The Greenwich Ratings and Reviews
Nice room, but the service, loud music, poor communication, and poor execution of tuna dish ruined the occasion for us. Chef was apparently unable to cook tuna through without turning it into shoe leather. We would have preferred that chef just say, sorry but it needs to be raw. Server kept appearing suddenly from behind one of us, which was startling and a bit creepy. This restaurant should close.
Service was good, but food was a major disappointment. None of us could even eat our appetizers and they didn't ask why. My octopus salad was so salty , another person's salad overly anchovy and another had the watermelon salad that just didn't work with peanuts.
Entrees were ok, but not great. Crowd not very chic.
I would say similar crowd to Red Stixx, won't recommend anyone visit sadly.
We had the duck breast and the scallops which were both better than average . The wine we ordered had to be returned because it was off. The restaurant was well designed but had almost no buzz around 8pm on a Friday night in August and for some reason attracted some large parties of very young people wearing shorts t shirts and flip flops. The sign out front is one of those temporary canvases which seems to advertise that it may not be around next season. I would actually like to see it succeed because the food and location are good. But there are just too many restaurants with better buzz that I would sooner return to .
Went in with high expectations based on menu. Ended with "just OK." Appetizer salads were described differently but were basically the same salad (arugula) differentiated only by the garnishes (rubbery calamari [cold] and microscopic bits of corn. Mains much more solid, but not overly exciting for prices. Drinks were good on paper, run of the mill in real life. Valet parking kind of a joke (are we in L.A.?) Service was solid and friendly. Not really a restaurant, but a wannabe scene. Won't make it through the winter as year rounders won't touch this place. Give it 2 years tops in a location that should be called a foodie graveyard.
It is hardly surprising the restaurant was half empty when we were there. Although our prior two visits were quite satisfactory the most recent was very disappointing. Despite the limited menu, the kitchen could not get the food out timely, with vegetables served after the dinner was finished. The service was spotty and the food mediocre. We will likely not return
Our party of 11 made reservations in advance, however, we were seated 1 hour later than our reservations time. Although we had this roadbump in the beginning of the night, the restaurant certainly compensated for the mistake. The service and food were outstanding. I would recommend this spot for anyone looking to go to a cool spot for a special occasion.
Great replacement to Red Styx. Same sub par service. It's much more appropriate to serve "Hamptons'esque" cuisine such as scallops and lobster rolls - while the food is pricey ($12 for steamed carrots) it's the price you pay for a hip establishment that's only open less than half the year. Gladly the young 20-somethings are out in Montauk, so a group of four in their thirties doesn't have to feel out of place dining here.
The service however can be improved - we waited 45 min for our table even with a reservation and the waiter was not well versed on the menu, nor did he check on us. We had to ask the bus boy to find him to order drinks and a second time, dessert.
NOISE!!!!!!! A lovely waiter. A nice restaurant, good food, but we skipped dessert because the noise level was so awful!!! We couldn't wait to get to the parking lot so our heads would stop ringing. Honestly couldn't hear one word anybody else was trying to say. Loudest dining experience of Our Lives!
this restaurant is new...its beautiful...the service is outstanding..the drinks and wine list are great...but the food is awful. i ordered the kale salad which was hard and cold. the i ordered the halibut...it was overcooked, soggy and tasteless. My date ordered the Tuna...it was marginally better...it came out very salty and hot in some parts, cold in others. The restaurant was packed! im thinking that maybe being a new establishment, they were unfit to handle the crowd...but for their prices, im not willing to try again anytime soon.
Menu is very limited and expensive for what is offered. We struggled to follow find appealing choices. One person had the charred corn salad and there was not a speck of char on any of the kernels. Octopus salad was mostly lettuce, a few pieces of octopus and canned grapefruit segments. We did not stay for dessert and coffee.
Crowded, hot. Restaurant air conditioning was not strong enough to accommodate the 160 people in the dining room according to management. Way, way too noisy, could not hear anyone at our table talk. Tables were on top of each other. All of this after waiting 45 minutes for our reservation. We and our guests will never be back again.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. DID NOT HONOR RESERVATION .... Totally overbooked...
RUDE PEOPLE. OPEN TABLE SHOULD NOT ALLOW THIS RESTAURANT ON THEIR SIGHT.
HOPEFULLY THEY WONT BE THERE AFTER THIS SEASON .... NOT RECOMMEDED ...
ONE OF THE WIRST DINING EXOERIENCES I EVER HAVE HAD.
Noise level was unbearable (music was exceptionally loud and didn't need to be screaming loud). Service was fair at best and with an open table reservation took 45 mins to seat us, we'll behind others that walked invader we arrived. Very disappointed with the quality/value.
The Greenwich Hamptons, is not only the best restaurant at this location in years, it is becoming a top East End dining spot. Trust the scores of real Hamptons diners who are dining here is large numbers and enjoying the fine dishes, exceptional service, particularly in the Hamptons Summer Season .
Yes some haters of the management team are going to hate, but don't believe their biased reviews.
I've had so many bad service experiences recently that when I arrived at The Greenwich, I was expecting more of the same. I was SO HAPPY to be WRONG!! I loved the decor and it was a great people-watching place but more than that, they wee really on top of their game with their service. The server was knowledgeable and attentive, and even apologetic when there was a small issue. And the food was great. Interesting, flavorful, and well presented. Finally , a restaurant that knows what hospitality means! Hopefully, we'll be back.
The space is beautifully decorated throughout. We spent some time at the bar with a great waiter, Alex. He and his co tenders were enthusiastic and fun. The dining room is very loud and filled with 15 % too many tables. We were unfortunately saddled with a waiter who didn't pay much attention to us. The food is fantastic - every dish we ordered was excellent. I look forward to returning to the bar and a less crowded dining room.
Had a 8:30 reservation and were told they'd seat us soon. By 8:50 was still waiting and only by complaining did we get seated. Summer hot spot in the Hamptons on a July 4th weekend night so somewhat expected. Food was solid if unexceptional. Worth a visit on a less crowded night.
We enjoyed everything, no complaints. Food and service was excellent, well timed, nice portions, perfectly prepared, beautifully seasoned and presented. Our waiter was excellent. We would note that the place was quiet, and less than half full for the time we were there (a 7:30 reservation on a Friday night). A little concerning, but there was a boisterous bar scene when we left around 9:30 and more people were coming in, so maybe it's just a later night scene. It is also pricy.
We went to a cocktail party before going to The Greenwich, so we were not overly hungry. We each had a main course and shared a bottle of wine. Two of us had the scallops and two had the duck. I thought the scallops were good. Those who had the duck were less enthusiastic.
Needs some work
Tina was too salty and served like a lump of meat . It should have been fanned and there should have been more mango salsa!
Burrata was not high quality and salads had too much arugula and not enough dressing or ingredients that were highlighted
Donuts were delicious
The Greenwich is new to the Hamptons and literally just opened. They are eager to please. The service was a bit slow between courses but I know they will do better in a few weeks.
My meal was excellent. I had the calamari salad and the chicken for two. The Salad was Delicious and the chicken was one of the best whole chickens I have eaten. It was moist and juicy and the sauce was so flavorful. The owners were so lovely that they comped our dessert. I will go back!
I have learned that this is a "pop-up" restaurant. The chairs are cheap folding type that are exceedingly uncomfortable after 10 minutes. It had an odd menu with no salad as a first course even though it is summer in the Hamptons. They were out of several items. The food was tasteless and for what it was, exorbitant. Do not order the pork chop which comes with a pile of cold beans. They had only ice cream and sorbet for dessert. They said the menu was being developed....if you have a restaurant, the first thing you have is a menu of items that you prepare well. This restaurant will be gone at the end of the season.
So we went opening weekend to this restaurant and our reservation was at 830. By 10pm we still had not received our appetizers or drinks... When I would ask our waiter about when the food was coming he would wave me off and basically ignoring me. I understand you just opened the restaurant and you have some things to work through but on top of everything you're also going to be extremely rude and disrespectful?? We tried to leave by 11pm when we still hadn't received our entrees... Everyone sitting around us got up and left before their food arrived as well. What we did eat was bland and uneventful. You couldn't pay me to go back.
