The Grill by Arfeen, Smith & Payne
Great Evening with friends and family celebrating a birthday
I’m a 42 year old grown man who frequently dines here typically on a first or second date type thing. I always dress up and ask my dates to do the same even though there is no dress code. I just so happen to wear a hat all day every day. The only place I don’t wear my cap is in God’s house on Sunday. My twenty something year old server told me to take my hat off even though I’ve been there dozens of times wearing the exact same hat. When I refused to take it off she began lecturing me on how it’s disrespectful to wear a hat in their restaurant. I’ve forgotten more about respect than that young lady has ever known. If I’m going to drop $200 on dinner and tip at least 15% I’m going to do it how I feel comfortable doing it. That’s going to be with a hat on, and I don’t care if Pope Francis doesn’t like it.
Steaks were delicious, best wedge salad I have ever eaten, and superb coffee, fresh and HOT, as it should be.
Brock was our server and very attentive.
Mojito was fair.
My husband and I were celebrating his birthday, we will definitely return.
Thoroughly enjoyed everything about our dinner. Loved that the chef came out not once but twice during our meal. Was our first visit and won’t be our last.
We started with cups of soup, wife ordered the drunken gumbo which I ended up eating because of the enormous amount of rice. Flavor was fine but the crab claw that was still in the shell was not a good sign. I ordered the mushroom soup which was excellent and the wife also enjoyed. Wife had the 6 ounce filet, was cooked more to the rare then the medium-rare requested. The steak knife was nothing more than a sharp butter knife and she had to saw through the steak. A good non-serated knife would have been better as she stated the steak was fairly tender.
I ordered the Sea Bass which was just OK for a $30 entree. They stated they had just updated the wine menu so we ordered the BV Tapistry which listed for $65. The bill showed we were charged $75 which they corrected once questioned. Point being we should have been charged what they listed it for.
All in all very disappointing white table cloth experience, but we are used to it here in Beaumont.
The service was impeccable, the server was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The drinks were fantastic, especially the “perfect” margarita. It was hands down the best margarita I have had, and I have had quite a few. The mushroom soup was exquisite, and the portions on it were generous. The surf&turf blackened steak was again impeccable. Wonderful flavors, and cooked to perfection. In the past I have had their lamb rack and it was to die for. Overall, the atmosphere was elegant and relaxing, the food was pricey, but you get what you pay for. I definitely plan on coming back.
The food was very good. The service was even better. We celebrated our anniversary and the crew was very attentive. They brought us a desert to celebrate. Great experience.
Anniversary dinner. Service was acceptable but tried to hurry us along. Steak was good but the sides are disappointing. Crab cakes were the highlight. The coconut pie was also unique and good.
Our Server was Brock, and he was exceptional, attentive, and personable. A great experience
This was my husband and my first visit to The Grill and we definitely be returning! Our server, Eddie, was polite and knowledgeable! We started with the Blackened Ahi Tuna and for the main course we had the Lamb and Risotto. Both were amazing! The meals were about 40 each...well worth it for the quality and environment!
Understaffed. Waiter was good but had to wait too many tables at one time. Not really fair to him. Food quality was very good. Guitar player was on break longer than he played while we were there.
We’re out of several selections at 7:30 on a Friday.
Lamb was very good. Steaks were not bad, just average.
I made a reservation for myself and some friends before a black-tie event. We came for drinks and appetizers and the service and food were both incredible! Our server was so attentive and professional. He came to check on us just the right amount of times and also made some great recommendations for us. We had a wonderful time.
I had the seafood pasta and it was just ok, not great. I was a little disappointed actually. My wife had Parmesan crusted sea bass that was really good. The service was good and our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. The ambiance was basically ruined by the waitstaff having endless conversation with tables on either side of ours. An individual in blue jeans and a shirt that I assume was the manager asked if everything was ok. I was expecting to pay a premium price for dinner at this restaurant but when the bill came I was surprised at just how premium it was. I’m not too sure we received food, service and ambiance equal to the tab. Anyway, we did enjoy it somewhat. Probably won’t be going back.
Made online reservations very easily, was immediately seated at a nice table when I arrived, the wait staff was very friendly. Food delicious, as always!
Service and food was excellent, ambiance, cleanliness, attention to detail also excellent.
This was the PERFECT place for my husband and I to celebrate our 10 year Anniversary! The service was AMAZING and so friendly!! The food was beyond expectations!! We highly recommend this restaurant!!
My family had a wonderful time at the grill. It was wonderful to eat there with my family.
Excellent dining experience. Noise level and atmosphere was great for conversation and the food and service was exceptional. I look forward to my next opportunity.
I noticed a change in management and staff. Service was good but the level of professionalism has suffered due to the change.
Valentines
This was my first experience actually eating here. The service was amazing! Everyone had a smile on their face and it was very quiet. My steak was bit hard to cut through (med rare, but it came out a bit rarer). It was still full of flavor though! 100% better than Suga’s. I will definitely be back!
Food is delicious though terribly over-priced! $39 Risotto was worth every bit of $25. Otherwise this restaurant is stuffy, stodgy and arrogant with a staff you behaved as though they are entitled. Much better options in the Beaumont area.
The restaurant is very nice but the food was disappointing. I had seafood pasta and it was very fishy tasting, not in a good way. Also when I asked for a refill of coffee I was charged again. Never have I been charged for a refill on coffee anywhere .
Everything was very nice. I ordered the Sea Bass and it wasn’t the best, but the mushroom soup was excellent.
We have been going here for 7yrs on our anniversary. We always have such a lovely time! This time not so much there was a family with several children whom were running around, singing and dancing next to our romantic dinner the children were all over the dining area, not a happy anniversary for my wife! Spent almost $200 to feel like we were at Denny's.
We just moved to Beaumont from Baton Rouge. This being the only upscale restaurant in Beaumont, we wanted to try it out. We were very disappointed. However the mushroom soup was delicious. But the dishes were not. We had the blackened fish entree. My husband thought the fish was old because it was tough. The sauce on top of the dish was bland, no flavor, as were the Brussels sprouts. The best thing on the entree was the rice. We will never go there again. I guess we will have to go to Houston for an upscale restaurant.
Food and wine has just degraded.
It took 45 minutes to get drinks delivered to the table and after an hour and 15 minutes the waiter brought the meals for the other 3 in the party but forgot to place my meal order. Probably won’t be going back for awhile.
The rock fish was WAY too fishy. Loved the gumbo and mushroom soup though!
We stopped in on our way back home and the experience was great.
My wife and I have been twice and both times the food was amazing, the staff is knowledgeable about the food and the drinks. I would highly recommend The Grill for date night!
The food and atmosphere were great. Loved the patio but it would be much more enjoyable if there was no smoking allowed in the patio area. We went there to enjoy dining on the patio, but had to move inside due to the cigarette smoke.
Never dissapoints! Food, atmosphere and service are top notch...♥️
Good food, Great Ambiance. Inattentive service. I like The Grill, and I will return. But, last evening's experience was only OKAY.
The food and service were really wonderful, but the bartender truly messed up on the cocktails...stick with the wine list.
My husband and I celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary with my best friend of 39 years. We met at 5:30 and the restaurant was very nice and quiet, perfect for catching up. The waitstaff was attentive and courteous. The food was excellent and drinks were also very good. We certainly hope to return one day. Thanks to all the staff for making our celebration one that we will remember.

The food, service and atmosphere were awesome. We will definitely be back!
Malcolm was a perfect waiter for tonite and as always food was a hit
Excellent food and best waiter I've ever seen in my life! This guy could be the maitre d' for any of the finest restaurants in the world. I would come to The Grill for the mushroom soup ALONE. Best dish of any kind I have ever tasted. Actually, everything I have had there is outstanding!
Only issues were:
1) not enough wait staff to go around (he appeared to be the only waiter for the inside section of the restaurant the night we were there. He gave each table lots of attention when he was explaining the menu and any other time he was at their table - but that did not leave enough time for him to be available for all his tables), and
2) we ordered a medium ribeye and it was quite rare and had to be sent back for more time on the fire ...
