The Griffin Restaurant - Murphy Arts District
Excluding seafood, all food served at the restaurant will be Arkansas grown from farms within a 200-mile radius of the city. Please note that all of our farming sources are listed on a mural inside the Griffin Restaurant.
The Griffin has seating for more than 200 patrons including two private dining rooms, which are available for private rental, and outside patio seating.
The service was amazing. The waitress was attentive and worked well under pressure. The food was excellent. I will plan on coming again.
Love the garlic fries. Comedy show was a nice change.
Excellent service, everyone we talked to greeted us cordially and kindfully. Our waiter, brock, took amazing care of us despite the busy Mothers Day rush. The food is decent, definitely things you can't find anywhere else in the area; however, it is way too overpriced for food that plates well, but doesn't have the taste to match.
Mothers Day Brunch
I put no but I would recommend with caution. Facilities were beautiful and atmosphere was great...however, spent an hour waiting on our food. Was disappointed that the restaurant had put more attention on a special party then on their customers in the main restaurant.
This venue offers a no cover charge Thursday night band. There is a variety of acts that perform on stage weekly and you can just have cocktails or drinks and dinner. Our meal was very good but portions on the pasta dish I ordered were a bit smaller than I would have liked. We really enjoyed the band and the company of our friends.
It was, uh. Kind of needlessly fancy. It was honestly a little weird. Since it was my first time there, I decided to play it a little safe and got the burger. It was pretty good, but not what I would paid for it. The fries were delicious though, and my partner loved the sauce on the burger. It seems we got there a little early, because the band wasn't set up, and they still wasn't set up by the time we left. All in all, it was okay, but I probably wouldn't go there again, and I most likely won't reccomend to a friend.
Service was exceptionally slow, considering there were several empty tables. Menu seems to need some work 90% of the mains contained some sort of onion in the ingredients. There were no chef specials and by 630 we were told there were only three portions of the ragu left. No shrimp or fish, only scallops of which you got 3 for $31. Also if the bacon bread balls are “complimentary”, keep them coming.
Brock was our waiter tonight, and did an exceptional job.
The Griffin has broken my heart. Our favorite Sunday brunch spot has changed from the fun, lively, friendly hot spot to a somber, quiet, average place to get lunch on Sunday. I will probably get banned after this review but after I have given The Griffin five stars many times for our thoroughly enjoyable past experiences, I have to be honest this time as well. After so many changes within the restaurant, I can't ever keep up with what to expect. I will receive an email enticing me to try out this or that, only to be offered something totally different if I go to the restaurant a few weeks later. The 'bottomless mimosas' that were advertised up until a month or so ago are a distant memory. I don't mind paying by the glass, like anywhere else around here, but if you're going to serve me juice & Cook's/Andre I think you could do it for $2-3 a glass instead of $5. More disappointing was the atmosphere. A year ago we would go at least twice a month and came to expect exceptional service, plenty of food & drinks and fun, lively music and people. The last couple of times there has been such a somber vibe in the place that I almost felt I was at an after funeral luncheon. There was only faint music playing and I was afraid to chat with my partner as to not disturb anyone else in such a quiet room with good acoustics. Also, I think what bothered me the most was I had recommended brunch at The Griffin to friends visiting from out of town. I had bragged on the service, atmosphere and drink specials and they didn't get any of that on their first visit. They were very underwhelmed and I felt really bad about recommending something they didn't enjoy. I know not everyone out there is looking for 'Sunday Funday' when they go to brunch, and I realize that may be the reason for the changes, but after I got accustomed to getting a similar vibe in El Dorado as I do at brunch on vacation in places like Boulder or Austin, I am sad and disappointed with the recent changes.
Very good atmosphere with GREAT service and Hospitality
The food and service was very good. The light was unpleasant. We were a party of four and the lights were beaming directly in our eyes. Also LeBryant Crew was singing and he asked for the lights to be changed for the stage...no one changed the lighting! It’s a very annoying lightning issue that needs to be addressed.
I’ve have given the Griffin a previously generous rating of 3 stars after the new chef took over. I’m glad we tried it again as he has definitely made some changes for the better. There are some shareable appetizers including a fabulous pork terrine. The salads now have 2 options of sizes and you don’t have to beg for them to add a protein as that is now also an option. The mains courses all sound good. The scallops were great. I still don’t get the portion size of the steak. 20oz NY strip is huge and pricey (For $7 more I can get salad, steak, side and dessert at Ruth Chris). Steak was okay as it was over cooked but still tasty. They have also added some sides to the menu that aren’t a starch. The roasted vegetables were phenomenal. Overall this was a great dinner date with my wife. The music is a great added bonus.
As always, the Griffin has great service, a diverse menu, and it is a fun place to go with friends.
Great fun on Thursday night with friends. Food is reasonably priced and the service was great. The Thursday night entertainment, Dusty Rose Band, was really good an I believed everyone there had a fun time! We sure did! I can recommend the roasted veggies, fish and chips, and grilled pork chop, because we cleaned our plates! Be sure to order an extra round of focaccia bread and drinks! 🍷 I’ll be back!
My Book Club has met at the Griffin two months in a row now. Both times we had excellent, prompt service and the food quality was very good. You have the best red beans and rice in town. My only complaint is you need more options on the wine menu. We will definitely be coming back.
The food was fabulous and the staff were very quick ,courteous, and accurate. We will be back soon.
The orange and white chocolate cheesecake was amazing, best I've had in town.
My wife and I always enjoy the Griffin Restaurant. Everything was great - the food, the service, and the music.
Wedge salad with shrimp was very good
The brisket sandwich was also good.
Recommend avoiding the pork chop as it was all bone and lucky to get three bites. Extremely poor value. That cut should have never been served. Informed the server who relayed the chef said their source is from local young hogs, not the 2000# commercial hogs. First off hogs do not reach that weight and if they believe that justifies the explanation then better find a new meat source judge. I can do better at Timberlane Meat Market who gets a majority of their meats within 50 miles of town.
In addition, the kids menu, who runs out of Mac-n-cheese? Really?? It’s not like they were busy as there was only one other table being served in the entire place.
Anyway, from when we first visited The Griffin a year ago to now it seems to be vacillating on quality.
For the price, doubt we’ll be back. From the lean attendance I don’t expect them to be long lived.
Wow the facility is top notch-it is hard to believe the original building was constructed in 1929. The amount of work that went into the renovation is unbelievable. Keep up the good work MAD.
I always enjoy going to the Griffin!! Especially when they have a great band to entertain!!
It's been a while since we've eaten there. New chef & new menu. I had the pork chop entree with collards and mashed potatoes. Best collards I've ever tasted. My wife decided to try something out of her comfort zone and had the roasted califlower. Both were excellent. For dessert, I had the cheesecake, which was excellent, and my wife had the Bananas Foster, which she said was to die for. Totally enjoyed our anniversary dinner.
We were sitting right in front of the stage. The band was amazing! Food was wonderful. Drinks were fantastic! Would highly recommend.
My wife, youngest son, and a family friend and I had a wonderful dining experience with great music. The service, as always, was excellent.
Nothing special. Limited selection.
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful Sunday brunch and experienced exceptional service. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating and the eggs Benedict were absolutely delicious! We try to make it to Sunday brunch at the Griffin a couple of times a month and we are never disappointed.
Had a great time listening to Zac Wilkerson! Sat at the bar and had outstanding service, and the food was awesome.
Really cool venue, with great food and drinks. The Thursday Night Live series of musical performances is awesome. Jason Eady and Courtney Patton preformed and were the reason for the visit. The good food, service, and cool venue were just an added bonus.
Disappointed in service and the omelet bar is a joke!
My wife and I had a great visit, as usual. The service was exceptional, as was the ambiance and music. The food was excellent.
Great service and good entertainment.
Dinner on a Wednesday evening with a business colleague. It was a very quiet evening with only a few other diner in the restaurant. I had shrimp scampi followed by pork chop. Scampi was in a cream sauce which was unexpected but good. Pork chop was very large, almost 1.5” thick, and cooked to my liking. My companion had fish and chips which was ok, but a little bland. Service was ok, but for some unexplained reason we had a server change mid meal. Servers seemed to need a bit more training.
Dinner before the show everything was fine until it came time to pay the bill and then that was a little slow otherwise a most enjoyable evening
This restaurant is in the same complex as a music hall and this was an event night. The servers seemed to be mostly inexperienced and there was confusion around our meal, the food of which was average. I’ll probably give them another shot when I’m in town on a non-event night. Nice facility and space.
I ordered a salad and entree everything came out at once. They need to be trained.
We had linguine, scallops (special), pork chops, fish n chips. Wish I had ordered something besides the FnC. Others were very oleased w/ their food. I’ll have to come back again. And will be glad to do so.
My wife and I love coming to the Griffin Restaurant. The service is exceptional, as is the ambiance and the musicians.
This was my second time here. First to see DeFrance and second time for The ShotGunBillys. Great experience both times. Wait staff is very friendly, food is great and the whole atmosphere is very enjoyable. Will be back and will recommend to family and friends. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
I had the fish & chips and the fish wasn’t very fresh. Tasted a little, for lack of a better word, fishy.
