The Grill from Ipanema - DC
Waiter was nice and helpful. Very engaging and told us a little about the history and culture.
Food was good, service was amazing, quality of food and service is good.
Ambiance is good too.
Only thing is that u have to have a good eye to spot a parking spot
I enjoyed my Saturday brunch here! They have bottomless mimosas and the best 3-course brunch menu. Super accessible as the restaurant is all on the ground floor. The wait staff was attentive and helpful! Will definitely come back.
The Grill was truly a great experience. Very attentive staff, the food was superbly tasty. I will definitely be visiting again.
Absolutely delicious food and drinks. Service was quick and waiters were very respectful, efficient, and attentive. Would highly recommend the paella and the steak. Desserts were amazing as well! Could not be happier with my dining experience
Good neighborhood place. Pleasant outdoor seating. Nice staff. Food was fine but not distinguished & less exciting than I expected from Brazil. Great deal during Restaurant Week.
Great value food!
We went to the Grill from Ipanema for restaurant week and our experience was outstanding. The service was great and the food was excellent. The portion sizes were also very generous. Both my boyfriend and I had leftovers, and my boyfriend rarely takes food home from restaurants. I got the paella which was delicious. Dessert was outstanding as well!
Traditional Brazilian food, it doesn’t get any better than this! The atmosphere is so nice and pleasant and the staff members are wonderful! Not one bad thing to say.
Great service, exceptional food. They were very flexible with our reservation.
Food and drinks were outstanding! Definitely will come back soon.
Excellent food and service. Define toy worth a repeat visit
From the start the team was very professional and super nice! From the server to the bussboy server was excellent. The food had great taste and was an explosion of flavor in our mouths!!!
Definitely recommend if you’re coming for a date or with friends.
They also say the brunch deals are very good, so soon we will be back.
The brunch menu at this place is just dangerous to any plans of doing anything else but enjoying the best of life for the rest of your day.
My date and I had Sunday brunch at the Grill from Ipanema on 19 July. We sat outside at the socially distanced and shady tables out front. All the waitstaff were very courteous and wore facemasks. Both of us ordered from the 3-course brunch menu. I ordered the Sopa de Feijao as the appetizer, Feijoada as the main, and the fried banana for dessert. I was a little disappointed by the feijoada. While the chunks of meat and sausage in the stew were very generous, I found the stew rather bland, particularly when paired with the plain white rice and collard greens (although the orange slices tasted great as a accompaniment). The appetizer and dessert were excellent. Beverage-wise, we both really enjoyed the mimosas. I also ordered a caipirinha separately and it was also wonderful -- it really hit the spot on a brutally hot day!
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit a week ago that we had to return! From the fancy fresh salad with delightful homemade mustard dressing, to their signature star dish Moqueca de Peixe a Baiana (Bahia-style Grouper Stew), to the hearty Feijoada (amped up by the fresh orange supremes and special request of Malagueta chili oil), to the perfectly caramelized ripe Fried Banana with homemade Whipped Cream, we thoroughly enjoyed every flavorful and sour-warming bite! The 3-course $22.95 champagne brunch is a terrific deal of exemplary Brazilian cuisine and flavor-packed ample portions! Thank you, Chef Alcy de Souza, General Manager Raquel, and TGFI Team for making brunch such a joy!
It was our first dining out experience since the lockdown in DC and we sat at the patio area where there were plenty of spaces between tables. We felt comfortable and absolutely loved their food. The Brazillian paella is a must!
Great service and delicious food. It felt safe eating out doors.
What a triumphant return from lockdowns to one of our perennial favorite brunch spots, which has become better than ever! The Moqueca de Peixe a Baiana and Passaro Preto (aka the best fried chicken in the Western hemisphere) were impeccable, exploding with flavors, and piping hot to enjoy (indoors, well-spaced apart tables) on the hot afternoon. The Fried Banana with Homemade Whipped Cream was absolutely amazing, perfectly ripe and caramelized--the perfection of simplicity and letting the (even common) ingredients shine! The mood was chill and relaxing with General Manager Raquel making us feel right at home--albeit a far more tropical vibe than ours--with her warmth and generous hospitality! We will return very soon!
The service was amazing at the bar and at our table. We wanted to try various items to get a feel for the food so we did small tapas style plates. The chicken croquettes were delicious, herby and moist. Everything else sort of fell a little flat. The carne de sol was really bland and lacked salt but the yucca was good, the chicken was moist, but sort of tasted like fish (maybe the oil it was fried in?), and the mixta grill was also just okay. It would have been nice to have different sauce options as all of the tapas came with the same sauce. We had the cheesecake for dessert and that was actually really good. Kind of like a ricotta flan with yummy passion fruit. Again, can’t beat the service - really nice family owned place... just wish the food was little more flavorful!
Food was good, atmosphere was good; service was horrible
We love this restaurant! Amazing Brazilian food and great service! We will come back for sure!
All of our food was excellent and brought back a lot of good memories of my years in Brazil. The staff was so friendly. They sang to our friend who was having a birthday and brought her a pudim de leite (like flan). And since they had made extra rice pudding, they brought us some for free. How kind is that? I already recommended the restaurant to two people.
This was my first time dining at The Grill from Ipanema and I am just sorry I didn't do so sooner. We shared a great shrimp broschette appetizer and the feijoada croquettes were just so yummy. My mom, dad and I each got an entree and every one of them was absolutely delicious - the shrimp stew, the shrimp in tomato sauce with a cream cheese on top and the feijoada. You can tell the kitchen takes their time to develop the flavors in their sauces/stews. Can't wait to go back.
We had the 3-course special for Valentines Day and the food was excellent. The Brazilian dishes are very tasty with lots of flavors. Included in the special was a cocktail which I would recommended for anyone that goes. The only negative was that our table was a plastic table and we waited a long time for our deserts.
It was my first time eating Brazilian food in DC , it was so delicious!
Courteous staff gave a good insight into Brazilian cuisine. Food was excellent. All in all a very good experience
Food was amazingly delicious. The moqueca de peixe was to die for.
Overall I was not impressed. I’ve had much better Brazilian food.
We went during restaurant week and we ordered from the restaurant week menu. Everything was very good as were the cocktails!
Not only was the food exceptional, but so is the customer service. The ambiance is cozy and homey. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Always good and always fun! One of my family’s favorite restaurants!
Ordered the Bobo de Camarao. With my eyes closed, I could have been back in Salvador da Bahia. Wonderful food!
Awesome drinks and food!
Delicious food, attentive service, phenomenal experience.
Authentic Brazilian food and drinks served with a big smile and great friendly attitude.
My kids and I went to TGFI after visiting ZooLights. I hadn’t been there for several years, and it did not disappoint. The feijoada was soothing and the tapas quite tasty. Curiously, there were only a few other diners at 7:30 on a Saturday evening. It’s a very good little neighborhood restaurant and I hope they stay there.
Four of us had a very nice meal in a quiet setting, with very friendly service, prior to seeing a play in Adams Morgan.
This is a cute little restaurant, however the only thing that was actually tasty out of my entire meal was the appetizers (fried yuca and yuca stuffed with cheese). Also, service was a little rushed even though the restaurant was empty.
