   Booked a table. Arrived and it was closed ! Had arranged to meet my father for lunch so it was a total disappointed that the pub was closed when we arrived. Why did the online system let me book and there was no information on closure on the website

   Only problem was that the website talks about the lovely fires. We arrived and the boiler had broken the day before yet the fires were not lit? This gave a very bad first impression to us as new visitors. We almost didn’t stay to eat it was so cold. Fortunately we did as the food was amazing and one of our party was gluten free and the range on offer was excellent. My tip - keep the fires lit, it makes such a difference to travellers who have come off the motorway to find you and want to feel cosy and welcome.

   My partners food was ok. However, I opted for the steak pie and was disappointed - the meat was chewy and dry and the pastry hard. There was a child running about. I’m guessing she lived there but it didn’t do anything for the atmosphere. Would definitely not return.

   We were disappointed with this pub because to start with they did not have the beer that was shown on tap Several items on the menu were not available and the jalapeno pizza didn't have any chillies on it. They have a lovely restaurant but because we went in on a Monday night no one else was eating in there so we ate in the bar. Overall rather a disappointing experience.

   I don’t normally do reviews but I went here for evening dinner after driving from Manchester. Staying at the services nearby for ongoing journey the next day was looking for a nice pub with good food. Having read the very good reviews I booked for two The pub is like a canteen Staff not interested Food ok but nothing special Could not eat in the nice looking restaurant as there was no heating ( nobody in it but looked nice ) Staff serving have no interest in their job or don’t understand what the job means Especially enjoyed the stain ridden A4 piece of paper copy with deserts on Really should have left but honoured my online booking This place is not what the reviews state !

   Very nice Sunday lunch. Delicious crumble. Fourth visit. Satisfactory every time.

   Very slow service, even though we were the only ones there, starters took 50 minutes to arrive! Friendly staff and good value. We enjoyed ourselves! Sunday lunch set menu food was average but main menu food was better! Delicious desserts! Good value drinks however our glasses were not cleared the whole meal.

   We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The service was excellent, ditto the food with a small but wide ranging menu so there was something for everybody from 7yrs to 70yrs.

   The food was top quality as was the service. It was a little noisy as we chose to eat at 7pm during the school holidays and there was a number of children running about, not the restaurants fault but did dampen the dining experience a little.

    I recently visited the Granville. The food and service was excellent. I was meeting my sister and we got there early and just wanted a little catch up before we ate. The waitress was very obliging and gave us plenty of time for a chat but kept checking on us. The decor in the restaurant was fine but the pub was a little tired. However as we ate in the restaurant this did not detract from our delicious meal.
