The Grange Bar & Restaurant
The menu showcases the market-driven bounties from the state and is best described as simple, seasonal and soulful. Organically raised meats and poultry are complemented with the freshest produce available from the Central Valley, while sustainable coastal seafood is paired with a spectacular all-California wine list. The entrees are presented in a straightforward American brasserie style. Lastly, enjoy the creations from our pastry chef such as rustic artisan breads and desserts.
This Sacramento restaurant’s setting is both classic and authentic. The two-story space combines architectural elements from the building’s rich history with exposed beams and concrete columns to create a surprising and urban, loft-like atmosphere.
We were running late for our reservation by 1/2 hour due to some unexpected traffic conditions. Called the restaurant to update them on our timing and they had no problem switching our 5:30 res to a 6 pm even though the restaurant was VERY busy and we needed one of their larger tables. Very accommodating. Then the food and service was amazing and delicious as usual. The gnocchi was awesome as were the Brussels sprouts and salad. Duet of beef was superb. I wouldn’t get the ravioli again as they were a little under filled and a touch on the bland side. Overall though great restaurant!
Great service. Felt special. Go for the short ribs. Divine!
Food and drinks were way over priced. Nothing worth bragging about. Expensive does not equal excellent. I will never eat there again.
First timers and everything we heard about Grange was right on. We enjoyed the excellent food, incredible service - thanks Q! - and lovely ambiance. Can’t wait to go back!
Although the food was very good, the service was particularly slow. There were big gaps of time in between courses, and half our party's meals came considerably later than others. The manager did comp a bottle of sparkling wine, which was nice.
Been to Grange a few times for Breakfast and really love this place. My wife and I really enjoyed our brunch today. Food presentation is excellent and portions are bountiful. I don't usually rate brunch/breakfasts but wow. Coming back for dinner soon
The Grange is my favorite fancy restaurant in Sacramento. The food is always fresh and well prepared, and the service is top notch.
Great dinner and wonderful ambience.
Service was spectacular. Great care was taken for a gluten-free diet, as well as other allergies. We will definitely return. The food was very good. We ordered off the special Dine Downtown menu. That was a fantastic value & a fundraiser a well.
The Grange is consistently a superior experience. It was quite cold on our most recent dining experience and Sacramento just isn't used to those temperatures. I recommend a table away from the large windows because it's so cold and drafty during weather like this...the windows aren't well insulated. But the food is terrific and the service outstanding. You can usually get street parking at night, although there is valet and a parking garage a few steps away.
Anything on their menu is delicious! This last time we had the ravioli with lobster. I thought the lobster was a minor ingredient, but it was not, with a nice piece of claw meat and half a tail garnishing a generous plate of ravioli with a delicious sauce. Their market steak is perfectly cooked to order and those geometric duck fat seared potato cubes are visually stunning as well as being completely satisfying. We have eaten at Grange numerous times whenever we are in town for business and it has never disappointed except for the times when we can't get a reservation or a table!
Dine Downtown was really bringing in the business on a Wednesday night! It was a first experience for me at The Grange, and I enjoyed my experience. The price fixe menu was awesome, and we appreciated that there was a vegetarian option available. Courses were a little slow coming out of the kitchen, and the nose level was too high. We both left completely full, but with throats sore from straining so we could hear each other.
While decidedly on the upper side of price, everything about the dining experience was on point. Food, service, and bar were all excellent.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ITEMS -- the mushroom soup is among the best I've had and the salmon was exceptional, too. The service is always good. Ask for an upstairs table if you want a quieter location. A+ overall.
It was super noisy and crowded as people were taking advantage of Dine Downtown week. As such hard to hear with all the conversations going on and wait staff a bit overworked. Food delicious!!!!
We had a lovely experience during Dine Downtown week. The food was delicious and the service was great. Will definitely be returning!
We’ve been here twice, but each time leaves us excited to come back. The staff is always so attentive and helpful. We love it here.
We went to The Grange during Dine Downtown Sacramento for the three course meal. My friend started with mushroom soup that was creamy with a concentrated mushroom flavor. My salad was a mixture of greens with radicchio, fennel, grapefruit and goat cheese topped with fresh herbs and tasted like the freshness of winter. We both ordered the salmon, which was presented on a bed of creamy pureed potatoes and surrounded by roasted winter vegetables, accented with pancetta. Every bite was a delight. A pinenut tart garnished with blood orange sorbet followed for dessert. I hate to say it but the tart was overly sweet, even with the deliciously tart sorbet. Having said that, the meal was wonderful, and we will definitely return.
We had a fixed priced meal. Mushroom soup, vegetable bolognese and tart. The soup was amazing. The vegetable bolognese had an incredible meaty flavored sauce . The tart was good not great.but overall the food was excellent.
Absolutely loved this place. We came for the dine downtown off season dinner specials. The food was exceptional and the service was amazing. This is our first time eating at The Grange and we plan to be regulars. Dishes were interesting, thoughtfully prepared, described well, and very tasty. Cocktails were excellent and they have a thoughtful and diverse wine and spirit selection (shoot out for carrying Blanton's). The vegetable bolognese satisfied my Sicilian husband which is saying something. The salmon dish was perfectly prepared and balanced- the lardons were a surprisingly welcome addition.
We had a great evening at Grange. The restaurant seated us at their Chef's table, allowing for privacy and space to move around. I highly recommend this for a larger group! Service was excellent. We ordered the Dine Downtown menu + multiple appetizers. Too much food! The appetizers were all very good. We enjoyed our entrees and dessert, but the salad course was not as strong. In all a great experience and next time we'll order off the regular menu I think.
My GF and I met up with a friend to experience this restaurant for the first time during "Dine Downtown". The environment is cozy, soft light with an older crowd, we loved it!! Our server Nick was outstanding! His friendly and accurate service made our evening memorable. Even though we experienced a surprise with hidden sea food (not clearly stated on the menu), which my GF is allergic, Nick and the manager were on top of it quickly. The manager generously offered to comp her cocktail as an apology. The food was delicious and we will definitely return for another wonderful dinner. Oh and to make things even better, the bar had my favorite whisky potion, Drambuie. What else could we ask for?
Even with Dine Downtown Sacramento $40 fixed price menu still came to $70 per person with (least expensive $13) glass of wine, tax and tips.
Food was ok. Nicely spiced and baked chicken drumstick meat fell off the bone.
It's a beautiful restaurant and that's what you pay for. Nice place to take a date, but be prepared to spend $100 per person from regular menu.
Sacromento dining downtown meals were excellent for the price!
My friend’s birthday was celebrated with her daughter and son in law. Our server was great, ambience very nice, we had a table by the window. It was the first time dining there.
All food was excellent. We had the brunch burger, eggs benedict, roast beef sandwich and short rib rigatoni. We would recommend them all.
This is our 3rd visit to the Grange over the last 5 years. We have never been disappointed. We went New Years Eve. I had made a reservation which I highly recommend no matter the day. We had great service, food and fun. From the host to the server everyone was friendly, efficient, but not overly intrusive.
The food was excellent. My husband and I are vegan, our friends are on the Keto diet we all found excellent variety/ options. It was a great dining experience. We highly recommend The Grange.
Great service and food for our New Years Eve dinner. The mixed drinks were on point. The pork chop was super good!
The service was good at first then our server disappeared. The bone marrow and the salmon were outstanding, the duck was not great at all and the gnocchi was not worth the money and definitely left something to be desired. Beautiful restaurant but for subpar food and $17 for a vodka soda, we won’t be rushing back.
Their Sunday brunch is tremendous. The omelet and special eggs benedict were fantastic. The checken hash was also very good, but very hot and spicy. Excellent service from a very professional wait staff.
Absolutely love this place! Always high quality food, drinks and service.
Outstanding service provided by Adam L. He made our dining experience wonderful!!
Christmas birthday, great service from Sydney, great food!
The only thing negative about our experience at the Grange was that we didn't get a table till 40 minutes after our reservation time. Good for the Grange being so full and vibrant but bummer for us having to wait 40 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was very gracious about giving us an hors d'ouevre while we waited at the bar but sorry we couldn't have been seated where we could talk to and hear the friend we'd come to dine with.
Excellent service and food was outstanding. I've never had a bad meal
I had asked for a particular table at the south end of the restaurant and was told my request was noted. There was no one at the table when we arrived, but I was told someone else had reserved it. Very disappointing, especially because the general high noise level in the restaurant is a little less there.
Also, all wait staff should have their heads on a swivel to see if their table is trying to get their attention — maddening for your guests.
The food and the service were both excellent. We had the best holiday lunch ever!
This was my first time eating at The Grange and it was an awesome lunch experience. The service and food were excellent.
the Grange is our go to spot for birthday and anniversary celebrations. The waiter seemed a little off tonight (new?) and would forget us half the time. The menu did not disappoint with its seasonal and local ingredients. We look forward to our next visit as we continue our dining tradition at the Grange
Overall, a great restaurant. Menu needs to change a little bit more often. Service is on point. Wine selection is good, but some appetizers are spicy (octopus), ruining flavor of the wine.
