I was really looking forward to this place due to the hype. Unfortunately the service provided to our group of 9 was not satisfactory. Waitress was rude and not consistent.

I'm a BIG BIG fan of Tiki bars, and was disappointed by the experience.

I made a reservation for two. Got stuffed into a horrid corner seat that didn't have a table (was stolen by another group). Hostess then moved us to an uncomfortable high-top round table in the center of the bar area. The couple next to us had the same experience.

Service staff was young and beautiful, yet gave meh service at best.

Ambiance was very very cool.

TLDR: cool yet uncomfortable ambiance, okay service, great drinks. Go for one drink but don't bother trying to eat dinner there.

The food was amazing and the ambience was what we hoped it would be. The hidden entrance was a little confusing but we had so much fun at this place. Everything was priced fair and the cocktails are awesome!

Great food menu in the semi-speakeasy tiki bar. Great selection of rums to try.

Im not sure I would recommend the grass skirt. Its a little expensive for the quantity of food you receive and it was very loud when we were there. I would have enjoyed it more if the music was more in keeping with the tiki style and the music that was playing was very loud. We did enjoy the decor.

We really enjoyed the vibe of the Grass Skirt. The food was good but after a while everything tasted heavily of hoisin sauce. The Dan Dan noodles were delicious! We would come back to try it again since it's a fun dining experience and try a few more items on the menu.

The idea is great. With proper management and an owner who understands experience it would be great. The owners don’t understand what it takes to create an ethos that keeps you returning. I give it a year before closing. But, so close. You almost had it.

Awesome speakeasy in the heart of PB. It has a great selection of food and drinks that is much more than your typical beach bar. You feel transported into the middle of the Gaslamp feel when inside because of the energy, fellow patrons, and staff.

Loud bad music. At least sprinkle some tropical/hawaiin music in. Couldn't talk with the people I was with because we had to shout. Didn't stay for dinner. Actually the worst $11 Mai Tai I have ever had. I didn't expect Bali Hai quality but even using Mr & Mrs T's mix would have been better. Didn't understand the seating options online and chose standard seating which is not a table for dinner only for drinks. Atmosphere was nice but difficulty finding the door and almost left. Saw one couple actually give up and leave when they couldn't figure out how to get in. Entrance is through the Poke restaurant "kitchen" next door. Literally through their kitchen. Not really a tiki bar and won't go back. Not bad just not what I care for.

This place is exciting all around. First, it's fun to figure out how to get inside. The ambience is fantastic! Nice Hawaiian tropical theme with good music. It's so fun whenever someone orders a certain type of punch bowl drink the lights go down and music turns up. A great special occasion venue with friends for sure!

We came here for our anniversary. We came shortly after 5:00 pm so it was relatively quiet but we liked it. The drinks were great and the food was amazing. Loved the tiki decor and atmosphere. Will definitely come again.

Thomas is an exceptional server and always greets guests with enthusiasm and a smile. He’s great. Knows the menu and drink list by heart and can make recommendations to suit any tastes. We love the Grass Skirt for the food, the drinks, the atmosphere and especially for the way Thomas and the rest of the staff make us feel like part of the family.

Everything would have been better if the service was more aware of our table. Even when the servers did walk by, they rarely made eye contact with anyone in our party of (6).

Food and ambiance were great. We arrived on time with reservations for dinner Inside, and were sat at a high top round counter facing a fireplace. Very uncomfortable and awkward for dinner and a few rounds of drinks. We were there for two hours and had to take turns standing up to releive aching butts and backs. Very disappointing.

The Grass Skirt is an entire sensory experience! From the moment you walk in, it's visual, it's auditory and oh the smells coming from the kitchen! It starts by walking through a secret door, which is so fun and full of adventure! then you walk in to this beautifully decorated, dark and moody restaurant, where you can tell that everyone is having a blast! We sat and were greeted by a very sweet waitress. She took our drink order and even surprised my son with a special blended drink! We ordered the pork and shrimp wontons for an appetizer with our drinks...and man were they delicious! For our entrees we ordered the Ramen, the Dan Dan noodles and the pulled pork sliders for my son. All of it was so delicious!! The Dan Dan noodles are spicy, for someone with a sensitive pallet, but the flavor is delicious!! The ramen is creamy and dreamy, a real cozy dinner option! We were there to celebrate our birthdays, so at the end of the meal, our waitress brought us the sweetest dessert bento box, filled with lava cake, ice cream, caramelized bananas etc. It was truly a treat! Something fun that they do is, what my son calls a "special event"- ever 20-30 minutes they dim the lights and put on a show! It's so fun and really gets the customers excited! It truly feels like we are all on vacation, away from it all! A big thank you to all the people at The Grass Skirt for a wonderful dinner and show! Until next time!

I made reservations for 2 people and when we arrived at our reserved time there wasn’t a table. So, we stayed positive and instead of choosing to wait indefinitely for a seat, we found two spaces at the bar (in the center with the fire pit). It took greater than 15 minutes for the server to notice us, my friend even wondered aloud if we were invisible. After ordering, we waited another long period of time before our drinks even arrived.

Overall, the food and drinks were delicious, and the ambiance was interesting, but I was disappointed that my reservation wasn’t taking seriously and the service was extremely slow.

I have to say top tiki places of all time! The drinks amazing, food on point and the stuff above and beyond!!! We went for the first time on a Wednesday evening at 5 when they open and the stuff told us the entrance is through the poke place next door, we were like ok speak easy kinda place we with it! So it was happy hour and the menu had chi chi so we ordered and the waitress Sam sooo sweet and Providing awesome service. Sean the manager was so nice and went above and beyond, I would like to award him with being such an awesome manager for caring for his guests ! Please go and enjoy yourself at the Grass Skirt!

Such a fun place to meet for drinks and a wonderful meal. I had the daiquiri and my friend had a mule, which he greatly enjoyed. We also had a poke bowl and the portobello bao bun was extremely tasty. The Trivia was also really fun, even though I did not know the answer to one question.

Fun place with amazing drinks and food. Would love is the music could be a little less "bro" with some surfy, tiki-scentric stuff mixed in. Love the occasional storms!
