The Grill at 1450: A Global Kitchen
Our first time here, we chose several plates and all were very well prepared and delicious. The owners came to the table and chatted - very personable and friendly. The food is all prepared there and fresh. Will be back!!
After waiting 20 minutes to be greeted we were informed that it would be a 45 minute wait for our table. We had a reservation and were on time. "Well, we are very busy tonight, we can't help it." There was nowhere to wait and the noise was deafening. Their idea of a special Valentine's Day dessert was chocolate pudding (NOT mousse) or churros. After looking around at the food we decided that it was not worth the wait.
Food not good and they were no longer serving several dishes we had enjoyed on two previous occasions. It was Valentine’s Day and we drove an hour. We had a reservation but had to wait 45 minutes only to be seated right next to the band. A very disappointing experience and we will not go again.
We arrived for our reservation on time with our 4 children and were told by the hostess that it would be a 30-45 min wait still. When we asked “even with our reservation?” The hostess gave us annoyed look, rolled her eyes and said well it is Valentine’s Day and she walked away. We waited for a while but decided that if the attitude and rudeness of the hostess as well us the unpreparedness for reservations was any indication on how the service and food would be, we decided to leave. I’m disappointed because the menu sounded good but we will never go back.
We made a reservation on OpenTable for 5 people at 7PM. We made the reservation at 5 PM. When we got there they weren't aware of the reservation. We were told they last looked at the OpenTable reservations at 4:30 so they didn't see our reservation. Strike one. They didn't have any available dinner tables, but they have some high tables with high seats and we were offered one of those. We would have preferred a regular dinner table but we didn't have a choice so we took it. The server came to take our drink order. One of our group asked for ice tea. Sorry, we're out of tea, no teabags. Strike two. Drinks were served and we were ready to order our meals. First three things we ordered they didn't have. Unbelievable. Strike three. We wondered how much worse it could get. The music started and there were many couples that apparently had come just to dance. That was OK but it got a little crowded and noisy. The music was a little loud, but not too bad. All our dishes were brought out a couple at a time with the exception of one. We had to remind the server of the last item. The food was good and the portions were large for small plates, but be aware that to have a balanced meal you probably have to order two or three items. Like potatoes and vegetables and meat are generally all separate items. So to have some chicken wings with potato and a vegetable can get pretty expensive and it ends up to be way too much food for one person. So it may be a good idea to have two or three people share two or three dishes. I will try this place again to make sure the problems weren't a fluke or due to the fact that it's a relatively new place.
Brittany out server was wonderful. The Shrimp Cervesa was excellent, but be aware it's a bit spicy. The pork carnitas are so good!!
Wonderful drinks, food, staff, and live jazz music! Tapas were delicious and surprisingly generous portions. Will definitely be back soon!
Food is excellent! Tapas from around the world provides the opportunity to indulge in a wide variety of taste sensations. Highly recommend!
Loved it. Great food. Great service. Live music was great but too load. It was a shout over.
Loved the food, sat at the bar and had great service
Everything’s was delicious and live music was good, much too loud to sustain dinner conversation
An amazing addition to Melbourne's dining scene. Friendly service, amazing food, live music.
There were actually four of us and to say the least, as one put it "there isn't anything on this menu I wouldn't eat" and believe me that's saying a lot. We were there for Restaurant Week and ordered off a limited menu. We had wonderful food (sorry, no pics). Choices were Steak or Chicken (I cannot spell it) but both entrees were great as were the sides. Each couple shared. My shrimp servich appetizer was so good, salad with a wonderful home-made blue cheese dressing (better than I've had before), and dessert of flan, to die for. Yes, I recommend this restaurant. Noise level is pretty off the chart so small talk can be somewhat limited, but there was a 180 person conference next door that kept filtering into the bar area which is next to the dining area. But, not so much noise as to ruin the night. Also, we were early enough to have the BOGO half off Mojitos and they were great too. Really, a very good meal and a lovely night,
Great place, great food, great friendly owner. What more can you ask for??
Outstanding, highly recommended. Food was amazing
The food is delicious and the portions are large. It’s a really nice place. It’s hard to find because it’s not on the road. The service was not very good, no one came back to give us drinks, water, or ask if we wanted anything else. We will try it again.
Chatting with the chef and getting both his and our server's recommendations were great, all the food, drinks, and dessert were amazing, we will definitely be going back to try what we didn't get this time and see what new things are added!
Excellent meal. Innovative menu. Every dish was delicious! The executive chef visited every table to ensure all guests were happy. Will definitely return.
The air conditioning was set at 66 degrees and rather than stay for dessert and coffee, my friend and I chose to pay and leave. The music level was loud and then when the musician was setting up, he kept squealing the speaker. I had heard good things about the food and it was tasty, but I do not think I will go back.
A friend really liked her steak dinner and her soup. Another friend ate the civeche. I tried it and it was really good. My chicken quesadilla was not the best. The chicken was really good but there wasn't enough cheese to keep the top and bottom together so the chicken was falling out. I did make a suggestion to the chef when he came to the table. Another friend had the fried raviolli. I sampled it as well. Barely any cheese or spinach in it so all I tasted was the fried breading. The service was good. There was a live musician that started at 7. I will try it again, but will order something other than the quesadilla.
Dinner was lovely!! Staff are great and very attentive. The food is phenomenal! Drinks were perfect. I enjoyed the DJ and option to request songs. Tony, Jessica, Rosalie, David, I didn’t catch everyone’s name, but everyone there is the sweetest!! I can’t wait to see you all again soon :))
This was a good experience with Tapas style dining. We enjoyed the options, especially the quesadillas, cuban sandwich and empanadas. The Pisco Sour was very tasty and artfully presented. We dined with family hoping to catch up with each other's lives but found that the live music (started at 7PM on a weeknight) was not conducive to conversation. Don't get me wrong, the music was good, just not what we expected on a weeknight.
There was only one entree which was pork. The noise level with music was terrible and the Chef talks in a loud robust voice at other tables and you cannot here.
Was not impressed and will not go back
