Excellent service and food
Excellent service by Daniel. He was professional , friendly, informative, and attentive. Menu selections were great. Our food was delicious. We had the grilled oysters, rolls, Brussel sprouts, steak and s'mores for dessert. The coffee was also amazing. We can't wait to go back and try other items.
My wife and I always love the Gray Canary. The rotating menu and cocktails keep us coming back!
Absolutely delicious food and wonderful service every time we go! The menu is always creative and tasty.
Food was good, but everything else was a little off. Our waiter was friendly but scarce; long waits for everything. Pricing very aggressive ($6 for 2 pieces of bread?). We tried 4 different glasses of wine between us, all $14-$18, all disappointing. It was my wife's birthday, and at the end of the meal they brought her ... a card. I hate to complain about that, it's just the only restaurant I've ever seen where they don't at least give you a cupcake or something for a birthday. Combined with the wierdly expensive bread and bad wine, we just left with the impression of being squeezed for every dollar. There's much better in Memphis for the money.
Creative and delicious choices. Our server was great, and we had a beautiful river view. We loved our evening there.
The menu choices were limited. The drink and wine list were expensive. Our server was the highlight of the night. She was knowledgeable about the menu and offered appropriate suggestions.
Outstanding food. Great ambiance. This place is a huge winner.
Waiter, food and atmosphere was great!! Highly recommend any of their restaurants.
Amazing flavors and great service! You can’t go wrong with any of the plates and their cocktail menu is so unique and creative. The s’mores dessert is a must!
Would recommend the trout to anyone and everyone. Absolutely fantastic.
Great handcrafted cocktails, knowledgeable bartender who made a great suggesions for wine pairings and told us all about the ingredients. Great food - what I expect of the Andrew-Michael team.
Dakota is the best server!!
Wonderful experience as always! Definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Memphis.
Loved it! We are visiting from out of town and loved this place. The renovation works so well- bright, open with high ceilings.
I’m a vegetarian and we loved the food: the beets, Brussels sprout salad special bread and mussels (my friends aren’t vegetarian and really liked them.) Excellent service too. Request a booth so you can high up in the window and watch the sunset over the Mississippi river. Don’t miss this place.
We’d go frequently if we lived in Memphis.
Great food, service was poor, wasn’t expecting that for the price we paid
Fabulous in every way. Next time we want a window seat with the view of the bridge! Gorgeous at sunset.
Great bartenders! Great recommendations. Had to wait for our reservation a bit longer than we had hoped but it was a great experience!
The server was attentive and the food was good. My only comment would be that bread should come with the meal. Charging $6 for two rolls seems excessive. Overall it was a good experience.
Their Frankensteinchicken is probably my favorite dish in Memphis. That's not what they call it, but that's basically what it is - almost a new cut of chicken, it's amazing. Good craft cocktails and wine list. Not much for draft beer, though there are about a dozen craft beers in can/bottles.
Good place to go with a group and share different plates. Excellent service. Dining room can get a little loud but the location can't be beat, with views of the river and the bridge that lights up at night from the main dining room. A good date night for a local or spot for a business traveler. They offer free valet as well.
A perfect 30th birthday celebration for my brother! We loved every bite, every drink, everything was wonderful! Thank you so much!!!
Great food and atmosphere. Service was excellent, can”t wait to go back!
Excellent food and service. The cocktails selection and bartenders were fantastic, too!
Always an enjoyable experience!
While I would recommend someone give this a shot if you like new places, its another example of the idea that less is more. Meaning, less food for the dollar is supposedly better because, I guess, it takes so long to make a 6 oz portion of food rather than an 8 oz one? The food was good, but not great and not worth the high dollar (only 2 entrees under $30, and one of those is a burger, the other the flank steak. Check out the $56 ribeye- are you kidding me! Go to Houstons, J Alexanders, or Stoney River!. The duck and flank steak were flavorful but both tough. I've had better duck for much less at Pacific Rim, or Bhan Thai. The lobster and oso buco were the best entrees at our table, and each a bit closer to the right value considering portion and taste. The veggie preparations we had were very good and ample to share- broccolini and Brussel sprouts. The grilled oysters were good but there only 5 at table of 4, so we would have asked for 8 (or even 4) had we known, but that is the kind of thing your server should tell you when you order something like that for the table if the menu doesn't give the number. But we'll take responsibility for not asking. The space is interesting but also in the trend of less (meaning lets leave the old "industrial" look and spend less money on ceilings and other renovations) is more. The result is very noisy but probably "energetic", not unlike their other trendy place, Catherine and Mary's (also with only 1 entree under $30- but at least there is no $56 ribeye!!). I would probably recommend Catherine and Mary's over this due to the awesome pasta small plates there- those are special and really unique in this town. The parent restaurant, Andrew Michael, is still probably the best of these 3, considering again the great pasta dishes and the somewhat better priced entrees (still only 1 under $30). Overall might try Gray Canary again but probably more apt to have small plates and drinks rather than springing for the entrees again.
The service was ordinary, as soon as we mentioned we were not drinking our waiter was much less attentive. In fact he gave us our check and we still were waiting for two entrees. The restaurant is very full of itself and a little pretentious. The waiter said we should have 2 small plates and 1 entree. That would have been too much food and a $300 bill for 4 people. We will not be back.
The oysters were delicious, and the wine sommelier was very helpful. The other small plates we were good, but not terrific. Our table for two seemed unusually wide, as we had to bend over to talk to each other. When I go back I will reserve a booth by the windows where you can watch the light show on the M Bridge.
The food was outstanding and our server, Ro, had an excellent educational and interesting explanation for everything on the menu. Her attention to us was great. Had we not been sitting in the far corner booth, the noise would have certainly detracted from our dinner more than it did. Better for a group than for date night, because of the limited booth seating and noise level. Will definitely be back and will bring others with us. Great food!
Great! We will be back!
Second time there celebrating for Caitlyn’s 26th Birthday. The staff is attentive and quick and offers amazing cocktails and suggestions for each course. I don’t think there was an item we didn’t try, thanks to the small plate concept. Don’t miss the smoked fish dip, grilled oysters or mussels, if you are fans. The country ham is a favorite and the burger did not disappoint. Almost too full for dessert but the sundae was soooo good!
Excellent food and service. I would highly recommend
Struggled with menu,pricing,options.
I get the small plate concept.
Heavy on vegetables.
Sous vide chicken well prepared but sauce just too pungent.
Duck delicious, but how can you order a couple of small plates and eat the entree?
Then no substitutions.
Place was busy so could be just me.
Great small plates with a very nice variety. Especially liked the Brussel sprouts salad and I usually am not a fan of Brussel sprouts
Exquisite food and service. Sweet potatoes soaked in duck fat and grilled...signature dish...
The food is Art. It hits every sense and then some. Flavor, smell, sound, visual, texture. And the drinks, too.
Everything was wonderful! Absolutely loved the food and all the staff recommendations. Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I have zero complaints and can’t wait to go back.
Food and service were excellent! Parking wasn't bad either and live the tie-in with the distillery.
Great food and service. Pricey but as expected for a trendy place. Loved the open brick and warehouse feel. It was loud, but we booked early to avoid even noisier later times in the evening. Service was intentional, thoughtful, and engaged. Seating in the booth is not very comfortable for a shorter person because the table hits at about neck level. View from the window was of construction, but we chose to see that as encouraging rather than unsightly.
We had the absolute BEST experience at Gray Canary. Every dish we got was phenomenal and our waiter was great! Highly suggest this restaurant and will definitely be back!
