Very poor service, were neglected from the start manager came with our waters and explained the wait. Ordered an appetizer and left
Downtown for a concert & booked The Grove to see if it was as good as Lakeway location. It was, minus the fine view of Lakeway location.
The atmosphere was okay, maybe a bit stuffy for my taste. The restaurant seemed a bit outdated in terms of decor and theme. I could have gotten past all of that, but our server was rude and barely even spoke to us. He didn’t even introduce himself. I chose this restaurant because they had gluten free pizza on the menu. It tasted very much like regular pizza and was very tasty, but then I got sick later so I am 99% sure it was not gluten free pizza that we were served. I would not recommend this restaurant with all the other awesome restaurants so close by especially if you have celiac disease.
This is our "go to" late night dinner spot as it is just a few blocks from home. Had a hiccup with the reservation as the Open Table website defaulted to a Saturday date instead of the current date of Thursday, causing our reservation was booked on the wrong day. The hostess was very helpful in changing this in the system so we could earn our reward points. (Thank you!) Our waiter was fabulous, funny and efficient, as always. We ordered the quail, meatballs and brussel sprouts. Top notch! And love the new hand held credit card check out. Easy peasy! Loyal repeat customer!
Never disappoints. We shared the fried oysters, crispy cauliflower and shishito, Brussels sprouts and ahi poke. I had the scallops with the sparkling wine flight, and my friends ordered the bolognese with the pinot, ahi salad with the rioja flight and the salmon entree with some spicy tequila cocktail. We also shared the flourless chocolate cake and the creme brulee with some Riussec Sauternes.
Great service and interesting concept of wine. The Steak was AMAZING.
excellent seared tuna salad + great service. Would recommend to all my friends
Had a reservation and was seated immediately. There were up to 5 servers that walked by the table at one point and were oblivious that we sat there for 15 minutes before being acknowledged. Then, a server walked up and said, I’m so sorry, I was just told I’m your server. BAZAAR! Ordered the crab cake benedict. The poached egg was overcooked and had zero runny yolk. The spinach was soggy. Overpriced. So disappointed, as before this experience, The Grove has been one of my a favorite Austin restaurants.
Consistent food and service. Great for business lunches.
Everyone on our team was pleased with their meal and the service was impeccable.
We shared a shrimp appetizer that was so good- we almost ordered another! Then one of us had pasta with shrimp and the other had the steak salad. Great meal, shrimp and steak cooked perfectly and flavorful. We will definitely be back.
Just ok - service was all messed up - timing of appetizer, salads, entrees was terrible. Took a while to get cocktails. Doubt I'll go back.
Enjoyed the selection of wine flights. Food was so-so. Service was just “ok”. Our food was out too fast - didn’t have time to enjoy our drinks. Literally - about 4 minutes. Felt rushed out of there.
What a wonderful brunch! We paired the mimosa flight with the brochette flight and it was perfect! It's the second time I've come here while in Austin and I was NOT disappointed.
Loved it fun place to bring friends and family to have awesome Italian food. Go back and over and over!
Hostess was confused about our reservation. We requested a quiet booth in back of restaurant, but she tried to seat us at a table in the front. At least 4 booths in back were open, so we had to remind her what our reservation stated. Once we were seated it took about 20 minutes to get water which was a tad long, but once our waiter got to us, he was exceptional and very sweet. Always a nice experience at the Grove on 6th. We frequent this spot several times per month.
I love The Grove downtown and in Westlake. They are a wine bar. The wine list needs revision.
Since Reed Clemons opened the original Grove in Westlake more than a decade ago, I’ve loyally dined at each of the 4 locations to find a consistent and rewarding experience. Thanks Reed.
This is one of our frequent visit places to get quality food and good service. We have never been disappointed with either.
We went to The Grove for lunch. Just wanted a place with good food and easy to talk. The food was delicious. We all tried different bruchetta combinations and enjoyed them all. We go to The Grove at Lakeway often and so suggested the downtown location for friends from out of town. Glad to see they are consistent in food and service quality.
Food was good. Service slow. But friendly.
Took forever to receive our entree. Waiter apologized saying the kitchen had misplaced our ticket. Food was cold,
Incredible as always. They take a lot of pride in their food and it shows - the presentation was fantastic and everything we ordered (fried oysters, steak salad, pizza) was beyond delicious.
What a fabulous restaurant. Wonderful ambience, excellent service and fabulous food and wine.
This was our second time to dine at The Grove for an Anniversary celebration, and once again, we were incredibly impressed. Our waiter was extremely personable and we found him very insightful with regards to our food and drink preferences. We enjoyed three scrumptious types of bruschetta, a deliciously spicy Lobster Risotto with grilled focaccia bread, and a dreamy Vanilla Bean Crème brûlée dessert. Thank you for another amazing dining experience!
We went for dinner and was treated to half price glasses of wine! We had bruschetta- a variety for appetizers and salads, pizza and pasta dishes. Very good without being really expensive. Great service too
Great experience and perfect end to a weekend vacation. Great food, half price wine, and excellent service. We also met the owner who was sitting at the bar and had great conversation. I would highly recommend this as a nice but casual meal with great wine list.
The side salad was excellent but the chicken was very rubbery.
Always receive great service! Bread pudding and lobster mac and cheese is the best in town!
Friendly service as usual. Food is always tasty. Take a chance and switch up your menu on occasion or add a daily special
We enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere. It’s a pretty place surrounded by wine bottles!
The food was delicious! And the service was wonderful. Definitely will go back
We ate here after work one evening. Delicious and creative food, beer, and wine. Not too pricey. Our waiter lacked in personality and attentiveness. He never smiled or came to ask how we were doing or if we were enjoying our food and drinks. We either waved him down or asked another waitress to call him. I probably wouldn't go back to this Grove on 6th St because of the service. It was one mile away from the bars and music area.

Great spot. Very cool vibes, friendly staff, fast service and great food.
Fav place to go to, unfortunately the server was not great at all. Reservations were at 8pm, immediately sat, ordered drinks at 8:07 and after he dropped them off, i finally flagged another server at 8:22 to take our order... the same new server brought our food and the original server came back only to give us the check, no desert or coffee suggested! We were really looking forward to the dinner, but the experience left a very bland taste in our mouths to say the least. I think I’m done with that location for a while! Don’t recall his name but he was about 5,9” sandy red hair! With glasses!!
Bolognese was excellent
Absolutely wonderful red snapper preparation and presentation. Daughter loved the linguini with ricotta. I am so happy that we ventured three quarters of a mile from convention center area to try this place. We had good experiences in other settings the past two evenings in Austin, but this was by far the best — and the only reservation I made on the visit over the three days for just three of us. I am impressed that every establishment appears to have a selection of local draft beer, even a so-called wine bar. A fantastic final meal for the final night in Texas.
