Unfortunately this establishment has consistently underperformed in most areas for the last few years. The latest dining experience is our last. I’m having a hard time understanding why reservations need to be made when applying a fast casual dining model. Order at the makeshift window, take a number and sit or take to go. Very odd. Aside from that, the black bean burger was mushy. If I were to order food at a sports park and go sit to eat, it would have felt the same but be a lot cheaper. Sorry Wente, is this the best you can do? Other restaurants seem to manage COVID so much better and keep a remarkable experience intact.
Clearly the Grill at Wente is nowhere ready to reopen for lunch service. If you are looking for a grab and go after a round of golf, then ok...but we had to place our order at a walk up window, it was delivered in a paper to go box, and the food was over-priced and substandard at best. Perhaps waiting until they have full use of the kitchen before a reopening would be advised.
We are new Wente wine club members and we were coming from San Jose to pick up our fall shipment, we thought we’d make a day of it and made reservations for lunch at the Grill. Imagine our surprise to find out that the Grill was actually a walk-up, cafeteria-style eating establishment (I can’t really call it a restaurant..). It was disappointing.
The table next to us was a group of ladies celebrating a birthday and we heard them express their surprise/disappointment as well.
Sadly, our understanding is that the actual restaurant they used to have on-site will not be reopening even after COVID. It is a beautiful venue but there are no other dining options nearby, so it’s very unfortunate not to have that as an option for patrons.
Burgers and Tacos were excellent. Service was excellent. Highly recommend this place before or after a round of golf!
Nice to have them open again. Good distancing, food is good if a bit pricey. Patio by 18th green.
Covid restrictions notwithstanding, a restaurant with "Wente" in it's name ought to serve up better quality food and wine. Chicken tacos and Black bean burger were tasteless to say the least. Snacks sold were chips and trail mix! Only two low end varieties of wine. Disappointing.
Most other restaurants in Livermore have better quality food.
We understood the Covid restrictions would make an impact but not on the menu selection or food quality. Only six items on the menu. We were there in the middle of lunch so it wasn’t that some items were sold out. There was no french fries, no bacon and most of the beers on the posted menu were not available. So with our two ordered cheese burgers one had no cheese. The buns were hard and tasteless. We got a bag of chips (instead of the fries we wanted) there were about 10 chips in each bag. The burgers were dry and cold. Our bill for 2-glasses of wine, 2-glasses of beer, 2-lousy burgers and 2-bags of chips was $60! Used to love the grille but if this represents the post-covid food quality and value we will pass. Going to Rusty’s with our business next.
We really enjoyed it..the food was delicious....it was a beautiful day and we sat outdoors...We will definitely be back...
Very nice , lunch with friends. Food was fine and service was friendly
Love the location, the patio dining view was exemplary. The service could have been alittle bit better , had to continually ask for refills on water, and wine, not very attentive. ( I used to be a server, so I know the trade). Food for value was ok, alittle dissapointed in quality of salad. But was an enjoyable experience overall.
We enjoyed our lunch and sitting outside although, it was a bit cold. We shared the artichoke dip, which was delicious! My friend had the fried chicken sandwich and fries and I had the tuna melt with coleslaw. We over ordered for sure because the artichoke dip was very rich. Overall, all the food was tasty! We each had a Bloody Mary which were spicy and very good. The highlight was our waitress. Great personality and attentive. Will go back.
Food was delicious even though limited. Setting fabulous.
We will miss the Entertainment Club perks. With those perks, it is a much better value.
I took a friend there for her B.Day lunch as I always rave about the 1883 burger so she wanted to try one. It did not disappoint - she thought it was soooo delicious!! Our server, Monica, was very pleasant, attentive and cordial and provided excellent service! My friend and I stayed quite a while so when Monica ended her shift, another server who I had the pleasure of her service in the past (JanAnn) took over and made sure we were still o.k., checking in from time to time. We couldn't have asked for a better experience - it was ever-so-delightful!!
Great place to stop for a nice lunch. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside and enjoyed lunch while watching the golfers go by.
Wonderful place for outdoor seating on a good weather day. Good food and relaxing atmosphere.
Our group had a great reunion and a very good lunch. Everyone was very nice and did not rush us out.
Relaxing, beautiful view. Great place for visitors.
Best friend in town from Hong Kong. They loved the place. We had an awesome time!
We celebrated our friend's birthday on the deck at the Grill. Our service was perfect. Very accommodating - we asked to move to a more shaded table and this was done immediately. The lunch was very good. Our server helped us with the birthday cake we brought. Lovely afternoon!
Location is fantastic. Service and food is very good overall.
Parking was easy and very convenient.
New menu that is for sharing. Outstanding shrimp and chicken dish. Enjoyed their Chardonnay
I had a reservation but due to traffic I was unable to keep the arranged time. I called the restaurant and they were happy to accommodate our circumstances. We started our first time dining there on a good note. The food and services was excellent. I would eat there again.
We were able to have a group work and eat with no disruptions and enjoy a wonderful view.
I made reservation through Open Table and mentioned it was a Birthday dinner. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful view. We ordered the steak which the waiter said was the best thing on the menu. Unfortunately it was smothered in a heavy sauce with a really strong flavor that totally overwhelmed the taste of the meat, although the salad, veggies and potatoes were fine. However the wine was totally overpriced. Practically all of their wines were over $20 a glass and many of them were up to $30 or more. There were hardly any wines at a reasonable price for those of us who prefer to have choices in the $10-15 range. The wines were okay but not worth those prices. Also, they never acknowledged this was a birthday dinner.
Birthday lunch with the girls
Good is always good.
The Thai salad was really boring. They should go back to their Chinese chicken salad.
Nice outdoor location for a casual lunch, although both lunches (SW salad, mini quesadillas) both had a bit too much spiciness for our taste. Great wine selection tho.
Very disappointed in the quality of the food -extremely salty, salad limp and brown. Pricing high for food not even up to standard of a fast food place.
3 couples had lunch and split the bill 3 ways on credit cards. All of us were double charged. We contacted the restaurant and left voicemails to try and correct. None of us received a call back. All are currently disputing the duplicate charge with our credit card companies. This is on top of the And let's not forget that I don't think anyone ever heard back from the restaurant manager other than someone saying they were having a problem with their System that day and someone would call is back. Never happened. Add that to the mediocre food, less than stellar service and mediocre minus wine.
Wonderful lunch next to golf course. Great hillside view with beautiful trees !
The service was good. The food was OK, but not great. Burgers were good, the quesadilla was not. I am sorry Wente closed their main restaurant. The grill is as good as any other place in Livermore, The Grill offers a nice view of the golf course. It is a place to go after a round of golf, not for a lunch with friends.
A very beautiful place for lunch. Very relaxing.
Amazing setting and incredible food! Everything is shareable which allows you to try a few different options on the menu. You will want to try everything!
The food was decent and service was ok. We waited for a long time for each item luckily we were not in a hurry. The view was beautiful from were we sat. Probably will not come back again it's not worth the price and view.
Nestled in a quiet valley, Wente by the Golf Course has always been my favorite place to chill with a glass of wine. The restaurant is perfect for a casual or formal dining.
I thought the charge for small portions was a bit much. Good service, though.
I found that the Wente grill was way too expensive for the cuisine that was offered. Unfortunately, the cuisine was uninspired and very low brow. $24 for a hamburger that wasn't that good tasting.... If it was a good tasting hamburger I would give a better rating.
Enjoyed our lunch with out of town friends. They were impressed with the food and service and so were we. Thank you
