Everyone’s meal was too salty. Steak ordered medium well came out medium rare.

The overall dining experience was incredibly rushed for such an expensive meal. Spending $150 on a dinner with a shared appetizer and 1 glass of wine, then being rushed out after an hour, makes this dinner not worth it. It is obvious they were most interested in turning and burning tables. The restaurant was very busy and extremely loud. You needed to shout to be heard. Our appetizer of shrimp bang bang was incredibly good. My boyfriend ordered a $50 rib eye cooked medium after discussing which temperature to order with our server. The steak came out almost raw which was such a disappointment. My tuna was good but overcooked. On the upside our server was really sweet, efficient and informative.

Went with 2 friends for no particular occasion. It was the day before Valentines Day so it was busy but not booked full. We arrived 20min early for a 7:30 reservation; the hostess said she could seat us whenever. We grabbed a cocktail from the bar first. The bartender talked to a waitress for a few min while I was trying to square the bar bill before going to the table; otherwise, the cocktails and service was great. Again, aside from longer than desirable service for our purposes, the food was great if a bit overvalued for all la carte dining.

Service was timed perfectly. We did not have to wait long for anything. The food was incredible and we’re looking forward to our next meal there. 10/10 would recommend heavily.

My husband took me out for my birthday dinner, the Grill room at my request. We’ve been there several times and never disappointed except for the last two visits. This visit the waitress didn’t bother to ask if I wanted an appetizer and then came back and started walking away after my husband ordered beer without asking me if I wanted a cocktail. She did get better as the night went on.

I ordered The Grill room salad or an appetizer and when it came it looked OK until I dug into the lettuce underneath, it was not fresh it was brown. My fish was Bert around the outside and cold in the middle and contained many pin bones!

My husband said his mail was OK at best.

We probably will not go back again.

This is a cute place, great cocktail list and food menu.
My 2 complaints: when the food came, we ordered another round of drinks, which our server went to put in. It was after she left we realized the mash potatoes were cold. We would have had her correct this, but we were waiting almost 15 minutes for her to come back, so we just sucked it up, didn't want the rest of the food to get cold.
Also at our seats, which were a rounded back, there was no where for me to put my purse, other then the floor... Which, in the middle of winter, I have no desire to put my bag on a wet, salt drenched floor.

Loud so hard to have a conversation at times

Everything I have tried has been so very tasty. Each cut of steak is cooked perfectly and melts in your mouth.

Have to say great dinner, a little pricey on entrees that don’t come with anything . Martha was our sever and did an awesome job and made you feel right at home. A lot to choose from on this menu.

We had a late reservation (9:15pm) and I think that worked against us. My trout was thin and dry. And the chocolate cake we ordered was so dry, not really edible. :/

The Grill Room is my favorite winter go-to. The experience is very different if you sit at the bar for happy hour, or a table for dinner. However, both are met with excellent service and consistently good food.

Server was excellent. Arrived at restaurant 15 minutes early but they wouldn't seat us yet. Went to a bar across the street for a drink, then back at reservation time. Food was excellent. A little over priced for what you are getting. Still very delicious.

It was perfect

Great vibe. Our favorite spot in Portland. We’ve sat at the bar, tables, even kitchen bar (fun watching food prepared) and always enjoyed ourselves.

We used to frequent The Grill Room but had not been in a while. The service was still excellent. The food was not the same.

The shrimp bang-bang is now much smaller shrimp and way less tasty than previously. The pork belly, although still described the same on the menu, is prepared differently than before - and just my opinion not in a good way.

The steak, although cooked medium when we requested medium well, was still very good - I just prefer my steak to be warm throughout and not still red.

All in all this won't stop us from visiting again but will probably try a few different menu items instead of sticking with our tried and true but now changed choices.

Excellent food, great service. Grilled romaine salad a staple and always incredibly good. Salmon and sides were great.

The Grill Room never disappoints!

Probably one of the best meals we've had! We came to Portland for our 7 year anniversary and this place was so good. We had the steak and frites, the pork chop and apple special, and the apple fritters for dessert. AMAZING! Not only was it amazing but the place was so nice and the staff was not snooty..usually at nicer/fancier restaurants the staff can be quite snooty and even rude but this was NOT the case here. 10/10 we will be back!

Have had the chance to dine at the Grill Room a few times recently and it's consistently delicious and the service, the food and the ambience are all super!

Excellent meal in an amazing atmosphere. Would have liked a larger table. But other than that this will be our go to steak restaurant in Portland. Delicious!

Granted we were the last reservation slot on Christmas Eve, but the bar closed halfway into our dining time and people were cleaning up around us. It felt rushed. Christmas Eve also happens to be my husbands birthday so we wanted to separate it from the usual Christmas festivities. I would have preferred they moved my reservation earlier and then let the staff start shutting down after.

I'm not a big foody, so I don't get out to any of the Portland restaurants very often. It is hard for me to judge the fair value of the food served. I find the price of the meals to be on the high side but have little to compare them to. Regarding the rest of the points of judgment, I was very pleased with food quality, the general atmosphere of the place and the service that was rendered. Our concert ran a bit longer than expected and though we arrived not that long before they were due to close there was no pressure on me or my guest to hurry our meal, which was very much appreciated.
I have been there once before and I suspect that I will go there again.

Great food, fun vibe, and wonderful place for family gatherings. Never had a bad meal at the Grill Room. Really good choice in a very popular foodie city.

Great food and excellent service

The olives in wood oven roasted olives appetizer were good but the really need to be pitted beforehand or let the customer know. The pits were not only present but extremely hot. I could see a potential of a guest burning the inside of their mouth. Not the best dining experience.

We go to the Grill Room every year around the holidays and sit at the bar! It’s amazing, delicious and fun!! Happy hour is amazing!! Run there and don’t stop! Get the Brussels and the shrimp!!! Yum!!

Great location and fun bar but very congested and noisy. The waiter was very good and the food was too but we felt sort of confined and had a hard time conversing. The prices seemed a bit high, too.
