The Grill at Hacienda Del Sol Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I went to Hacienda Del Sol for our anniversary dinner. It was our first time and I can say that we will be back! We had a fantastic table with a beautiful view. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing and each member of staff we encountered was more helpful than the last. I had the Pacific Snapper dinner and my husband had the pork chop, both were superb! Complex flavors in each dish. All in all, it was the best dining experience I have had and will make a habit of using this restaurant for special occasions in the future.
From the moment we entered we were treated exceptionally well. The wait staff was extremely professional and accommodating. We were very happy with the food and the ambiance was perfect for a romantic date. The view and restaurant grounds were beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet romantic getaway. We will most definitely return.
Three years ago was the last time I was in Tuscon and dined at Hacienda del Sol. It was very good then but this time it was great. First of all the ambiance is beautiful ;secondly the wait staff is one of the best trained and most hospitable that I have encountered and the food delicious and beautifully presented. The puree of broccolini soup with pieces of shellfish was awesome. Chicken with waffles had such unusual flavors it shouldn't be missed. The complimentary hot cocoa with cayenne pepper was unbelievably good. This place is so good that I can't wait to come back to Tuscon. If in the area, don't miss it.
The chef has apparently lost control of the kitchen and allows dishes to go out which never should. My pasta was the worst ever anywhere. It had obviously been cooked & allowed to stand for some time making it matted & rubbery. It was more like trying to eat rubber bands. The waiter said he would tell the chef - we never saw him again. A diner on another table had the same problem. Some dishes were great but you do not want to take a chance on what the chef is going to serve up. This could be a great restaurant but it is not at the moment. Eat elsewhere.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Tucson. The Sommelier was excellent and paired a glass of wine with each of our courses. Our table was in the upper level of the restaurant and away from the windows. It was fine but the lower level with the windows would have changed my rating to excellent. If you go for the sunset, be sure to request a table by a window.
We enjoyed the Sunday brunch buffet very much. Being a true Cajun myself, I really enjoyed the offering of Shrimp and Crawfish Etoufee. Everything was well presented and seasoned to perfection. We celebrated my husband's birthday a day early so we could dine at the Grill at Hacienda del Sol. And what a lovely setting and view.
The Grill at Hacienda del Sol is my new favourite place to take visitors and go when I want a first class dining experience. The property is historic and beautiful, amazing views, the staff and service were outstanding, and I was able to make special arrangements online that were accommodated. The amuse bouche, hot chocolate and truffles topped off a lovely evening. Highly recommended.
Good dinner for 4 (my wife's and a friend's wife birthdays) Ambiance, service were superior, prices were up there too. Thought the menu choices were somewhat limited but were ok for us. Food was cooked perfectly and the live piano was a nice touch. Be sure to check out the menu online prior to making a reservation
I'd love to give the Sunday Brunch a higher rating, but found parts of the experience disappointing. Our table wasn't ready for the 12:30 reservation and we were asked to "walk around a bit" and come back. The buffet selections were not replenished in a timely manner, and some of the salads and trays were never freshened. The food that was available was delicious. This was a special occassion, a birthday, and it was nice enough, but for the price charged and the reputation of the establishment, it was a disappointment.
Service was attentive. Food selection was more limited than I experienced previously. A guest in my party was served a glass that had a chip and cut herself. Manager came by immediately to apologize but we were not offered any discounts or come back incentives.
This was my third time at this beautiful oasis in the foothills of Tucson. The food is unique and very easy, melding different flavors in each appetizer and entree. The extensive wine list takes some time but there's a well versed sommelier to help you wade through the offerings. The wait staff is also very well informed, professional and friendly.
Excellent service, great food, beautiful old Tucson hacienda and grounds. My lamb "2 ways" (3 chops and a lamb sausage)was deliciously prepared and served over white bean ragout. The squash soup starter was very tasty. My husband loved the classic Caesar salad with white anchovies. He had duck "2 ways" with tender breast meat and a delicious confit. Very impressive wine list and knowledgeable wine steward. We will eat here again next time we are in Tucson. This was a very special dining experience.
