Green Room - Greenville - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Clearly an awful day at the green room. I have always enjoyed it, and it has always been a good choice for business lunches, etc. But this time, service was dreadfully slow, food orders were incorrect or poorly prepared, but we waited so long for the lunch to arrive, that no one felt like we could afford to send it back. Food was subpar on my most recent visit prior to this one, which is a shame, because I really used to enjoy.
We went to the Green Room hoping to grab a quick meal before the NCAA. Tournament. We ordered the Prime Ribeye sandwich and it was pretty sad. The "meat" (which would not be easily identified as steak) was sparse and way over cooked. Hoagie roll was huge compared to the meat and felt like it was probably bought in a 6 pack at Publix. Same for the lettuce - definitely sad and witty and had "grocery store" written all over it. The sandwich was supposed to have cheese on it - it did not. Ambience was nice and server was pleasant. Probably a nice spot for a drink but buyer beware on the food.
Unfortunately, this is the 2nd time we haven't had a very good experience there. It took 30 minutes to get our food and the service was slow. We couldn't even find the oysters in the Oysters Rockefeller. I guess we're going to have to give up on The Green Room. Too bad
The room is comfortable and inviting with brick walls, cozy booths, muted lighting. Service was attentive and friendly. But for openers, the wine list left with the menus is a shocker, with a dozen or so bottles listed ranging from the $40s to over $100 a bottle! When asked for a reality check, the waiter pointed out a more reasonable list tucked in the menu. Our party of 3 had a late lunch and so had planned a light dinner. My guests decided to split the crab cake entree while I ordered the flank steak sandwich. The crab cakes were small and bland - none of the 3 of us could taste any crab within. They were buried in a spaghetti squash coulis, an unusual accompaniment which contributed nothing to the dish. As for my sandwich, it consisted of a sparse serving of mostly ground meat on a toasted hot dog bun (!) with a sprinkling of shredded lettuce and hothouse tomato. My side dish of coleslaw was passed around for comments and the best characterization we came up with was 'gloppy.' The bill for 1 entree, 1 sandwich and 4 glasses of house wine came to over $90 after tip and taxes. We decided it was worth about 1/3 of that. Un-pleased and unsatisfied, we decided to finish off the night with takeout from a local pizzaria. Disappointing.
Our server was very engaged and helpful. He even made excellent suggestions for a veggie substitution when I mentioned I wasn't a fan of a particular item. Presentation was superb and our entrees were savory. The chef was on top of her game. Really yummy cocktails too! We'll be back for dinner and can't wait to try brunch
The Green Room never disappoints and this time was no exception! Love coming here and the service is top notch. Look forward to my next time having a bite there and I highly recommend anyone to go there. Not to mention they always treat my family excellent even though it's not a kid atmosphere they always make us feel welcome.
We went for a Friday date night. Food was good but they were out of several things. We also felt like we were sitting on top of the people on either side of us. I could hear every word of the fight the couple next to me was having. Basically, the service was great and the food was good. But the atmosphere leaves something to be desired.
