The Grounds of Alexandria Cafe
Best coffee, food and service. Do yourself a favour and visit this place, you won’t regret it!
Really happy with the service and specially the host.
Service was great at such busy/popular cafe. Food was pricey thou
Nice environment with delicious cakes!! And the nearby is suitable for photo shooting!
Very busy and overwhelming - to be honest I probably wouldn’t go again because I just don’t like how busy it is. That said, we went to the cafe, and food ambiance was great. We went during the week and had a booking, so didn’t have to wait too long. Highly recommend booking to avoid the wait if you go during the week (no bookings on weekends).
Will come back for sure
Way too busy, staff did not check on us. Food was below average. Rushed out to make way for others. Really disappointing, couldn’t wait to leave in the end.
Excellent environment and atmosphere. Mouth-watering food.
The food was excellent but staff were too quick to try to get us to leave, even twice attempting to take my drink before I’d finished it and again asking several times if we wanted the bill!!
As always, excellent food and friendly, efficient and wonderful service.
The only negative is the pavlova I pre-ordered as a birthday cake had such a hard base it was inedible, so in effect, I paid $55 for cream and fruit.
The place is incredibly beautiful. Staff is friendly... presentation of the food is nice but it is so plain and tasteless. Breakfast was quiete disappointing.
Service wasn’t the best. Staff were hard to flag down and not helpful!
We had an amazing time at The Grounds and would highly recommend this place
I booked a table in advance for a Birthday brunch as a family. Was disappointed to be seated at a bar like table in the back. The glasses on our table were dirty still - we had to follow up our coffees after our meals were served and then they were wrong. We then charged for the wrong coffee 🤦🏽♀️ And told by the waiter when we raised it that he will give us a discount? We never ordered the coffee u charged us for! Our meals were initially delivered wrong, then taken back which was slightly annoying. We have been here before and enjoyed it - this is disappointing to see the service has dropped so much. The waiter was unapologetic and needs to learn not to be more friendly. I will not be coming back and giving it another go unfortunately. It was a $90 breakfast on my birthday that was unenjoyable.
Turns a simple lunch outing into an absolute experience, great food, fast and friendly service, reasonably priced, fun atmosphere with parking.
We love the Grounds and are regular customers for special occasions and travel quite a distance to come. The lack of parking and subsequent 45 mins of circling to get a spot and the early closure of the garden bar soured a birthday lunch for us yesterday. Was hellish! The grounds themselves were as beautiful as always and food great but parking is a real problem
I loved the ambience and the outside setting where our table was. The food was delicious I had the big brekkie, my friends loved the avo toast with egg and bacon. The service was great however they mixed up my prefer at the start which delayed my food. Overall I loved it and would definitely go back !
Not a good place for chatting - too noisy but the foods and drinks were great!
We were seated in the Garden Cafe with a reservation on Wednesday 22 May. Drinks order taken. Food order was taken 45minutes later!! We were not offered any desert/coffee. Moved to the Potting Shed for coffee - as outside cafe/bar was closed. The staff here were much more attentive and we were served quickly and asked if there was anything else we would like. The general feeling was much more geared to customers. Would not go to the Garden Cafe again:( As it was for a Birthday - very disappointing.
Its beautiful sure but overrated to be honest. Food is oily, not much and expensive for what it is
First time at the Grounds. Absolutely very beautiful. I would say magical. You don't even feel like been in Sydney. very well done you projected it.
The venue is always so interesting and it was a delight to bring my overseas visitor here. The staff were fabulous and looked after us very well. Very personable service. Thanks for a great experience.
Hi Janine! Thank you so much for your fabulous feedback. Glad that you had a great experience with us 🙂 See you next time, Sarah- Cafe Manger
Delish and filling food with amazing coffee. Definitely a must see destination.
A very good and special restaurant. Recommend to have more food option.
The staff are always super helpful and the coffee and cakes are delicious
Food and service was really good! Loved it here and would definitely return
Food & service were good but so so noisy. Not sure if I’d rush back to dine at the cafe.
Ambience galore. Food yummy. Staff lovely but kept far too busy with cafe full at lunchtime, making it difficult to give attentive service. Delightful to wander through the gorgeous garden courtyards following lunch, making The Grounds a stand out from the usual cafe experience!
Beautiful location, great atmosphere, amazing coffee and good food! Harry Trotter the resident pig was the highlight for my 1.5 year old. He has to be the happiest pig ever.
Food are good but so many people, service are just so so
A bit crowded and noisy but that’s to be expected.
Food was great and not bad value.
Great place to catch up with friends
Good quality food and very nice presentation. Every corner of the place is an Instagram picture.
Incredible place, incredible atmosphere, food service and timing was unbelieveably fast especially considering the number of people. Staff were everywhere and very helpful. Wish there was one in Adelaide
Thanks so much Sean, this is awesome to hear! We’ll pass this on to the team working at The Potting Shed Hope to see you again soon! Regards Gareth, Restaurant Manager
Biggest issue was not having any parking available or anyone organising it. Top parking was closed and I was forced to park 750m away almost missing me booking
The venue is eclectic!! The food and coffee was really excellent. Great effort on fitting all that is onsite into such a tight packed space.
However, the level of noise in the Grounds, along with my hearing impairment made it very much a site where i was keen to depart after a short while. Would it be possible to establish a few more quieter areas toward the far corners of the cafe?
PS: i loved how promptly i was seated, in fact about 8 to 10 minutes in advance of my booking time. Make booking a delight when it all works. :)
Thank you so much for this wonderful review Ian. We’re so glad you enjoyed yourself - we hope we can welcome you back again soon! Regards Gareth, Restaurant Manager
Highly recommend brunch or lunch at this wonderful venue
Base on the outdoor and interior design, I would still recommend The Grounds. BUT, the service is not as good as before or expectation. I made a reservation for my friends who came from overseas for a vacation. I paid for the 12% extra service fee, but I have to wait for the reserved table for more than 10 minutes. No mention that the table is finally set at an outdoor area without asking our preference. I saw a lot of walk-in customers entered into the cafe. Thus, I am really confused about why I have to make a reservation for an unreserved table.
I thought the food was lovely and very quickly served which was great. The staff could have been a little bit more friendly but other than that I thought it was great.
