found out they had burnt our quail and had to start all over with the preparation. Should have at least comped that part of the meal, but did not. Again we are regulars and have never been acknowledges as so, Disappointing. Management should check their reservations and see who is frequenting their establishment regularly and as least welcome us back and see to it that we receive good service for our commitment to their establishment. Will probably continue to come back, but perhaps not as often as we are disappointed in the poor service.
We loved the bruschetta and calamari and the wine flights are always amazing. This is my favorite place to go out when I am in Austin
My first time here, as I just moved to Austin, and I loved it. Great place, food, and service. I will definitely be back again, and again.
