The Grill by Arfeen, Smith & Payne
Excellent food and best waiter I've ever seen in my life! This guy could be the maitre d' for any of the finest restaurants in the world. I would come to The Grill for the mushroom soup ALONE. Best dish of any kind I have ever tasted. Actually, everything I have had there is outstanding!
Only issues were:
1) not enough wait staff to go around (he appeared to be the only waiter for the inside section of the restaurant the night we were there. He gave each table lots of attention when he was explaining the menu and any other time he was at their table - but that did not leave enough time for him to be available for all his tables), and
2) we ordered a medium ribeye and it was quite rare and had to be sent back for more time on the fire ...
We have visited this restaurant several times in the past few years. My husband and I were very disappointed in our main course. In my opinion this restaurants’ cuisine and atmosphere has deteriorated. There are many other eateries in Beaumont to choose from. Better food for the price.
This was our second time and the two experiences are night and day. This time the food was spot on, the service was solid, and they added two very good beers (Chimay red label and Duvel).
I order the Twin Tournedos (turns out you can get a triple and have all three sauces)....do that.
My wife ordered the seafood risotto. She dug it, and me never having had it (Risotto) before found it good.
Creme Brule for desert.
Bangkok shrimp for starter.
*if the staff reads this.....seriously consider adding De Garre (750ml) and Rocheforte 10, 8 and 6 to the menu and also consider the full Chimay line (red, blue and white) in the 750ml bottles as an option. FWIW...the De Garre and the 10 are show stopper beers.
Food was excellent, but the service was slow and inattentive, especially for the price. Overall, a bit of a disappointment.
Probably Beaumont’s best
Good bar and wine
Quiet enough for conversation
Entree was good, sides seemed like they were an after thought. Nice atmosphere but not worth the money, to me.
Wine and appetizers were yummy. The seafood risotto was good but had some bed fish in it. They made it right and the rest of the meal was great. Dessert was the best. All of that said the service was awesome! We could not have had better. We will be back.
We went for my wife's birthday. The atmosphere is nice, quiet and subdued. We were seated immediately and our server arrived promptly after. Our evening there was very nice.
Our drinks arrived, but my wife was unimpressed with her French 77, it was too heavy on the lemon juice making it undrinkable. The drink was removed from our bill without issue. Our crab cake starter was good, I would have preferred them to be slightly warmer, but the serving temp was good. Our main course arrived shortly after the starter was removed, so the pacing of the meal was nice. I had the Blackened Rock fish Ponchatrain. The dish was good, I would order it again. My wife ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, she stated it was good. Both of us had the same comment about our respective dishes. They lacked enough seasoning to be truly good dishes with really good character. I did have to add salt to kine, but only a slight bit, my wife did not. Overall, the food was good, but could have been better with a more daring use of seasoning and a bit more imagination. The experience we had was positive, the food was good but not necessarily noteworthy, the beer selection is limited and predictable. I would recommend this restaurant to others. We will be returning, especially considering the lack of fine dining in the area, it is nice to have a place where adults can go for a quiet evening out that is not a chain or filled with noise.
If the staff reads this, I would challenge you to push some boundaries on what you think people will and won't eat, be more adventurous in your menu. I accept that the local population is limited in what they consider good food, dont let that stop you from. Hallenging them. Don't be afraid to season the dishes a bit more, I understand delicate flavoring and subtlety but too light of a hand is just as bad as too heavy of a hand on seasoning. Regardless, thank you for a pleasant evening out.
Food and service was great and portions big. very impressed. Thank you.
Liked the restaurant, the first two bottles of wine that I ordered were out of, the Halibut special was previously frozen, the server was very helpful
It was great
The restaurant was great. First time there. No other restaurant in Beaumont area that compare to this one. Great place!!
Everything was perfect. Specialty appetizers were excellent as well as dining menu and wine choices. Highly recommend for any occasion.
Consistently excellent. SO glad this restaurant is in Beaumont.
