We made a reservation on Open Table only to arrive and find the restaurant was closed until further notice.
Delicious And friendly staff. All seven of us enjoyed our experience.
Service was terrible. They seated us then forgot to assign a waiter. Never was checked on after receiving our food, which was just ok. $25+ for a burger... tripping...
We came for the special “Dog People Brunch” weekend out on the patio that was advertised and were thoroughly impressed with the meal we had. Their special Sawtooth Ridge eggs Benedict was fabulous! And they were really sweet to our Golden Retriever, bringing him a nice water bowl, treats, and attention. We’ll be back for sure!
Excellent new restaurant in the Northstar Resort Village. We were impressed with the variety of food on the menu, and the freshness of the ingredients, including fresh fish. The service was friendly and helpful. Overall, a very lovely dinner and would recommend.
Thought the restaurant was better last year. Service can change over visits at any restaurant, but the food was very expensive for the quality. Even with a kids menu, it is not a good family restaurant either.
I eat out a lot, and it just wasn't worth the price. Not when their are other places with better food,
First time. Will come back!
The clam chowder soup made one of my daughters sick and the other didn't care for her hamburger. She thought it was very bland. Very expensive for a disappointing experience!!
Food was very enjoyable but the bartender sure made some excellent drinks!!!! Service was great!
Terribly long wait: 45 minutes before any food came out. Only 1 out of 6 dishes ordered was actually decent.
Great ambiance...great family restaurant...nice to have an upscale restaurant with an extensive kid’s menu. Something just happened in the kitchen the night we were there, & we did not receive our food until an hour after we ordered it.
I reserved ahead of time here on Opentable and things went very smoothly.
This was an ideal place to have a beer and a meal after a day on the slopes. The beer and wine selection was great. The tacos were really good as well as the burgers. Did not get to try any of the larger main entrees, but there was plenty of choices on the menu there as well.
Food is very good, out server Jeff was also very friendly and nice. Not enough staff so we had to wait even though they had open tables.
Price is fair for village food and portions are quite big, overall good experience and would come back again
Not enough staff
Took a long time to get our drinks because bartender took a break !
Manager was very nice to cover drinks but prefer our drinks before appetizer arrives
All our dinners were very good
The food was good enough and came out very hot. Odd thing was that our apps and drinks hit the table with lightning speed and then we found ourselves waiting forever for our entrees. We’d been seated 50 minutes before they arrived. Server was nice, they accommodated us being late for our reservation, and graciously tolerated our toddler messes. All in all decent - we’ll be back to give it another round!
Food was really good.
Fish tacos are some of the best that I've had. The cole slaw was great; I don't think they make it with mayonnaise, or if they do, they didn't use much. The cauliflower rice was unexciting, but a nice option for those who need to stay away from rice. The Fish and Chips were a generous serving and very good.
The main shortcoming was the service (appetizer served with entree, long to get order and drinks, long to get food and bill), but I hope/expect that this had to do with the horrific and historic weather that had happened the prior 24 hours (24" snow in 24 hours). They also didn't have a couple of the beers on tap, but maybe this also had something to do with the weather.
I would certainly try them again.
I love the relaxed feel of this place. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The cocktails, dinners and kids meals were superb. Everyone loved the poke bowls. Service was well-timed and friendly, dinner was affordable.
The calamari was lots of batter and soggy. IThe ahi tuna and halibut were delicious
Terrific, original dishes.
They were out of many items on the menu
If it wasn’t for the resort location it would probably already be out of business. Not worth the $25 per person deposit they require just to make a reservation. Food was mediocre, service poor, decor half hearted.
Food was not good and it took a long time . Too expensive for not tasty food
Will not return.
Both the servers and food were delightful. Service at the front (the entry), on the contrary, was below satisfactory. Ambience in the front of the restaurant was lovely, but the back of the restaurant was loud and dark. Nonetheless, this would be a recommendable restaurant for all sorts of guests.
Great food and service.
We were given a drink and an appetizer and then no service or dinner for 45 minutes. Pretty tough after skiing all day! Great waiter but his hands were tied because the kitchen couldn’t get the food out! However we should have been checked on and offered more water or drinks during that 45 minutes
We went to the grille for Christmas Eve dinner while on vacation in Lake Tahoe - not only were we seated by the window overlooking the gorgeous Lake Tahoe but the restaurant was decorated so beautifully for the season The food was delicious and the staff couldn’t be friendlier
Great service. Nice atmosphere. We sat near the bar so a bit noisy. Great food. Quite a busy night but staff was pleasant, accurate and timely. Nice addition in Northstar Village.
At least 3 mistakes with the 11 dishes we ordered. Wired sitting arrangement with wiggly tables. Final bill automatically includes 18% service fee without asking.
Our server William was outstanding!!! Made our night. First time in restaurant yet we’re 20 year Northstar home owners. After missing Mikuni we had high hopes for what this dining experience could be. Didn’t disappoint!
Went to try someplace new. Came away excited. We shared Wings, Kalua Tacos and LocoMoco. It was an Hawaiian feast. Definitely will come back.
Great experience at Northstar.
We went because we had Truckee Local discount and wanted to try this restaurant located in the old Mikuni spot at Northstar. It was a wonderful experience. It is Hawaiian inspired, with a good mix of Asia and California cuisine.
We started with the crab cakes, asparagus, soup-of-the-day (turkey chowder), and bread. Everything was fresh - huge amount of crab in the very delicate crab cakes. the soup was my favorite. I could eat it every day- chunks of roasted turkey, mushrooms, onions, many other veggies in an amazing broth.
My son and I had a fish special (cod) and salmon entree- both were perfect. Cod had a sweet potato puree and the salmon was with mashed potatoes and asparagus. my hubby and our friend had poke bowls. Lots of options and choices to make the bowls tasty.
We also shared a donut with ice cream and topping for dessert which my son (teenager) says was the best thing he has ever had.
The portions are moderate, not large and pricing is not terrible high but is resort pricing. Even with all the food, we didn't leave stuffed. It was great to have a variety dishes and share long with our mains. Our total bill including the "dining for school" discount on two entrees was just under $40/person including tip/ tax.
We'll definitely be back!
Maybe perhaps due to the time of year the place was very empty. Not many people in the village- you would think the food would be really good since we were one of four tables in the restaurant. The food was alright nothing to shout good things about. The service was fine. Although almost every dish was not very hot and they took our order as our appetizers just arrived so their set the appetizers growing more cold as we ordered our main dish. The brownies warm with Ice cream was a birthday treat was the best part of the meal.
My wife and I ordered the poke/Himachi, pulled pork tacos, and pulled pork salad. The Himachi was fresh and tasty; however, the pulled pork dishes were very bland and lacked flavor. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful but the kitchen was slow and, while we ordered an appetizer and main courses, the entire meal was served at one time.
In sum, the food was ok, the ambiance was ok, and the service was excellent. We won’t be back because there is simply nothing memorable about the experience.
We sat outside on a nice evening. It was really loud due to the band playing at the roller skating rink. The food was great. We had the seafood special which was very fresh & the fish & chips had maybe the freshest fish ever in fish & chips - definitely not frozen, it was delicious. The Hawaiian ribs & Kahlua pork was ok but not the same quality as the fish. Nice new addition to Northstar. Keep up the quality of the fish & we will be back!
Our food was all good and our server did a great job. Do yourself a favor and skip the coffee tasted like brown water.
