Drinks and appetizers were fair but the main dishes were very disappointing. One salmon dish was way over cooked and the other was completely undercooked. The filet was over done as well. This is a fairly expensive place so one would expect better. Not a great way to end our weekend in Tucson. Had much better food at places in town that were at lower price points.
Birthday celebration for niece.
I was disappointed in the entree sides especially the vegetables that really were flavorless compared with what I had eaten in the past at this restaurant. Each of us liked our entree and the service was outstanding.
Disappointed. We ordered the strip steak (3 of 4 of us). We received 4 slices about 1 inch wide (barely 1/2 of a strip steak).
Steak should be served unsliced. It was not mentioned on the menu.
The quality of the meat was not great as it was not tender and actually tough.
The fingerling garnish were also over cooked.
The total check for 4 was 380.00. For this price I would expect a much higher quality.
For the price the food did not meet our expectations. The lobster fettuccine was rather bland and the seared salmon was ok. The shrimp cocktail was excellent (chilled perfectly), but not enough cocktail sauce. The avocado dabs did nothing.
I would have been perfect if I were part of the one %, I don't mind spending money for good food and service. Just seemed a little over the top with the "My Pleasure" response to everything. Corny really. Food was excellent, clean, beautiful, etc. We will go back for sure just hope its not so sterile.
EVERYTHING WAS FINE BUT IT WAS WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.
A great dining experience for a special evening or celebration!
Great views, great food, outstanding young man Gordon for service. Everyone friendly. Quiet atmosphere remembered event celebration.
I usually LOVE Hacienda del Sol at The Grill. We were a party of nine, celebrating my Dad's 90th birthday. On a high note, our service staff, wait staff and help staff were excellent.
We had a nice table although the restaurant was virtually empty and I was unclear why we did not have a really lovely table with a view. Three of us ordered rack of lamb and we each thought it was the worse lamb experienced in an upscale restaurant. So, despite the food, because we love Hacienda del Sol, we will return. Hopefully, next time, the food will be its usual high standard of excellence.
Great service wonderful views
My husband and I both had the shrimp cocktail that had no taste. Then we had the artichoke chowder that was bland. For his main course he had the Kurobuta Pork Chops and that was very good. I had the House Made Lobster Fettuccine and you could not find anything but tiny lobster parts plus it had very little flavor. Very surprised had dined there before and enjoyed.
Absolutely fabulous dinner, best dinner in Tucson... anywhere. The service, food, ambiance all perfect!
The Grill at Hacienda Del Sol continues to be one of our favorite restaurants! Even with the pandemic, it has maintained its standards. Couple that with great service from Angelo, and you have a real winner! Highly recommended!
Server was very pleasant, but dinner service was slow.
One of my favorite restaurants in the US. Main room facing Catalina Mountains around sunset is a must!
We have dinner here frequently and it's always excellent. Love the atmosphere, food is some of the very best in Tucson, service is consistently good.
Wonderful place. Food, service and ambiance top-notch.
Piano player playing background music too.
Loved our meals.
We’d eaten both lunch and dinner on patio there on previous visits to Tucson. Inside beautiful and tasteful.
We’ll definitely return.
We asked for a table by the window. Told we would get one but did not. Food was not as good as in the past. Marked noise level higher as we were next to a table with several small children and one infant.
So disappointed! The service was awful
The steak was under cooked
The lobster fettuccine had zero flavor. I don’t even think it was lobster. Charged us for the birthday dessert after it took forever to get the steak properly cooked.
First time at this property.
What a wonderful dining experience.
The service was professional yet friendly, perfectly timed, and not intrusive.
All the staff members we encountered: front desk, bar, and dining room, were helpful and informative.
The meals were perfectly prepared and presented, certainly a meal to remember. The ambience was amazing, comfortable seating, with great views and most important, quiet.
Thank you for a wonderful evening.
We will return.
We have been to this restaurant many times and have always had great service and food. I had made our reservations two weeks in advance and had requested a window table with a view of the mountains. We arrived 10 minutes early and the hostess at first couldn't find our reservation and then when she found it told us we needed to wait outside until our reservation time. We assumed that the restaurant was full but when she came to show us to our table, we noticed the place was almost empty! She seated us at the opposite end of the room ignoring my request for a table facing the mountains. Our waiter, Angelo, did a fair job but had to come back to our table after we ordered because he forgot what we ordered. The quality of the food was not at all what we remembered - everything was very salty! When we finished our entre, Angelo told us the wine we ordered was priced incorrectly. Instead of $70/bottle it was $150/bottle. He said they would honor the lower price but when the check came the wine was listed at the higher price! When we brought it to Angelo's attention, he corrected the check. All in all it was a very disappointing experience.
Birthday dinner with completely incompetent server, Nick. I’m attentive did not ask for dessert, put the cap back on the wine after pouring. Never received birthday cremebrule as promised and charged for one dessert we had ordered instead. Also confusion on the wine we order and Nick would only give us one from a different vineyard and insisted it was the only one for 2017. We did I not specify the year only the vineyard. Very disappointing to say the least.
Wonderful food and wonderful service. I will definitely recommend to all.
We always come to the Hacienda when in the area. It’s one of our favs! We had a table of 7 and the food was very good, service very good....ambiance always fabulous. We were celebrating a birthday! It was the first time any of our guests had been to the Hacienda and they were all impressed.
Everything was OK but your prices are WAY TOO HIGH!!
The old amenities that made the difference between four stars and five stars are mostly gone. We missed them. Eg, diminished items with cappucino, no amuse bouche, one or two more. Still a great room with a great chef, though.
Always a favorite for date night or special occasions. Never disappoints!!
Wonderful meal and staff EXCEPT the hostess who told us to wait and then said she didn’t look for us when our table was ready because she couldn’t remember what we looked like. Very odd and kind of weird. I will go again! Especially now that I know the secret.🤔
It is a lovely location/building. The food was average, service excellent.
Very good meal with some inventive touches. Service is attentive, and the setting is lovely.
Menu was limited in choices compared to previous years. Food was excellent. Although made reservation, took an extra 15 minutes before seating.
Great dinner! Exceeded our expectations. We would definitely go back.
The service was excellent and the food was tasty. The view was breathtaking
Overall the experience was great. Food was amazing. I understand the place is a historical landmark, but it needs some updating without loosing its integrity. One issue to was the fact that the table we were given was not the best and I booked almost 2 months ahead. Back before Covid, there brunches were amazing too!!!
I booked my table 3 months ago and ask for a table with a view and if possible outside. We were seated in a room with no view, were given no menus and it took 15 minutes for a waiter to arrive. Many people who arrived after us were seated in places with a view and they were greeted promptly with menus. The bread that was served was okay, nothing special. Ordered the Brussel sprout salad, it had potential to be great, but it was just okay. The Brussel sprouts needed to be roasted. I ordered the pork chops, they had the potential to be great as well. Visually stunning meal, just as the pictures on the website. The potatoes that came with it were so bland. I pushed them out the way to get to the flavorful carrot puree on the plate. It was the saving grace of the meal.
This restaurant came highly recommended but I have to say I wouldn’t return. The service wasn’t great and the food was okay.
I made a reservation one week in advance, when we showed up on time, we have to wait 15 minutes, because our table was not available. Regarding Menu...Not many options at the Grill. The service was good and fast.
The Grill always has a nice ambiance but it being Easter Week, there were a lot of young people and large family groups, so the noise level was a bit higher than usual.
Our lamb was under cooked, so a little disappointing.
What a disappointment. Food was so-so (wonderful soup, rolls stale, entrees mediocre, dessert simply strange). I ate about half of each element. But the REAL disappointment was this:
We were celebrating another couple's 50th wedding anniversary, and I had called earlier (twice) in the week to order a special cake. Talked to the bakery chef personally, very detailed. Guess what? AFTER the main meal, the waiter informed me: NO CAKE. There had been a "miscommunication" in the kitchen/bakery. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN? My wife and I were furious, and free desserts just doesn't cut it.
We will never go back.
