The Grand Tier is extremely convenient when one is attending the opera. The atmosphere and the service are fine, the food lacking and the overall value a major question. However, the Sunday brunch is even more of a problem. The menu is limited, the servings minimal, the food not very good. One feels that one is paying for real estate much more than for a dining experience. The sole positive is a brief appearance by a young vocalist and her accompanist.

It is a very good restaurant, with a very nice atmosphere, right inside the Opera. We went right before the Opera and it was very convenient. The service was efficient and the food was good.

The food was not up to the level it was a few years ago. I would go back for pre-opera dining as it’s convenient and a great place to watch people. Perhaps the management doesn’t try as hard because they make this assumption.

Everything was fantastic including a twist on Eggs Benedict with cornbread instead of English Muffins, which was brilliant! Our very kind waiter forgot our coffee at the end of our meal and then brought the wrong order. It was remedied and on the house.

Food is beyond compare. Atmosphere upscale. Service attentive. Very slow service from the kitchen. Allow at least 90 minutes before curtain.

We love The Grand Tier pre opera. It is elegant with good service. The food wasn't fantastic however their chocolate soufflé which you come back for at intermission is always excellent!

We enjoyed the Dinner at the Grand Tier Restaurant to attending the Opera – The Merry Widow. We have been here in the past and now return for the fourth time as a Pre Dinner. You are always greeted at the Reservation Desk and elegantly shown to your table. Our Waiter Orlando greeted us and asked which table water we wished. Also he attended to our Drink – Wine needs. The Perfect Manhattans were Perfect! We then gave our dinner selections. They take the whole meal from 1st, 2nd and Dessert selection at this time. The House Salad was wonderful and the Classic Smoked Salmon Plate is always a must when there. The Veal Dish was outstanding and the Slow Smoked Salmon was excellent. Well we did have room for desserts we selected. The Sorbets was plentiful and the Baked Alaska was a true treat.

Orlando was professional in handling our dining needs.

One question about the atmosphere can vary. We have in the past experienced the Dining Room to be very busy and noise level can be high especially where you are seated. We have learned where to ask for seating to have a more moderate noise level.

We always select the Grand Tier Restaurant a Special Occasion nite. We thank Grand Tier Restaurant and hope to return once again.

A perfect dining spot before Figaro. Excellent food, service -and it's the Met!
Small problem: desk said it had no record of our Open Table reservation and sat us in a small space next to Cannery Row (the bathroom exit). But, great cuisine saved the evening...

Dinner was delicious. Having dessert and coffee at the table during first intermission is luxurious. Service was wonderful. And the Grand Martini is outstanding. We'll definitely be back for another special occasion. Delightful overall experience.

The meal was good, although not as good as when I visited the first time three years ago. The service was efficient but not exactly friendly. But the location is excellent and just being at the Met is always amazing.

Located within Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center, the Grand Tier offers a romantic Dinner destination, complete with a fabulous dessert list that is ready and waiting at intermission (together eith whatever drink you desire).

The service is over the top. The food is sublime, with ejormous variety. The price is reasonable, especially the Prix Fixe 3-courae meal.

This was my 5th time dining here and it didn’t dissappoint, it never has..

Second time here for pre opera dinner. Always an excellent experience. The food is amazing, service impeccable and the convenience well worth it. For a pre opera dinner there is no stress about eating quickly in order to get to the opera house...you are already there! So you can relax and leisurely enjoy the delicious food and experience. They will get you to your seats in time for the show .

Went to Lincoln Center for the "Salute to Vienna" concert and made reservations at the The Grand Tier for dinner, afterwards. Ambiance, service and cocktails were all very good, as they should have been given the price level and reputation of this restaurant. The appetizers and desert were also good but the main course (braised veal) was barely edible. In fact, one of our guests did not touch it after the first bite. Given that this dish is typically made from an inexpensive cut of meat, extra care must be taken to prepare and serve it properly. They were clearly not up to the task, as the veal was extremely fatty, tough and tasteless. The plating was also lackluster with bland purees that had no discernible tastes. It was a long day and we did not want to extend the evening, otherwise the food would have been sent back.

We tried it out before our opera performance, and were pleasantly surprised. Starters were particularly outstanding. Main course had excellent flavor, but meat was surprisingly gristly for such a high-end restaurant. Service was perfect and gracious. There is plenty of room, and the vaulted ceiling and Chagall murals were inspiring.

You’re eating a fine-dining meat at the Met Opera House. What more do you really need to know? The food is excellent and with premium service yet priced at comparable rates to neighboring restaurants.

THe service was impeccable; Pavel was an excellent server who was attentive but discreet. The food was tasty and served with flair; the bread rolls were not fresh, however, and would have benefitted greatly from being heated before being served. On the whole, a pleasant experience, but the menu was definitely overpriced.

lovely venue...our first time. terrific service, beautiful space. drinks were stingy/cheap...but i was most amazed at how a chef could find a chicken breast the size of a chicken nugget....must be grown specially for this place. really pathetic tiny portion with virtually no sides, all for only $40 or so just for the entree. my wife's entree was equally stingy. next time i'll stop at the hot dog cart on the corner before dining...or maybe there won't be a next time

The restaurant is in the Metropolitan Opera House, making it very convenient for pre-performance dining. The recipes and flavor concepts are very good, but the food arrives lukewarm. One suspects it was prepared and plated well in advance. The recipes deserve more careful a la minute preparation - which may not be possible in this venue. At this high price point, there are far better values in NYC. However, the wine list is pleasant and concise, and not over-priced. Service is prompt and professional.

We ate at this restaurant before the opera. The food was good but the service was slow. We were unable to get to our dessert on time so we had to go back for it during the first intermission. Unfortunately, the soufflé was still not ready and along with a lot of other patrons, we had to wait for it. By the time it arrived, the intermission was over . It was a disappointing dining experience.

We took my 92 year old father-in-law to his first opera and then had dinner at the Grand Tier. The meal was superb conclusion to a great performance. Our waiter, Buddy, was a gem, a true virtuoso at making one feel special and not just one of the crowd. The drinks, the food, Black Sea bass, and the dessert were wonderfully presented and a terrific culinary delight. I would gladly recommend anyone going to the Metropolitan Opera or not to enjoy a true dining experience at the Grand Tier.

Wonderful service and you couldn't ask for a better ambiance in NYC, but a pit pricey for very small but tasty main courses. Deserts were first rate. Definitely the place to go if your seeing opera or a concert/ballet at Lincoln Center or what to wow someone new to NY.
