The Grill at Hacienda Del Sol Ratings and Reviews
Brunch at the Grill never fails to please all of my taste buds! Succulent shrimps, flavorful and melt in your mouth grilled chuck steak, omelette bar, wide range of salads...not just iceberg lettuce, hot entrees like goulash, sushi, desserts that you will succumb to even if you’re not a dessert person (namely me!) and of course the never ending blood orange mimosas or bloody mary’s. Service is excellent and the wait is never long even if you do not have a reservation. The best thing is the ambiance of leisurely dining with friends ala European style.
Sensational food and very pleasant, friendly, attentive staff. The view provides the icing on the cake.
The staff appear to be trained to find something worth praising and compliment you on it. It provides a little extra pleasure to an already pleasant evening.
I have been a big fan of Hacienda del Sol for many years. This was my first time back since the EXPANSION/remodel. The quality of everything has gone down to 3 star except the beautiful Sonoran Desert surrounds and the 360 degree view of the mountains and the city lights are still 5Star in my book.
We arrived and made our way thru a drunken wedding party to the host/hostess stand. No one was there so we went to the bar to order a cocktail. Drink menus were brought and snacks laid out, but no one took our order as the bar staff seemed preoccupied with talking to each other behind the bar even after we tried to order.
Finally a hostess approached us and asked if we had a reservation, which we did, so we were seated with not a word from the bar staff as we left to be seated. Our waitress (Juno) was very knowledgeable and was exceptional considering what I would consider a not too great experience. I don't mind price as long as I feel it is worth the value, however at The Grill I feel there can be some improvements.
The meal was not hot (lamb chops) nor were the other sides, first cocktail was mixed incorrectly and the food runners did not get our wait staffs attention to remedy. I gave 3 stars because Juno made the best of an unspectacular dining experience.
Maybe on my next anniversary I will have a more pleasant experience. We didn't tell them as we just wanted to enjoy ourselves with a nice unencumbered evening enjoying 27 great years. We expect ups and downs in life and maybe they had an off night, but I was really surprised! BTW-My wife thankfully knew I had tried to plan a thoughtful evening.
I've gone to Hacienda Del Sol for special occassions for years and this was my first time back since moving away. The whole entire experience felt outdated and forced. The menu lacked a single dish that spoke to any one of our party of 6. We ordered some apps and they ranged from just ok to flat out gross. The swiss chard fondue came with an egg in the middle of it and didn't add anything to the fancy cream of mushroom soup like base. The grilled octopus had good flavors, but was a bit rubbery. The best thing on our table was the turkey sandwich and fries we ordered from the kids menu for my nephew.
I recently took my wife here for our anniversary. It was a last minute reservation after we were unable to book a reservation at Loews ventana. We were extremely glad our other plans fell through! This is hands down the best brunch service we’ve ever experienced! It was relaxed, elegant, and delicious! Very high quality varied buffet options. The prime rib was sensational. Excellent service in gorgeous surroundings. Absolutely recommend and will be returning soon!
We've been living in Green Valley for about 9 years and we have decided it's about time to venture out to some new restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Hacienda del Sol. We were celebrating our anniversary. The wine and menu selection was very good. I had salmon and my husband had the veal chop, we both ordered a side and a salad. That was a lot of food but it was excellent. In between courses we had some 'tastings' too. And the dessert (the carrot medley ) was perfect for sharing. We definitely will be back. And we have been told the Sunday Brunch is awesome. Thank you for making our Anniversary a special date night.
We were seated at the brightest lit table in the restaurant, how do we know that????!!! The waiter told us it was because we mentioned it as we tried to adjust the seats and moved close to the window ! When he sat us there, there were 3 other tables open so it wasn't like it was the only table open at the time.
We ordered drinks that came to us in tall tumblers filled with mostly mix. Then my Husbands appetizer was over cooked it was a shrimp appetizer with some goo sauce, it was awful. My Caesar salad was good, probably the best thing we ate all night.
We had our dinner served 8 minutes before we got our wine, so we sat and waited till it got there. Lamb was over cooked!! I couldn't even eat the outside of it, it was burnt. I ordered it medium rare!!!No apologies were given. My husband ordered the chicken with mole' sauce and the chicken breast was way over cooked,to dry to eat. My husband finally complained and the manager apologized and asked if he wanted something else,,, it already took way to long to get our entrees, he said no!!!, so I spoke out and asked to have more mole'sauce and she brought us maybe 2 teaspoons full of it. Definitely not enough! Our Waiter never asked us through out the whole night how our meal was. He was so pretentious and turned most of his attention to the table behind us. It had 7 people at it.. yeah, more money for him. We then ordered dessert since it was my husbands BIRTHDAY hoping it was going to be better than what we had!! It was HORRIBLE and that did it, ohh no wait , the waiter said he took my husbands dessert off the bill. It would have been a nice jester but he said with a unbelievable attitude.
We WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK! This was our 4th time there and thought we were going to have a special night together it wasn't! No thanks to Hacienda Del Sol!
We were there to celebrate my birthday. We've never been to their Grill and thought we would give it a try. The food was wonderful, the service was top notch and the attention to detail was beyond reproach. Would eagerly recommend he Grill for anyone looking for superb food.
This is our favorite place for dinner in Tucson. Wonderful view, great ambiance, attentive service and a thoughtful and creative menu that is sure to satisfy everyone in your party. The lamb chops are the best we have had anywhere. The filet and strip are superb. The grilled octopus is tender and flavorful. Desserts are varied and delicious. Here's a view from our previous visit in August.
It was perfect. Val was our waitress and was absolutely awesome. She was extremely knowledgeable regarding the menu options and very attentive to our dining experience. The food was magnificent. The offerings of the fall menu were a unique blend of all the flavors we enjoy in the fall. Spinach, butternut squash, corn, sweet potato, lamb, etc. and very tasty. John, the wine director, selected the most wonderful Cabernet blend to pair with our meal. And because we weren’t really ready to leave on this beautiful day, our experience was topped off with a grand tour of the facility (it’s a restaurant and historic hotel) given by Patrick. This was just lunch. I wish I had time to come back for dinner!!! Hacienda del Sol was fantastic and fabulous and I highly recommend it.
P.S. the views from this restaurant are spectacular!!!!
There were six of us and we were pleased to have our request for a round table fulfilled by a very nice table with a window and view. THANK YOU! Our group has brunch here every three months and we are rarely disappointed. The biggest disappointment as far as the food this time was the ceviche which is usually wonderfully spicy and full of seafood. Not this time...it was bland tasting with only shrimp which you had to search for. Our other disappointment was the waiter service. Our waiter seemed totally disinterested in waiting on us. We had to repeatedly ask for refills of water and mimosas. When he served the coffee a couple of us only got half a cup and there was only one container of sugar/sweetener and two small pitchers of cream on the table for six people. We have always had very good service in the past and felt that yesterday was a let down in that regard. Other than our waiter, the staff was cheerful, helpful and welcoming, as always. We will definitely return and hope for better service and better ceviche next time!
Th location is superb. It's tucked away so the only people you see are fellow diners or people staying at the resort. There was a complimentary valet service and the walk to the restaurant was through a beautiful garden. Our server, Preston, was great an very knowledgeable about the menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal and continued to praise the meal as we were leaving. We're we're also greeted on our way out and they had our car waiting for us. One our way to the car we were greeted by by Bones. He gave us a brief history of the resort which allowed enough time for the valet service to bring the car around. It was a fantastic experience.
The Grill at Hacienda del Sol is our favorite Tucson restaurant. It's always our go-to location for special events and celebrations, and it lived up to expectations when I surprised one of my closest friends with a 70th birthday/moving celebration dinner there. The three of us had a grand time, the service was attentive, gracious and friendly, and the food—as always—was unique and exquisite. The Madeira mushrooms were rich, and the soft shell crabs were wonderfully seasoned and succulent. The server offered a great wine selection for my delicious sea bream dish, and another server happily made a fresh pot of hot coffee for the birthday girl, after she enjoyed her risotto. One of my favorite things about The Grill is the ambiance, setting, and views, and my friends were enchanted. The spectacular sunset and city lights added to the evening. We didn't want to leave! The only drawback that night was the table of five businessmen who ramped up the volume in the room to a point that made it difficult to hear someone at your own table, but it wasn't enough of a deterrent to mar the experience.
