The Grill at The Boulders Resort Ratings and Reviews
great restaurant and atmosphere --- it was restaurant week so had the 3 course tasting menu -- food was excellent service was attentive and overall experience was casual yet elegant --- I must becoming old as I just don't get why some people don't dress appropriately for a great meal but I won't blame that not on the restaurant
The Boulders is a beautiful resort whose restaurants don't generally live up to the standard that should be expected. We ate on the terrace of The Grill, which is a wonderful venue. The food was only average...a nice rib-eye, a good ceasar salad, and a shrimp pasta that was short on shrimp. The server was very poor. Any request (rolls, a glass of ice, a take-away box) had to be repeated 2 or 3 times before he responded. Very disappointing.
We have been at this restaurant a couple times before and had a very good experience. The main courses were a disappointment. I had the fish of the day a crusted filet of sole over rice. The fish was overcooked and was not fresh , the rice however was very good. My wife and son both had the Chiopino which was somewhat better except for the sword fish which was very dry. The deserts where excellent. No complaints with the service or atmosphere.
Very Disappointing! Only one server was working .
Several tables needed busing! Our initial impression was that it was messy and unkempt!
The TV's were too loud.
The Sandwiches were mediocre! The fries were cold!
We usually like eating at the Boulders - but due to the summer season, the main restaurant was closed, so we decided to try the Grill!
We wont be back - there are too many nice hotel restaurants and grills available to Scottsdale locals in the summer!
Nice place and good service but the half roasted chicken came a undercooked to the point you could not cut it. The waiter offered free dessert but we didn't want it-I felt the dish should've been waived but they didn't do that. I wouldn't go out of your way to eat here.
We are shocked that this is a Boulder Resort restaurant. The food was not very good quality and definitely a huge disappointment. The service was terrible! The service rarely stopped by and didn't come back for over 15 minutes after dropping off a drink menu!!?? I had to ask for refills on my ice tea the rare times he did come by, because he couldn't offer like a server does .. so I barely had anything to drink the entire time. I definitely do not recommend.
It was just a perfect evening with another couple where we could catch up on each other's lives. The pace of the service was perfect and Carson was great. The Grill was pretty quiet that evening and four of us could chat very easily. The menu was very eclectic and some nice wine choices that you could enjoy without breaking the bank. We even brought a choice bottle with us that they opened for a $15 cork fee. In the end, only $200 for the 4 of us which included tip. We had a dining club membership that subtracted one entree which also helped. The food was very good and I wanted everyone to keep passing their entrees for sharing and sampling. A GREAT evening. Thank you.
My wife and I walked to the Grill for a light meal on Easter Sunday. We ordered a wedge salad and a caesar salad. The lettuce wedge was limp and beyond it's edible date. The caesar salad was lacking visible salad dressing. We are continually disappointed in the Grill performance.
We went for dinner on a Thursday evening at 7:15. Turned out to be a very smart choice of both day and time. Our arrival, about an hour after sunset, coincided with the departure of several groups of golfers who had finished their rounds and stayed on for drinks and dinner. Late arrival meant the crowd had thinned and the noise level dissipated. More importantly, on Thursday nights The Grill offers a special Fried Chicken Dinner. It is exceptional. Our server, Carson, advised that it is the best item on the menu, and we completely agree. We split a Wedge Salad to start, each had a 9 oz. glass of Reisling, and tried our best, but couldn't clean our plates. The chicken was perfectly fired with a crispy crust that didn't overwhelm the chicken. Mashed potaoes were light and fluffy, with an ample serving of gravy. And the biscuits were exactly what you want with chicken and mashed potatoes.
Of the six meals me ate on the Boulders property, this one was, hands down, the best.
Christmas dinner was supposed to be relaxing, quiet and comfortable. At The Grill, we found that to be true. Good service, good food prepared well (fish andchips, roasted veggie bowl), nothing to take your breath away. Not inexpensive. I would go back, perhaps for lunch, this restaurant is attached to the golf course.
Food was just ok, listened to customer next us critic the chef all night. Very pretentious. Temperature of the restaurant was ridiculously hot. Staff was very accommodating, probably, why it was so damn hot, as the median age appeared to be about 75 year old.
Very disappointing. Even though the restaurant was not very full, they seated a large, noisy group right next to us. My wife ordered a kale salad and added ahi tuna, which was just awful. My steak was fine, nothing exceptional. We like Palo Verde in the same resort, thought we would try the Grill. We'll never make that mistake again.
I ordered the ahi tuna sandwich and asked that it not be raw.
It came unexpectedly fast and the tuna was very plentiful, although the thin slices were a bit dry and that may be due from my asking that it not be served "raw" as is the norm.
Our server was very accommodating and efficient.
The Boulders is a fun place to bring out of town friends and the Grill a great place to enjoy quiet lunch.
