The Gray Canary
Booked the restaurant for my wife’s birthday and the ambience was very nice. They provide valet parking that cost only tips and seating was prompt. The food was fine, but more a mixture of different styles as opposed to just one variety. I only wish that had done something special to recognize her birthday. Other than that it was a awesome atmosphere for a night.
Great vibe as soon as we walked in. Staff was so welcoming and our waitress was so patient with us. A few of us were gluten free and we were easily accommodated. Definitely going back for the broccolini and chicken.
Squid was awesome! Service great! Ribeye just ok not worth the money at all!
Excellent food, service, and ambiance.
It was excellent food, service was very good. I really liked this place. Good environment for dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant when you are at Memphis
Great vibe and the servers know their stuff. Food is tremendous and very unique. Wine list is on the pricey side (no reds under $50), but you can bring your own (can't remember the corkage fee). Been there twice and have not been disappointed. Next time I'm there with just my wife, we'll try eating in the bar.
Just a fabulous restaurant. Great food, wonderful ambience. Good recommendations on wine. Iberia great experience.
All of the aspects of our visit were excellent. Ro did a great job of guiding us through the menu and answering all of our questions. The S'mores dessert was great! A good time was had by all.
The hostess offered to check our coats, then we were seated right away. The ambiance was quiet, relaxing, and enjoyable. The perfect place for an intimate dinner. The service was exceptional. Several people stopped by our table to refill our waters, check on our food and service, and our server even made tap water sound fancy. Everything was delicious. One of the staff members recommended the s'mores and I wasn't too thrilled because I'm not a fan of s'mores. We ended up trying it anyway because everything we tried had been amazing so far. It exceeded my expectations and was phenomenal! I'd definitely recommend The Gray Canary. It was a perfect night out.
Their restaurants never disappoint. We ordered the burger, which we nor anyone would anticipate ordering because there are so many wonderful options.... But wow, just wow... Make your choice, and I’m confident it will be the right one
Excellent food, starting from the appetizers (grilled oysters, smoked fish spread), continuing with the small plates (sweet potatoes and chorizo, green salad, chicken and potatoes) and ending with the entrees (lobster with a lemony creme fraiche, pork osso bucco, hamburger). Our waitress was great, knowledgeable about the menu and drinks and efficient, the orders came from the kitchen in a perfectly timely manner and at perfect temperatures, even if it was a busy Friday night. The only slight drawbacks were the noise level (a little too loud, likely due to a great extent to the hard concrete floors and other hard surfaces around) and the fact that we were uncomfortably cold in our booth by the window (on a cold and rainy night outside).
Overpriced. Had a dozen raw oysters, 5 grilled oyster, 2 oyster shots, and 2 drinks. It cost 105$. The oysters were small and drinks were not strong enough. Also if you are 2 people and have to sit at the location where one person is on the Bench and the other is in a chair don’t plan on speaking. The table is too far apart and the people next to you are too close. My wife and I sat at the raw bar so we could even speak to each other.
Very enjoyable experience. Wait staff was excellent
The whole experience was great. The service from the staff excellent. The food was delicious & the wait wasnt long. I would recommend this restaurant.
The food was excellent. We love the small plates. This group of restaurants always deliver. You can tell the minute you step into any of their restaurants
Service and food are always outstanding
We were very pleased with the service and the restaurant feel. Food was very good, although the chicken small plate small plate was not very good. I would recommend this restaurant. We plan to go back soon.
Great atmosphere, great food.
it was good as always. i think there was a miscommunication with what we wanted to come out and when. as a result, there was a gap in service. all in all, very good. we will come again.
Definitely fit for foodies. If you like inventive seasonal cuisine, this is the place. My wife and I ordered 5 small plates to share and they were all outstanding! Highly recommended. We will be back soon! P.S. - The cocktails at the bar were outstanding too!
Wonderful experience. The only issue is the entrance isn't clear. Otherwise, the food was great!
Excellent experience ! Had dinner at the bar and we had a great time ! Staff is very welcoming and hospitable
Gray Canary has changed their menu and it’s superb! Love all of their small plates & the crab claws!
This is my new favorite A/M place. Everything about it is wonderful, from the sleek design, the view of the bridge and the Pyramid, the food, the table service, even the napkins rock! I love the small plate concept and all of the dishes we chose lived up the A/M reputation. The crab claws were delicious, the short ribs tasty and tender, the brussle sprout salad tangy--we enjoyed it all. I did question the price of the Parker House rolls. While just as good as my grandma's, $6 for 2 of them? Really? Otherwise, a perfect meal.
Great atmosphere for a quiet dinner or special occasion. The grilled oysters and park house rolls were amazing. Good strong drinks!
Very expensive for the amount of food you get. Would probably try the entree portions next time.
I dined with two guests. We are self-proclaimed foodies and enjoyed the experience overall. Immediately impressed by the ambience and awesomeness of the space. Craft cocktails...very nice, no skimping on the alcohol. We ordered oysters, six small plates and the pork osso bucco. Our favs, the sweet potato, and brussel sprouts, oysters from VA, just right. I found all the proteins to be under seasoned and over cooked. I was esp looking forward to the osso bucco. :(....short rib was chewy, tuna just bland.... I'm not sure if we were too early (1730 reservation) or novices in the kitchen. We loved the ambition, the flavor profiles were unexpectedly tasty. Just the meats fell flat as I commonly see in the Memphis restaurant scene (dont know why). Maggie, our server was ON POINT! Knowledgeable, patient, attentive.... that's what'll keep me coming back.... cool spot. looking forward to next time.
I was there for the Andrew Micheal guest chef dinner. The food was amazing and our waiter could not have been better. He knew the menu well and helped us with our choices. Will go again.
Very creative and fresh. Get to try a lot of different things the way the menu is set up.
Everything was fantastic, the only thing I would change is the SMORE dessert. A couple people told me it tasted like rubbing alcohol due to the liquid poured over it and it did. Our waitress told us to let it burn out bf eating bc it can taste funny but it was really awful. The inside, so yummy but that liquid was horrible! Tasted like a cigarette.
Everything else... INSANELY AMAZING! We will be back and will tell everyone to visit. We also visited Andrew Michael for NYE and it was UNBELIEVABLE! Great restaurants!
Everything was impeccable. Such a fun menu, and everything was spectacular. From the food, to the wine, to the cocktails, and even the service were all perfect. Would 100% recommend.
The food and service was fabulous! Looking forward to our next visit.
Excellent food. Great service. Close to the Orpheum.
I think the small plates were a bit misleading - we were expecting them to be much smaller so we over ordered. But the food was exceptional and the service was probably the best we've had in a long time, very attentive from the time you walk in the door.
Proud this restaurant is in Memphis! Great venue .
Rachel was fabulous and really knew the menu to delve into specifics. Food was incredible!!! And there were so many different choices compared to the online menu. Small plates to share among the table but we all were stuffed when we left. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!
We selected the Gray Canary for pre-theater dinner. Seating was swift and pleasant. Our server was amazing. He made great recommendations for our party for food drink and dessert. We did not feel rushed or abandoned. Each dish was tasty and well prepared. My only request would be for a little more lighting. We all felt it was a tad dark for the table diners versus the booth diners. Overall an excellent experience
Food was excellent and I loved the presentation. Staff was friendly and attentive.
This was my third trip to Gray Canary and all three have been very enjoyable! Good location for a girl's night or date night!
The food and ambience Were wonderful though it was a little bit loud. Our server was very helpful and when something came out not right he not only fixed it but made us happy
Very creative but not over the top dishes
This is my favorite A|M venture yet! I've dined at all of them and often, all of which are exceptional but Gray Canary takes it to another level. Everything from the cocktails, service, food, dessert and amaro selection were outstanding. We had the scallops, tuna crudo, octopus and okra, each dish was perfectly executed. The wine list is not to be missed either. I look very forward to going back soon and can't recommend it enough!
