What Insiders Are Saying
The Grill is the revamp of the legendary Four Seasons restaurant, run by the people behind Carbone. It’s very similar, very expensive, and worth it.
No Prime Rib on a Friday Night at 10pm....theyre signature dish. What is the answer from the (btw very attentive waiter)”we close in an hour”....well then why do you take reservations at 10? Oh btw there where parties arriving at 11:30 and ordering from the menu! And worse a couple having the Prime Rib when we were on our coffe....the NYC Strip which was the reccomendation after the prime rib was completely dry and overcooked i should habe returned it BUT i didnt want to continue to argue, what a waste for a 75$ steak. The duck and the sides were incredible...
We were seated over 30 min late. They were very apologetic. The service was very good but not as wood as Eleven Madison
This restaurant was a colossal disappointment. In fact, we felt robbed when we left. The ambiance is lovely; however the food was horrible. The chopped salad was poorly seasoned, the salmon was inedible and the duck was full of fat. This restaurant is trying so hard and failing. Someone in the kitchen needs to check the viability of the food before it hits the floor. I rarely write reviews but please heed the warning. Put your money elsewhere. This Is possibly just worth a trip to the bar to enjoy the ambiance. Then run fast to another restaurant for dinner.
Our meal was outstanding! Tho quite expensive it was that rare situation where you felt it was worth the cost.
We all enjoyed our food, the service and the atmosphere very much and look forward to returning !
amazing as always!!!
went with my hubby and my 2 sons the place is beautiful and the service is impeccable our server was adam and he recommended the pasta dish which was the the best dish on the menu we all loved it they come to the table and press the duck for the juice to go over the homemade pasta my husband had the scallops which came in its shell a nice presentation. the server then opens the shell for you to reveal the scallop also had the tuna ravigote which is tuna sashimi and the lamb chops. and i can’t forget the desert had the lemon chiffon cake delicious i would definitely recommend this place. it can be a little pricey but definitely worth it next time i’d love to try there other restaurant the pool which is across the hall it’s much quieter room and there menu consists of seafood
Mediocre ..at best and way overpriced and overhyped . Prime rib was so salty and Baked Alaska was below average. They didn’t let the alcohol burn off before the sauce went over top so it tasted horrible. So many other fantastic choices in this great city so sadly I will not be back
An experience never forgotten. Very good food, perfect service, gorgeous space. Pricy by worth it.
Over priced + mediocre food + ok service = poor value. Don’t waste your money.
My wife and I live in Manhattan and frequent high end restaurants often. We watch CBS Saturday Morning regularly which has a segment on successful chefs. As a regular restaurant exploration strategy, we usually make it a point to eat at least once, at one of their local recommendations. Such was the case for The Grille.
I had the pasta supresse as an appetizer, filet mignon for my main course, and the lemon chiffon cake for desert. My wife had the crab cake for appetizer, the pheasant for her main course and she shared the cake for dessert.
The pasta was over salted, over cooked, and drenched in butter. So much so that I had a few fork fulls and stopped eating it. Not a big deal if it weren’t for the fact that it’s a $38 dollar appetizer! My wife’s crab cake was even saltier. I guarantee that an analysis of these dishes would identify over 1000mg of salt on each dish. The filet mignon cut of meat was outstanding but again, too salty. My wife’s pheasant was better but not memorable.
The cake was the best dish of the evening so my hats off to the pastry chef. The service was mediocre. The best service came from the assistant captains. The captains appear too busy looking at everything other than their diners. When you see the amount of staff to customer ratio, it’s small wonder that our meal cost $390 (incl 18% tip).
Won’t come back.
Beyond impressed. Duck is the best in the city all I can say is I'm impressed with those who can be honest and admit this is a world class place nyc is lucky enough for someone to step up and create. Wanted to hate it. Loved it from start to finish
Read all the good reviews, but the prime rib we ordered was very dry and over cooked. All 5 of us in our party were not impressed. I’ve had much better prime rib at many other places. The other dishes we ordered were better, especially the duck and mushroom omelette.
Service was excellent and 4 inch tall roast beef sandwich was not what I was expecting but it was fantastic.
It was a wonderful experience. The staff were excellent. There was never an occasion where we found ourselves wanting for anything.
An all time classic given a wonderful and thoughtful new glow while maintaining the iconic setting.
Food was delicious. Captain Paul was amazing. Bar staff lacks hospitality. May I have some water? “Yah”. No hellos or welcomes. Bey standoffish. Front door and management very nice.
Was very dissatisfied with the level of service and quality of food. Poor seating choice for a couple on their anniversary. Food was medicocre at best. Service was almost non existent. Waiter was absentee for most of the dining experience. The only thing that was nice was the ambience and the music, but not worth the money.
Great place, very New York. Service is on point from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. Very classic menu, food is great. I had a steak that was cooked perfectly, oysters were fresh, and the drinks were stiff. Something not always noticed from restaurants but the playlist was perfect and set the perfect ambiance. Definitely worth going.
Our service was impeccable and tailored to us and our style. Adam and his support team were available, warm and sensitive to our needs. The meal was excellent and unique. Felix gave us a tour of the kitchen, which was a fascinating peek behind the curtain! Thanks to everyone there!
We went to The Grill to wish my daughter a bon voyage before a one year trip . We enjoyed every aspect of the evening. I was concerned it would be stuffy but I was wrong. Just the right amount of warmth and respect for the diners .The food and atmosphere are of course epic but the people working there made it a very special occasion. Thank you - we’ll be back.
Our res was at 615 and they were so pleasant when we came early and seated us at 5p. The music was very loud from the bar area and not our kind of music which made it hard to talk on this special occasion. Our dinner for three was about $1000 but my husband said he would go again as the food was perfection and creative and the service very attentive and with lovely staff who were fun. The new decor is pleasant but quite plain dark and masculine no peacocks!
Best location for a business meal. Location is quiet and tables spaced far enough so no one can hear your conversations. Service is always on point.
Unbelievable and unmatched culinary experience. Amazing service like no other. Yes, it is one of the most expensive restaurants in the city but we already know that. This is not a restaurant you go to with budget in mind. This is a restaurant you go to for a special occasion when you really want to bathe yourself in luxurious service and an unmatched culinary dining experience. If you can’t do it monthly or yearly, you must not miss going just once in your life. You won’t regret it.
Expensive but worth it. The service, the food, the place, everything is fantastic!!
Langoustines were superb.Prime rib could have been better but filet mignon was amazing. Desserts were delicious.
The food and service were excellent and the portions very generous. It’s expensive, but definitely worth it.
Expensive but the food, service and room were exemplary!
Brilliant execution of a terrific concept. Manhattan has needed this to invigorate the midtown dining scene. Well done and thank you for a great food experience.
The prices were outrageous, considerably more than other steakhouses.
The service is the most outstanding part of THE GRILL experience - from formal, but friendly, waitstaff to the tableside preparation and show to the manager Felix being an integral part of the floor experience, this was a meal to remember and we are so glad to have been able to celebrate our anniversary there!
I was very disappointed in this over hyped restaurant. My steak came out half done and had to be sent back. My wife’s steak was cold in the middle. We did not receive an apology or anything for these mistakes. I paid full price for a terrible experience. We eat at fine dining restaurants all over the U.S. and this is not one of them. To top it off, it was my spouse’s birthday.
The staff, the food, the service and the room were exceptional. A must go for a special occasion. An iconic location with lots of history. It was a pleasure meeting the the grill manager Felix, who friendly and appreciated my feedback of the night.
Only complaint is the $95 corkage fee... Kind of excessive.
Food took a long time to come, even cold appetizers. Steak tasted bad, raw and hard to eat.
Incredibly attentive staff. Food very good. More pricey than needs to be.
Great service and great food, one of the best in the city
Simply outstanding, expensive but worth every cent.
Amazing service and food came promptly!
Pretentious place serving average food and drinks at exorbitant prices.
Everything was terrific. Service and good was excellent. Great wine list. Would highly recommend.
