The Grounds of Alexandria Cafe
To be honest, I was pretty disappointed. This place is so highly spoken of so was expecting better.
Upon arriving, no one greets you. Waited to be seated and the guy was borderline rude, his customer service skills were pretty bad.
Then got seated, it’s a pretty noisy and crowded place.
Partners coffee came and then I waited approx 10mins for mine. Food came straight out, no time to drink some coffee before. The food was nice, I had the omelette, but definitely over priced. No cutlery on the table, lipstick on my water glass and staff that don’t look pleased to be there. Won’t be going back. Only highlight of the trip there was the markets!
The food and atmosphere were amazing. Seating is slightly tight, hard to bring a pram. However, lovely restaurant overall.
This is the second time my food has come barely warm to me while dining at the grounds. I was the only one at the table so I didn’t make a big deal about it but I wouldn’t recommend it.
i only did the booking in the early morning and confirmation was received
however i was running late and i called the guy that answered the phone kindly extended my reservation to 30 minutes
waitress was able to attend to us and provide our orders very quick despite of busy morning and again enjoyed my experience in Grounds. staff are always asking in case we need water, anything else
very good experience and also enjoyed the Maleficent theme around the place
Waitress didn’t enter my order and the kitchen closed in the meantime and ended up not receiving any meal.
It’s not the same as what it used to be. It’s now a busier restaurant and the service is very impersonal. The host was particularly rude when seating us. The waiter leaned over the table, made no eye contact. We weren’t offered tea/coffee or dessert at the end of our lunch. Staff appeared stretched. There was a feeling that it was a production type environment, seating and rotating patrons for the purpose of optimisation.
The food doesn't taste well. Outdoor takeaway is much better than indoor eating.
Exceptional quality food and service. Fantastic atmosphere and the decor is visionary. A flower arrangement behind my head on the inside bench seats was annoying. The music was pumping which for me didn’t fit with the vision but everything else was great. I ordered the vegetarian big breakfast. It was SO big!!!! And YUM!
Love the ever changing menu. The taste and presentation never disappoint. There's so much to explore both inside and outside the cafe. It's a beautiful venue for all occasions. I highly recommend this place for all ages.
It really have to go to this restaurant!!! Nice coffee and meal. And especially they have a great place to let people go around after we finished our breakfast~
I was expecting a better menu, with more food options.
It was noisy and crowded but it was expected as it was a public holiday.
I think 15% surcharge is over the top
The whole experience was amazing, great atmosphere, staff were amazing! Food was to die for ! Everything was perfect thank you
Fantastic service. We ordered within 10 minutes of arriving and our food came out about 5 minutes later, I was astonished at how fast the service was. Coffee was great too. Always love visiting and will definitely be back again.
Food was good. Staff were great considering how busy it was. It was just extremely loud, you couldn’t hear the person next to you without leaving in cheek to cheek and speaking very loudly.
It was my first time at the Grounds and I was impressed with the quality of food and coffee. Also the staff was extremely friendly. I will definitely come back again.
We booked online only to arrive early and table was not ready. Was told to come back which we did at 11am and was placed outside with elderly parents. Asked to be inside with air conditioning and was told additional 25 minutes wait. We waited with no further table was ready and no service provided. By now we had waited almost 2 hours and we ended up leaving. We grabbed takeaway cake from patisserie area and coffee from bar area. Loved the ground and ambiance but not impressed with service, restaurant or long wait times.
I took my daughters for a special mummy-daughter breakfast. We wanted to see the Maleficent decorations, after we watched the movie the night before. We loved the atmosphere and food! Will definitely be back again!
Had a beautiful breakfast with my family. The ambience was just amazing.
Beautiful ambience , food and fast and friendly
Customer service. Very enjoyable experience.
What a wonderful and bright place for brunch! Food was delicious, creative and fun. It was great to walk around after and explore the grounds after.
Booked table and it was out the back in a small space. The waiter Robert was rude and disrespectful, overtly displayed his higher opinion of himself above us. He rushed us to order and eat with no client centricity. Then we had to get up and ask for plates and cutlery to eat dessert. The best part of the meal was dessert. Im unsure what the hype is about with the Grounds. The parking is atrocious and the food, a very limited menu, and service is nothing to rave about, in fact, sub par. I wouldn't go there again and couldn't recommend.
Great service and excellent food, will definitely be back! Was nicer earlier in the morning as it wasn't as busy.
Refreshing, childhood nostalgia and great food!!! Every corner, cafe and gardens, has a little treat!
Very very crowded. lost our order. Maybe come back on a week day.
We were extremely disappointed.
There was no personal attention, the waiters don’t listen properly.
When they bring food or drinks to the table, they don’t ask who is having what, instead they just shove it anywhere with no care factor.
The prices are totally ridiculous...$24 for a sub standard hamburger, I can get a much better burger at the local takeaway for a sixth of the price.
You can only have a table for an hour then you have to get out for the next lot of people.
The atmosphere was nice and rustic, but it’s clear that this is only a money making venture for the owners, nothing else. The staff are under the pump and unenthused.
We are regular restaurant goers and we certainly won’t be back.
Absolutely loved it. Service, food, value all was perfect
The best place to catch up with friends😊 and for taking pictures. A great place to take a relative who visit from overseas.
Have been a few times and doesn't disappoint. Although a few plants need watering!
Came here on my final day in Sydney on recommdations, was definitely worth it. The location is a bit difficult to reach by public transit but once you arrive, prepare to spend some time there.
The food was amazing and reasonable for the price. Reserving the table made the experience pretry smooth overall.
Beautiful, but way to crowded.
Staff pressured order and tried to up sell, not keen on offering kids menu.
It was my first visit and I was most impressed. Helpful and friendly staff, fabulous food and service and a wonderful ambiance.
I had a delicious lunch in the Cafe with two friends and all our meals were fresh, plentiful and well presented. The service was friendly and quick and it was great to wander around the Grounds and enjoy the scenery.
Thank you for a wonderful experience.
A beautiful restaurant, I have a good breakie at the ground.
Amazing use of space and beautiful grounds. The food was incredible and reasonably priced.
Service was quick and staff were great.
Great decorations around for lots of pictures. Food is good too! Huge burger indeed
The cafe was way too dark, we were sitting in the section at the back, the tables at the front had a lot more light. The plates that the eggs your way cane out on made it a bit awkward to eat. Service was good, staff were very helpful.
We went to see the Candy display which didn't disappoint - bright and cheerful. Our pastries and coffees were delicious, particularly the deconstructed iced mocha. Not a lot of choices for vegetarians if we wanted a main meal.
Wonderful ambience, great food and coffee!
Amazing place for breakfast or lunch!
Food was delicious! and love the coffee! Staff are very friendly an helpful.
It's a lovely place. Getting a table was a breeze with booking made ahead of time, we were taken to our table straight away. The team is very helpful and efficient. Coffee is great! We even ordered second round of coffee because it's so good. The big breakfast was great, it's enough for me to share with my daughter. The kids milk shake is so cute it came in a teddy bear glass. So much to see in this place for kids. The shed area looks great too
