Gorgeous decor, very nice team. Food was good, but not what we expected (we had brunch). Avocado toast had barely any avocado.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our entrees but were quite disappointed with our waitress’s attitude and lack of attentiveness. She failed to refill our non-alcoholic beverages and did not check back with us until we’d finished eating.
Waited till 20 mins to be seated had to keep walking to the bar to asked what's taking so long to be seated had to keep asking for my drink good came out cold because they forgot about it
Items I wanted on the menu were not available. Ran out of the beer I was drinking after my first one. Second choice was gone also. Service was so so even though it didn’t appear overly crowded.
Waitress was the only negative part of the experience. She wasn’t hospitable and didn’t give good service.
Great spot where we always seem able to get a reservation. Very cool atmosphere with great live music. Food and service are good.
Staff was very friendly and service was GREAT! Placed a reservation, and my table was ready as soon as we arrived. Good sized brunch menu and all 9 of us enjoyed our food!

I was disappointed with my Thanksgiving dinner and first experience at The Grand. The establishment was short staffed. The coffee we ordered came out lukewarm and stale. One of our entrees had the wrong side despite the sides for the holiday being clearly set. The sides were cold when they came out (cold mashed potatoes, yuck!). A positive - the manager was apologetic at the door when we checked in for the shortage in staff and he made sure to correct our orders when I brought it to his attention. Another positive - the food was tasty. Perhaps I'll give this establishment another try the next time I'm in Columbia.
This was a Thanksgiving dinner and I cannot say enough good things about the staff. They were very busy and short-staffed but incredibly pleasant. The food was a notable substitute for the traditional fare.
Thanksgiving. We were informed that they were supposed to be serving a traditional Turkey dinner. That was not the case. The servers etc were working hard but there seemed to be a lot of confusion and lack of communication.
We did enjoy it however we would have really liked to have The Traditional Turkey dinner we went there for.

Because of being short staffed on Saturday night, we said we wanted to come back Sunday morning for brunch which was totally fine. It was awesome! The experience was great. Our server was right to the point, but very helpful with suggestions. All of the food WAS SOOOOOO GOOD! Everything was hot and had the best taste. The mimosas were also on point. All in all the experience exceeded our expectations! We will definitely be back.
We have eaten at The Grand on several occasions and have enjoyed it. As to our most recent visit (11/20/21), I made reservations and provided that my husband and I would be celebrating our birthday’s, however there was no acknowledgment of that by our wait staff, in addition we had to continue asking our waitress for items that were missing from our meals and or missing utensils, however regardless of those minor issues we will return because we enjoy the food.
The service was horrible! Brittany with the blue hair was out waiter. We had a 6:30p reservation. After getting drinks we didn’t hear from our water until close to 15 mins later. She took our and returned back with paper cups (no glasses). We waited close to an hour for a chicken sandwich, chicken and waffles and a side order of waffle fries. During the wait for our food, the waiter never returned to our table. It was after asking for the manager, which is the same time the food arrived, that she returned to check on us after close to an hour of completely avoiding our table and serving other tables that came in after we did. They had glasses to drink from and their food arrived in almost no time. We only had a party of 3. There was 2 sets of couples that came in after us and two large parties with more than 8 people. The waiter repeatedly looked our way and went to all other tables but ours. We also heard her tell one of the other tables near us that she got into it with a few customers the other night for “trying her”. She never returned to replace the paper cups with glasses, check to see if we wanted another drink, advise us of the wait time food. Then after advising the manager that my sister’s silverware is dirty (she was about to take a bite before she noticed that the chicken was uncooked and the waffle too), he had the kitchen send out new silverware and remake her food that still came out not fully cooked. No one every came back to ensure that we are at least satisfied with what was sent back out. We decided that we were going to leave. Upon waiting for the check we could hear the server tell one table near her that she is the worse server because she only have two hands. Beyond unprofessional. We once again waited for the manager to let him know about the comment and how we are beyond displeased with the service and overly disappointed with the experience. This was our first time there to celebrate my sister’s birthday and it was a terrible experience!
1st Timers!!!! We caught dinner here prior to a concert in the downtown area. Enjoyed the vibe, very inviting ambience, food, and service.
The food was not good. I had the ribs and my wife had the chicken. They were both overcooked and did not have a good flavor. On the other hand the side dishes were excellent. All in all, it is a cool place, but I don’t think I’ll ever get anything to eat from there again.
Our server walked by us at least a dozen times without acknowledging us. We know you were understaffed but at least recognize we are sitting there. We had a hostess bring us drinks after we sat there for 10 minutes. Unacceptable.
The food was good but the service was poor. We received our food before we even received our drinks. We had to go to the bar and ask for condiments.
Got seated at out able and we didn’t get waited on for 30 minutes. Once we finally got waited on it took another 10 minutes just to get the drinks. Only have half the food came out at once and it took another twenty minutes for the other half. The food itself was just okay but the music was played so loudly it was hard to hear others.
My friends and I visit The Grand often. This visit we were celebrating a birthday. However, this visit was unlike what we ever experienced before. The food came before our drinks. One friend and I ordered coffee with our order and were told it’s coming. After looking over our food, my friends noticed that their omelettes had no to little toppings and the peppers and onions were not cooked. Also, my scrambled eggs were overcooked. Again, we have been here several times before and never had any issues. One friend sent here omelette back and the manager brought it back out. The same omelette that was just given back. Also, we asked about the coffee and were told they didn’t have any cups. The food was just ok. The waiter was not attentive at all, but he was very attentive when it was time to pay the check. My friends and I also noticed that he brought out hot, fresh coffee for the table across from us when we left. The customer service and food quality this visit has made me not want to come back. I am very critical about customer service.
We waited one hour and 40 minutes for our food after being seated for our reservation. Our waitress never checked on us and never offered to refill drinks until after our food came (which was 1 hr 40 min later) My husband called her over TWICE to check on our food. No explanation. And we had to ask twice to refill drinks. When it was brought out it was literally side item by side item and one plate at a time. There was never an apology or offer to discount our meal or offer of free dessert. Manager never once came over to apologize. People all around us that ordered over 30 minutes past us were gone when we got our food. We thought it was a cool vibe when we walked in but we sadly will not be back.

I love The Grand so we went there for my birthday. Of all the places I could choose, I picked the Grand. Everything was “just ok”. Been there a bunch and always loved it. But considering it was a special occasion and the money we spent, it was “just ok”

Food was good, bar service was slow, music was way too loud, and it took us 20 min to find out what had happened to our car and keys because when we left the valet had already packed up and was gone! The new manager Shawna did her best to help us and finally located our keys behind the bar. A person in our party in the meantime had called the valet company who sent another valet, I presume from another restaurant in the area, who was able to locate the car in one of the parking decks.
Very disappointing. This place seems like it has a lot of potential based upon initial looks and setup. We had reservations through OpenTable and arrived about 5 minutes early. We were seated relatively quickly, and it did not seem terribly crowded for a Monday night. However, we waited more than 10 minutes after being seated (my husband had enough time to get up, walk all the way back to the car for our jackets then back to our seats) before anyone even came to get us any drinks and that was only after I got up to see if we needed to order from the bar or not. Refills were never provided/offered/noticed, nor was drink order completed without reminders. Food was meh/so-so, at best, gross at worse; it definitely had just been under the warmer vs freshly prepared. Not at all worth it, especially considering the price…for what was paid, I could’ve made something better at home for half of what we paid. It was not at all worth the value of what was paid. Would definitely not return for the food. Drinks were ok - I got the pecan bourbon old fashioned which I liked. This place is ok for drinks and ambiance in a pinch (aka most places are closed on Monday nights for some reason).
The bartender and our waitress were fantastic and attentive. The food was beautiful to look at and tasted just as good ambiance is stellar. I would recommend this place to anyone who visits the Columbia area.
Dreadful on every level. A place serving brunch that did not have decaf coffee. A coffee was refilled halfway with a lame “that’s all the coffee have.” (???!!!) Waited eternity for attention, and 55 minutes at the table to get lukewarm food. Chicken breast was charred, overcooked and inedible. Waitress indicated gluten-free bead was available, but the dry toast that appeared on the plate was NOT. Had I not had a sharp eye, I would have had crippling stomach pain. Clearly the place is seating more diners than they can accommodate. When this place first opened, we had a wonderful meal and experience. This visit was horrendous and I wouldn’t ever return.
The Robinson Room was amazing!!! Our hostess was perfection and helped us make some choices on liquor and desserts. She was super knowledgeable too!! The drinks and desserts were the BEST we’ve ever had!!! So many textures and flavors!! It was definitely pricey but for the experience I’d say it’s a solid date night!
Smoked Pork Chops are awesome, choose your sides. I had Collard Greens and Sweet Potatoes fries and the best cornbread.
My friends and I recently celebrated my birthday at the Grand on Main. While the ambiance was nice, the service was poor. Our server was not attentive and when our food arrived some spilled on my friend’s clothing. The food was decent. The highlight of the night was the live performance of a local artist. This establishment has great potential, but the service has to improve!
Dinner and drinks were enjoyed by all. Loved the flight of mimosas.
Kitchen was very backed up so waited an hour for food. Was good when it arrived we were just starving.
I can’t actually comment on the food because after we were finally seated (15 min after our reservation) another 20 minutes passed and no one ever came to our table. We had gotten mimosas from the bar so once we finished those we left. It appeared that everyone around us was either complaining about how long their food was taking or complaining about the food they got. We decided to look elsewhere. Don’t think I’ll be back.
Soooo long to get our food. Some dishes good, some not. Our waitress was pleasant, but never returned after taking our order and our drinks were empty and we were wondering what the situation was. Probably will not return.
Great food and atmosphere!
Server was awful. Told us “I have the owners table so I have to tend to them first”. Told him we have an Gluten & Dairy allergy & the salad came out with a piece of bread on it. Told him we were ready for the check & he disappeared for 15 minutes.
Comfy, cozy great food!
Only complaint was that appetizer came out after our sandwiches.
Overall fantastic will go back!
